Darnell Washington has a unique build at 6-7, 265 pounds and uses that frame to his advantage as a run blocker. Thanks for breaking his tape down! Always learn from your analysis. This confirms my thoughts all along re: Washington. He’d be a great situational addition for KP8 in terms of targets and improve the run blocking. It’s a matter of tweaking our schematics to accommodate 12 personnel.

The cool thing about Washington is that he’s pretty much a fit for every team. Every OC could use a guy that blocks like that and allows you to dictate personnel.

like George Pickens last year a player of WOW factor that not many others in the NFL have. A man reminds me of Eric Green #86 from the Bill Cowher era. A huge man with good speed and hands and I believe Washington is a better blocker than Green was. A true gem who when polished many shine like few others. Paired with Pat the Steelers can put out a pair of tight ends like no others team in the league. Great job Bingo Starr

If he learns to get lower and use his hands better while blocking he will 100% excel in the next level. With his size I expect to see him planting a lot of defenders, especially DB's out in space.

What a tandem he and Muth would make. Would let Muth do what he really does best, go catch footballs.

It is kind of an interesting idea to have Muth as more of a move-slot and adding Washington gives you more of that true in-line tight end blocking type. 12 personnel forces teams to stick to base defensive personnel = Muth marched on a LB/S type. That’s a matchup I’m taking 100% of the time.

I don’t know a receiver in the NFL that never dropped a ball. His problem was he didn’t look the ball in throughout the whole catch, that happens to the best of them. That has nothing to do with his hands but everything to do with technique.

Correct and his technique is largely the issue on film which pops up over and over. He claps at the ball where as he should be trying to diamond frame those correctly.

Has anyone ever heard of two TE sets in the NFL? Washington is much better than Gentry and Heyward. In addition to that, he could be a good TE in case of an injury to Freiermuth. He can also play as an extra blocking TE and you would never have to take him off the field. Most LB's can't match up with him and DB's are no match for him once he gets out in space. Pair him with Muth and the stable of WR's the team has, and you talk about problems all across the board, it is like pick your poison, because you can't defend against everybody. If he is there, go get him at 17. If you wait, until 32, he will be gone.

Respectfully disagree, mate. Gentry is ranked as the worst TE in the League with 30+ snaps and only an “okay” blocker. Could definitely use an upgrade at the position particularly since PF doesn’t block! You’re potentially getting a full TE package with Washington-great blocking with more potential as an offensive weapon for KP8. Just need to tweak our schematics to run 12 personnel sets.
