I remember watching this music video for the first time. Chills the entire time. NF is one of the best rappers/storytellers out there.

he turned a half hour mundane existential struggle into a 4 minute song that feels like both a lifetime and a nanosecond in time

I watched this when it debuted. I has no idea what I was in for, just excited to hear a new song. I was so engrossed in the story and the video that I still recall not even realizing how long the video was. When it finished I was just in awe. I’ve since watched the video and listened to the whole Clouds mixtape many times…but when I come back to this video, I continue to get chills and an adrenaline rush..I’ve never experienced something like this from a music video.

Everything NF does is so cinematic and enthralling... I've been a massive fan of his for years.. I always said if he decides to give up the music... I would love to see him as a director..

I still get chills from this song even though I heard a 10's of times

When he says (or pretty much yells) "here comes another guy!" I get the chills every time! He captures the panic and terror you'd feel in a situation like that so well. It's not easy to go in a recording booth and do this. People don't understand. You have to put yourself there in that moment mentally for it to sound authentic, and NF can do this in a way most artists cannot. His videos are always at LEAST 50% rap/50% cinematic, if not more cinematic than music sometimes! ✌️ His new song will blow your mind btw, it's called Hope.

Great reaction. This video had me mesmerized and engaged from the beginning to end. NF has a line in his music video for "The Search" where he says, "I don't know if I'm making Movies or music videos " genius 👏

Something amazing about this song is that I first listened to it without the video, so the lyrics and his way of singing it are so on point that I could visualize the whole thing in my mind. But then, I watched the video, and it was everything I had pictured and more

Such a crazy video, showcasing NFs story telling and overall vision. Love your thoughts from a filmmaker pov. really interesting tidbits about how some stuff would be done

I love this song, because its not trying to be too large-scale. It's not a story about a perfect hero who's trying to save the world. It's about a relatable burn-out who just happened to be caught up in a life-changing event at a place she's probably been a million times. It's amazing to see her work the courage up to do something, which many people might not have done if in her situation. The way that some things tie together (like the friend's boyfriend), while also intentionally leaving loose ends is really cool, and makes it feel more realistic. The POV shots only help add to that, and this feels like something that anyone could be unfortunate enough to experience.

The climax and resolution of this story make me cry uncontrollably every time. It's so incredibly done. And shouts to the actors!

NF is great with building layers and telling a awesome story. He not only touches those with his music but other skillsets that play in unison to his passions. Sooo Good.

I'm a huge fan of NF and it always makes me happy to see it when other people enjoy his content

I'm in my last semester of the university studying televison production assistant and we have to make a last shortfilm as an exam, I just found NF somewhere at the second half of 2022, and just became my favourite. Now I just found your channel and your videos inspires me so much very very grateful for the explanations it helps me understand how a video/film works. Your reaction to this is exactly the kind of reaction i want from everyone i play this song to for the first time. I mean I wasn't even watching the video but every single emotion and chill came through perfectly when i first heard, and when the gun ....... and there's that long pause, i literally felt my heart skip more beats. No musician moves my emotions up and down the way NF does, and I'm glad to see more people appreciate his storytelling ability.

Everytime time i listen to Story, my heart always speeds up. every single time. i love it

I listened to this music more than approximately 6 times on different occasions before I actually watched its music video. I didn't picture the protagonist as female and it wasn't as early as it was in the video. Yet the 'story' was still so so captivating to me. I loved it so much The video blew my mind then and every other infinite time I've watched it. Whoever came up with the character switch is brilliant.

This video has given me the most visceral feeling through my whole body every time I watch it.

Would love to see you react to "NF - How Could You Leave Us" It's a super sad song about things that actually happened to him in his life. The focus is definitely more on the lyrics than the video, but video is icing on the cake.

I know this video is from a while ago, but i'm going on an NF spiral again lol. Wonderful commentary. Videography was very intimidating in my media classes. So much to think about and that you can't control. I went the 3D route in school instead. Much respect to you and your craft!

One of the coolest parts of NF and his abilities is his storytelling but it's not a surprise because he's a huge movie buff. He loves the cinematic feel that Christopher Nolan brings to his movies. Some of his songs you'll hear him reference inception and the batman trilogy. The beats him and Tommy come up with reflect that as well. He's always been a great actor (he's the first robber) and has wanted to give his go at storytelling. He's said it though, he doesn't wanna go Hollywood 🤣

Aside from the amazing cinematography, the acting and character writing/design in this video is… flawless, as far as I can tell. The facial acting and lip syncing is perfect, especially the cashier’s. He really saved the day with that last-second adrenaline-fueled shot.
