James took “human element” out of his vocabulary and filled the void with “locked in” the last two episodes

There are two things I loved about this episode: 1. How the music style/tempo would change when they would move in and out of the kitchen to show how hectic the environment is in a kitchen of that standard while it might seem elegant on the surface 2. The completion of Ritchie's character arc. Seeing him step up and take the lead was amazing to watch and see how far the character has come. The icing on the cake was how his expression changed when he called Carmen 'Donna' when Carmen was locked in the freezer and following it up with just telling Carmen he loves him; that look of immediate regret (which Ritchie probably wouldn't have had last season) I feel like is something everyone can relate to after you've said something you shouldn't have and it hits you so hard

I think I cried during the entire episode. Of pride and happiness, but of sadness too. Carmy losing control and missing the inauguration broke my heart. I know everyone learned individually during the season for this moment, but it makes it seem like the restaurant is better off without Carmy when he was always generous to everyone. Syd and Richie was a heart-warmer. Pete hurting for Sugar, wanting her to see this moment, but heartbroken for her too. OMG.

i've rewatched this episode a few times. but i've only just realized that the alarm beeping so frequently in the background reminds me of the alarm ringing in 2x6 with donna. it shows how similar carmy is to her in that moment -- chaotic, confrontational, and all over the place. the fact that the beeping stops once carmy is in the fridge is just the cherry on top of this sweet little narrative parallel.

Richie redemption arc is SUCH a good feeling. He's an absolute boss in this episode. Also the scene with their mom and Pete outside is just incredible acting (from them both!), the music in the background too, aaaaah too good.

The use of I hope We Can Again by Nine Inch Nails was brilliant in the episode. I think that the album (Ghosts V) was a COVID project of the band, and it really captures a lot of the emotions that we had during that period of uncertainty.

I rewatched season 2 to prepare for season 3 and it was very cool listening to two NIN songs back to back, the one in the finale, and the one in S3E01, although I'll say S3E01 was an ever better use of their unique style of music

10:35 - Don't know if it was noticed, and don't think it was mentioned. But, the scene where Donna is walking away from the restaurant, the way it's framed, there's so many do not walk signs, and stop lights in frame with her, it feels so intentional.

For anyone who's not been through truly grueling service, and I mean "I want to set this restaurant on fire so I can get out of here" bad, let me tell you this: the most realistic part of the episode is the mf smoking crack in the alley during opening night.

Literally just started watching the show this week and saw this episode last night. I was honestly shocked that I found myself siding with Richie at the end of the episode. Still amazed that they're able to keep up the chaotic tension and even what seems like a "filler" episode feels important to these characters.

I absolutely adore this episode, and I think it might just be my favorite one from the show. A big part of why I love it so much is the use of Hope We Can Again by Nine Inch Nails. Once that song started playing, with Donna showing up all the way till Carmy and Richie having that fight, I was in awe and just amazed by everything that was happening. The entire ending half of the episode was just spectacular, and Hope We Can Again added to that feeling I was experiencing. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it was amazing how they used the song. And of course, Carmy's implosion in the freezer was very horrible to see, but it was powerful and beautifully acted, and I really understood how he felt. All in all, this episode and the entire season are truly phenomenal.

I just love this show and I hate living in Germany because the third season starts in August here and I just can't wait. I'm so impressed by the scene outside between Pete and Donna, two characters that aren't even main cast, Pete is mostly just there to have a laugh and Donna was there for one episode and yet they deliver such a heartbreaking dialouge. Carmy's monolouge in the walk-in how he doesn't need any joy as long as he's functioning, Jeremy Allen White was just made for delivering those monolouges that will suck you into his characters mind, he SO good at this! In a time where there are so many shows and movies that are just content for streamers to fill their libraries, this show is art. Every picture they draw is so full of intention, style, and character, the camera isn't just there to film something, it helps to tell the story. Having a one-shot not for the sake of having it and showing off with it, but to actually give us the feeling of everything is flowing well, to drag us into the restaurent, to make us feel something is so precious and so worth it. I can't really explain how much I value that. There is so much intention and love in every second, it feels so refreshing and I as a viewer feel so valued by the people making the show.

The timer stops when the team is in the right position: With Sydney driving the food moved slower and she's ignoring Marcus' all day requests. Carmy takes out his frustration on Syd who then takes her misplaced frustration out on Ms Tina, etc. Richie strives in chaos! He looks at the crew when he drives, not with his back to them like Syd. Also Syd is the one who hired Josh, missing those BLARING tweaking signs during the interview. The forks & freezer issues both the result of Carmy self-sabotaging and not allowing someone else to take care of it for him.
