49ers tried to play in a unpredictable matter. What’s funny is that the coach of the Chiefs even called out his last play was going to be a fake out as his signature move and that play won the Super Bowl.

@johnhitz1185 that's why it was great. They made it look too easy. Nothing in the overtime of a Superbowl is "too easy". One drop, one missed assignment, one bobbled snap, one bone headed penalty, one poorly run route, could have ruined it. Joe Montana had many drives late in games just like this. Nothing spectacular, just winning drives.

The check down at 4:38 is the underrated play of the drive, and an example why Mahomes is such a great QB. He wanted to go deep, thought better of it, and with a pass rusher closing in, he didn't panic, he just flipped it down to the RB for a few yards. A lesser QB would have thrown into coverage deep or taken the sack. He read the SF defense like a book on that drive. Congrats to the Chiefs once again.

I would suggest that Mahomes himself was actually a second decoy. 49ers, 33 & 54 moved toward the sideline to prevent Patrick from sweeping in along his right side while Kelcy was headed for the endzone where he needed to be covered. That allowed Hardman, who suddenly reappeared like a rabbit out of a hat, to slip in between the defensive components and make an easy catch and stroll untouched into the endzone. This is one of the coolest plays ever!! Hardman should get an academy award for his fake motion to the left.

And.. Kelce stops before the ball was thrown looking at the board and basically celebrating. He knew before anyone else that was game over. That last run by Kelsey was incredible considering the size of the hole and the number of defenders he had to overcome. Maholmes' run was equally impressive. Getting two 3rd-down conversions and a 4th-down conversion against one of the best defenses in the NFL made the feat even more improbable.

Mahomes Football IQ is unique. He gases the defense out cause you can’t just substitute a starter out unless he’s on Dline. He basically tires defenders out and keeps his legs fresh while throwing from the pocket. Then once he do scramble hes already two steps ahead.

I want to point out on the 4th&1 run at 2:03 that Kelce running the option crucially zoned Bosa out of a straight cut to Mahomes, forcing him to backstep to his right before being able to readjust, giving a crucial half second of separation and distance for the QB to make that play!

The reason Andy Reid is the best offensive mind in football currently is because he will take plays from HS, college, wherever that are up and coming that no other NFL mind has and remember he took the Eagles to four NFC championships and lost one Super Bowl before he got Mahomes. That was a bad spot on the Pacheco catch and run. I know it's at an angle but he's not down until his butt hit the ground and the ball is in his right arm. I get the ref on can't see it on that side of the field, but how did the booth not call down and say anything. If it's short it's a few inches short not half a yard. The funny thing is I think a stoppage for a review would have helped the 49ers regroup.

It's not just luck. Time after time, in the toughest moments, in the biggest games, against the baddest teams, Patrick Mahomes simply does what it takes to win. He's a stone-cold assassin, and a born winner! I knew when San Francisco kicked the field goal in overtime that they had lost. I KNEW Patrick Mahomes was going to do whatever he had to, to drive down the field and rip their hearts out with the winning touchdown. You doubt Patrick Mahomes at your peril. And watch out, because the Chiefs are still a young team that's well positioned under the salary cap. Mahomes has won the Super Bowl the last two years with essentially spare parts from the wide receiver position. His four TDs in the last two Super Bowls were caught by the likes of Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Marquez Valdez-Scantling and Mecole Hardman for Christ's sake! I strongly believe the Chiefs WILL pick up a No. 1 receiver either in the draft or free agency and could be even better next year! Do I hear a three peat?

Idk if there was ever more evidence to what winning looks like, than the final 2 drives of the SB by KC. - No big arm throws - No pinpoint accuracy - No crazy off script plays - No amazing throws - No incredible off platform throws - No video game QB designed runs Yet this is the stuff, that analysts endlessly search for, when trying to find the next “Mahomes” or next superstar QB. Literally rewatch the last 2 drives. Not a single pass traveled more than 10 yards. Many didn’t travel 5 yards. All that was, was Andy Reid planting thoughts into the opponents heads, to where they thought they knew what was coming next, and then simply exploited it. Andy Reid and Mahomes are playing chess while everyone else is lifting weights.

Exactly this. The completions on that last drive, in terms of how far the passes traveled beyond the line of scrimmage, were: 1 yard; 5; 3; 2; (-3); (-3); (-2) and 2. The two best plays of the drive were QB runs. And those were awesome plays by Mahomes. But the average depth of completion on the drive was less than 1 yard!!!! It was all YAC and scrambles. Unbelievable! That is great coaching and scheme.

If the official had called the lineman down field blocking on McCaffery's touchdown catch. There may not have been overtime.

And there I was, almost getting sick when clock was running down to zero because the commentators (in ESPN Brazil) did not know that after clock hit zero they would just change sides and continue with 2nd and goal or whatever.

Take a look at the 2 and 6 play with 2:46 to play. Pacheco lands on his butt at the 31 the ball is across the 31. The side judge marks the ball with his foot at the 31. He then walks the ball in and places it at the 31.5 This is not the only time this happens in the game.

That SB winning TD play is the same play as last year's SB TDs. That play should be imprinted in all the NFL defense's brain.

The fourth and one, was as intense as it gets. As a Chiefs fan, I feel for Niners fans. That was about as brutal a loss as there is. Ten point lead, Niners lose that, take the lead in regulation with 1:24 to go, they can't make a stop, take the lead in overtime, and they can't hold it. I kept thinking, how many times can the Chiefs keep going to the well, expect water.

That final play was the same play they used to beat the eagles last year. It's called corn dog.

Bosa got schooled on that final play as well. After amazing work most of the game keeping Mahomes in the pocket he made three major mistakes at the end that resulted in two first downs and the winning TD. Not sure if he was tired, undisciplined or confused but it certainly hurt SF after an amazing defensive performance the rest of the game.

This final pass to Kelce is straight from Luka's playbook: a no-look, with Mahomes eyeing Valdes-Scantling until the millisecond the defender breaks off Kelce. Then, throwing it right to him wide open leaving the defender catching the vapors! Precise and brilliant. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i7SZqsSF0cfcaKs.html

For most of the game, it seemed like the Niners had a edge over the Chiefs... but yes, this last drive the Chiefs really stepped it up and play smart football. The Niners had ONE JOB... prevent a touchdown so that they could get the ball back. Of course, they ended up failing in that one job. I look forward to next year's Superbowl (I wouldn't be surprised if we see the same two teams in it).
