i think one reason kate's death is so effective is that in so many slasher films, all the characters are douchebags who you WANT to get killed, but kate was so well built up and likable as a character that it hit wayyyyyyyyyyy harder 😪

May I just say I love the fact that I’m not the only one who was traumatised by Kate’s death. Really cool character, and the ONLY one killed off in such a gruesome way. Everyone else in the entire trilogy gets off pretty easy by comparison. Not to mention, she and Simon both died for ONE person, which ends up not working until the last part of the trilogy, so it just feels unfair as well as tragic.
