One thing most people don't notice about "Get Jinxed" is the fact that she is setting up the monkey toy in the beginning of the video in order to sleep because she can't sleep when things are too quiet.

Just a thing I noticed, the cinematic itself is more “realistic” in it’s art and style but all the effects (gun flare, explosions, smoke, etc) are all a lot more cartoonish. Just something extra.

Jinx has been my main since 8 years now, since I saw the “Get Jinxed” music video and Arcane just made me love Jinx more. The way they put into depth Powder’s character. Such a dark and fire backstory.

This song is really catchy and I can't tell how many times I've come back to watch it. Riot does awesome music videos and this is where it all started. Jinx was also the best character to try this with, because she is pretty much insane - so you can handwave any narrative issues as "well, that's just how her mind works". And they certainly managed to introduce her perfectly. Industrial town somewhere between pretty architecture and grimy machines, impressive skyscrapers choking the light out of the alleys between them, cramped space, but many of the buildings are abandoned - and in the middle of all of it Jinx who only sees it as a playground to have her fun in. Which includes blowing it up. I remember when this came out shortly before her character release. That was in the ~3 months I was playing League and basically all of my friends were talking about the game. Jinx and her song hit like a bomb. Everyone instantly loved the crazy girl! ... Sure, broody lone wolves and valiant heroes are good characters - but sometimes you just want to not care and have fun smashing random stuff. And that's Jinx.

Get Jinxed really hits different when you watch the first 3 eps of Arcane

a short entry on her back story, abbandoned by her parents, taken up by a gang of wich vi and ekko was also a member, she sees vi like a big sister, and vi leaves her too, the trauma caused her to develop twin personality disorder, wich she projects on her guns. vi her big sister joined the police force of piltover, the city, and now she causes mayhem in the city, as a scream of attention.

jinx and another champion who's likely to be reveled to be her sister, are getting an anime on Netflix this fall called Arcane, you should check it out when it comes out

When you said that the video is from 2013, i felt hella old. I started playing league with the release of Jinx. And i still endure the suffering of playing league.

I don't know if this has been discussed, but I think one of the reasons the video was slow to start off with, with her walking down to the corridor, was to build up the introduction to Jinx for the audience. This was kind of like her introduction to the League of Legends players and it was first time a lot of people first saw her. You don't really get to meet her or see her face all that much until she turns around in the corridor, but once you do it starts building up really fast and moving along with her personality. It was probably a decision made by the product of the time or experience that Riot had at the time, but I remember being so hyped when that happened!

I'm not a lore specialist, but i remember that something in Jinx's past made her split her personality into "the good girl" and the "bad girl", she closed her good side in her bazooka and started wrecking havoc anywhere she can, in the game she often talks with the bazooka, which is reminding her of her law abiding past, i think. Basiclly, she's a maniac who loves to destroy and kill

Interesting. I've actually been clicking on your channel every couple of weeks because I was wondering where you were. There was usually a new video, so I figured I missed it on my sub page. Good to know it's hopefully getting sorted, as this is a great series. I already watched this so I'll drop my like, and look forward to what comes next. I'd love to see your reaction to the original World of Warcraft and/or the Burning Crusade (first expansion) cinematics. They're oooold (2004 / 2007) but I think still hold up for what they are. Blizzard's been killing it for decades.

I recently started playing her. Landing a kill with her ult is supersatisfying and her passive (boosting attack speed and movement speed for a short period after a kill, assist, epic monster kill or turret destruction) really gets you into the character you're playing.

The 'fireworks' scene reminded me strongly of that particular scene from Fight Club - If I recall correctly it was an intentional reference, but I'm not sure.

Finally!

This is still IMO the best cinematic Riot has done. The mix of 3D and 2D is really cool.

She is from Zaun (a poor zone and "lower" zone of Piltover), an orphan who grew up in the streets with other poor children, doing whatever they need in order to survive in a toxic and dangerous city. People of Zaun use to hate the rich people of Piltover because of the contamination and toxic waste they throw to the lower zone. Jinx is, in fact, crazy. But she only blow up things in Piltover. To have some fun, she broke into the more secure bank wich was protected by those inteligent robots. And freed the exotics animals from a rich mercant's mansion (both events showed on the cinematic). She is always bringing chaos to Piltover, that is why the people of Zaun think about her as a revenge spirit. And if you pay attention, Jinx set up the monkey to make some noise, because she is so used to chaos that she cannot sleep when there are too much silence.

That bear in the end is Annies bear Tibbers is just an easter egg

This was the launch trailer for Jinx when she was released to the game. Even Twitter and the Homepage from LoL were painted from Jinx. Her Sister Vi was also a criminal but works now for the security in Piltover. They had a rough childhood in Zhaun. Jinx tend to get her attention to kill the boredom. Her main weapons are pow-pow the minigun and fishbone the rocket launcher. She also uses her pistole zapper and some flame chompers (grenades). Her ult actually is one of the big rockets from the beginning called Super Mega Death Rocket!

Him: "Why is her gun like a sharky thing?" My POV: "LETS GO FISHBONES! LETS BLOW SOME STUFF UP!"

If I remember right, this is what really set League up to become so involved in music and cinematics! Without this, K/DA would never have existed!

This is just Jinx's default skin. A lot of high production videos are a publicity stunt to sell skin lines, like the K/DA ones for example, but this video was to introduce Jinx as a character when she was released and the other one you saw, You Really Got Me, was introducing the mobile version of League, so they kept the base skin for every champion.

I may be incorrect on this, but from what I remember this was League of Legends first foray into animated character presentations. Before this there had been a few CGI animations, usually with the heroes running and/or fighting to get to some nebulous objective (Ryze was always in them for some reason). I think the things you pointed out as not quite lining up in terms of music and cinematography stems from this - Riot was trying out a new thing and were still finding their way with how to do it. (It's also why there's no real narrative progression. It's more like a personality profile set to music.) When the animation proved very popular, they went ahead and did more character presentations, getting better at their craft as well as dipping into more narrative animations/presentations. And then they did the whole reset where they redid and brought together the lore and setting of LoL into something like a coherent whole, giving them more opportunities to set their character presentations into an already existing narrative context. They still did/do fun sidetracks and experiments though, like the pop group KDA thing, or the Star Guardians themed event with a little narrative setting of its own.

ayyyy, now u should check out Legends of Runeterra cinematics! Thewy're also from Riot. They're kinda short, but have a story progression.

It's generally assumed(by me for sure) that the show will center around Jinx and her sister Vi, when they were little kids living in the slums of Zion and the alleys of Piltover. It looks like Jinx will be the sole victim of a lab explosion, resulting in her insanity.

Personally i think the contrast between her walking into a cold color hallway, vs the high energy rocket riding, is to emphasize her carefree nature more, instead of needing to be hyperactive. She wants a thrill. But enjoys loofing while enjoying in what she did.
