Finally after a long wait, I managed to put the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro into a test. While walking around the busy street of London, I took only my Huawei Mate 20 Pro with my DJI Osmo Mobile 2 and film the surrounding areas. The native video has only auto exposure so I downloaded the free app "Open Camera" to lock the exposure and it works like a charm. I think the phone produces amazing 4K video. Its super sharp and smooth footage while pairing it with Osmo Mobile 2. I just wish that they can film 4K at 60 fps... I really wish that!

I am beginning to understand more. He has osmo mobile 2 which integrations with filmic pro. What makes his video better than ours is he color graded and his transitions are PERFECT. He injects audio at the perfect time to match transitions and also the scene. I must step my game up

I stumbled to find your video from KZfaq's recommendations, great video by the way. IMHO, I believe that most flagship smartphones (i.e, mate 20 pro, pixel 3 or iPhone Xs) nowadays are capable enough to pit against those high end DSLR in cinematography provided that the video is taken by talented videographer. To raise the bar, you really need to shoot it with high quality external lens, i.e an anamorphic lens, and pro level video capture software that allows you to play around exposure and white balance setting manually, i.e Moment's app.

totally agreed! sadly moment lenses are not compatible with huawei mate 20pro. i would love to film with their lenses someday and put my big cameras in a museum )))

Kapkur has the lens and case that makes for Huawei Mate 20 Pro mate. They have anamorphic lens as well.

Really inspiring for someone like me who loves video and has the same equipment. I am quite a noob when it comes to this type of thing so I could be wrong, however, I believe you can lock exposure on the DJI Go app without having to use OpenCamera buddy. I noticed it when using mine earlier. If you double click on the exposure icon thing (I don't have it with me now but I believe you can actually click anywhere) then it comes up saying AE LOCK in a yellow box and appears to lock it. I could be completely wrong though haha

Nice video, does Mate 20 pro able to shoot video in Cinemascope aspect ration (up to 2.6:1) by setting rather than post production cutting, and save the video file in raw mode? Its a great video btw, I really love it. Can't blame you at all on post production though, its just part of the whole process of video production. Great stuff !!

Hi Zahariz, first of all love the video!!! Main question I have for you is I have a Mate 20 Pro and also a DJI Osmo 2. However I cannot get them to pair correctly in the DJI app. My phone see's the Osmo and connects to it, however cannot operate it, how did you manage to do this?

hey Matt, I dont actually use Osmo App. While filming I use "Open Camera" app since it can lock the exposure while filming which is very important. And the app is free you should give it a try. And by doing this you can skip the part of pairing the phone to the app. Now you just need to solve the problem of balancing the phone on the stabilizer thats all...

The phone is all great... Love the camera quads and the wide angel len... But yeah the LG screen glare does sucks a bit... Overall its a great versatile phone

İt does shows when you in a dark spot or in room when you set the brightness down it doesn't really show when you on full or medium brightness... Great video ! About the DJI osmo mobile 2, can you use the wide angle of the Mate 20 Pro while you are taking a video ? And do you not loose the phone stabilisation using it ?

i didnt use the osmo mobile app. I shot these footages using Open Camera to lock to exposure. Its a free app. Osmo Mobile is used only to stabilise the footages

@@techromagnet6860 oh yes thats right. when attached with dji osmo mobile.. you dont need to enable to video stabiliser on the phone anymore. osmo mobile will do a good job stabilising your phone =))

i have no idea about sony... but i guess all smartphones nowadays regardless of brands can really produce amazing photos and videos. when you can compare smartphones with those expensive dslr/mirrorless cameras, that means theyre doing amazing job now
