Moto has his hands full in this thrilling adventure set in Egypt. The Japanese crime solver deals with everything from a stolen identity, to the possible start of a war! With a cast that includes Peter Lorre as the feisty and brilliant Moto, plus Ricardo Cortez, John Carradine, and George Sanders, this compelling little mystery was directed by Norman Foster (he helmed six of the eight Moto movies for 20th Century Fox). It also features enough judo-flipping action to keep anyone on the edge of their seat!
Director: Norman Foster
Writers: Philip MacDonald, Norman Foster
Starring: Peter Lorre, Ricardo Cortez, Virginia Field, John Carradine, George Sanders

When he started acting he couldn’t speak English -he had to learn his lines by the sound rather than the meaning. One of his first English films was The Man Who Knew Too Much.

Good movie and what a cast! Peter Lorre, George Sanders and the handsome Ricardo Cortez! Yum yum. And how about an honorable mention for the female actress, Virginia Field. She’s terrific especially in her 1940s and 50s movies.

The director adds many little touches to this. Many sets, many camera setups. A real pro. production. Very well photographed and always moving ahead with the story. The beer moment is great. These are all better than the Charlie Chan films. Way better.

@@markc7440 love doing that, too. Or continuity errors! They don't normally detract from the story, but they're fun to catch. Especially when you consider that someone was paid A LOT of money to catch those little flaws!

Despite the inexcusably egregious cultural misappropriation represented by this series, the same as the Mr. Wong and Charlie Chan series, it always has pleased me that Peter Lorre had the opportunity to star as the martial art practitioner hero of his own series. Even rating co-stars like George Sanders and John Carradine. Really love the flying through the air leap onto the bad guy @107:44.

For people who thinks of these movies as racist, heres a point to ponder it is a Japanese character during a time when Japan was going after China there was a lot of hatred for them before Pearl Harbor and this character was something bright in a world of hatred.
