I still think, even almost a year later, that they should have won that competition instead of MAMAMOO, and they were certainly better than Oh My Girl, who only got lucky with that version of Lovelyz’ Destiny.

Noor Sabah It was a competition show filmed last year featuring (G)I-dle, AOA, Oh My Girl, Park Bom, Lovelyz and MAMAMOO. They all planned comebacks around the same time, so instead of stepping on each other’s toes, there was a reality show and the winner got a TV comeback concert thing, just them. The best part of (G)I-DLE is that although Soyeon is basically the NUCLEUS of the group, meaning she's involved in everything like writing lyrics, composing and producing songs, developing concepts, arranging choreography, designing MV sets etc, she's not the only one getting the limelight. Every member has their own deserved recognition/dedicated fanbase and that's for a reason. Say, I'm a Shuhua bias cuz of her personality which you can only discover if you watch their I-Talk videos but not through MV or stage performances cuz she's pretty nervous there and she usually receives the least amount of lines for a logical reason from the beginning (which signifies she will get less focus/screen time for one to follow her or get accustomed to her through MV or stage performances). I'm surprised Yuqi's deep voice didn't WOW you in Latata cuz that was the primary reason why she is the most popular member in (G)I-DLE from the beginning which is now rivaled by Soojin. Anyway, they are not the conventional KPop girl group and they don't stick to a single concept...You should check out "Uh Oh", another bop created by Soyeon (She wrote every single title track of the group).

The concept for LION are 'Joan of Arc' who was condemned for trying to liberate her people.The Imagery of Yuqi and Miyeon in a spiked frame is like Joan of Arc under piercing accusations of her being a witch/outcast. Later, the frames are on fire as she was being burned at stake. Also, the idea of taming a wild being from foreign country like a lion is comparable to how men tries to tame women in a relationship. LION and Oh my God are two songs in the same EP so if you feel the songs are similar it might be a continuity thing. However, many feels the chords and melodies used in the two songs are too similar. My Bias is Miyeon because her voice connects with everyone's voices in the group. But Soojin (pronounced su-jin) is my bias wrecker because of her visual. And I'm Thai so I stan Minnie all the way. haha

Fun Facts: Miyeon was supposed to debut with BlackPink!!! Minnie was the one who whistled the intro and everything in Hann and if you search " Minnie whistling" you'll find her whistling. Soyeon writes and composes all their songs!!! Minnie is Thai. Shu hua is Taiwanese. Yuqi is Chinese. Soojin learnt Jazz dancing since she was little because her mom told her so. And she learnt taekwondo. She once dated Pentagon's HUI but later broke up in 2018.😢😢 Minnie, Lisa (BlackPink), Sorn(CLC) are close friends since they are all Thai. PLEASE react to 2NE1!!!!

I loved seeing you enjoy them. I was crying laughing at how much you're admiring Soojin - but honestly, same. :) I also can't pick a favourite. It might make your choice even harder to know that almost all of their songs (and some songs by other groups, too) are written and co-produced by Soyeon. She conceives an idea, works out the melody, writes the lyrics, plays and sings the original guide by which everyone else learns it, edits the song (though usually in collaboration with another producer)... It might also tip your scale to know Soojin is kind of like a mum, she cooks for them and takes care of them... And while it's not in the MVs, Yuqi is a born comedienne, Shuhua practically a cartoon character (even with her Korean not being great, or maybe that's even a contributing factor), Miyeon is funny just by existing. Minnie is also learning how to produce songs, and already produced a couple under Soyeon's tutelage. And that's even without their social dynamics antics. Watching them outside MVs is kind of like watching Marx brothers.

It was honestly so easy for me. At first I liked Minnie and Soojin (Latata queendom ver). I just found them really pretty and they stood out with their visuals. I actually didnt like Shuhua because I thought she had so many lines and spotlight (I knew that there was a member named Shuhua that didnt get the lines but she just looked like someone that actually gets lines. I thought it would be one of the members that fit the korean beauty standards less for some reason). But after I looked up or Shushuu I actualky found her so pretty and I liked her voice so she instantly became my Bias. But I somehow often tend to Bias members with less lines (at least title tracks)

I'm glad you enjoyed them! Yuqi is my bias in G Idle, but Minnie and Soyeon are my bias wreckers. I was wrecked by Miyeon once (in Lion, her parts were my favorite), and Shuhua once (I really loved her part in Uh-Oh, but right after her Soyeon bias wrecked me lol). I appreciate Soojin, but I'm really into vocals and Soojin's voice is just not my favorite. She has some of the best showmanship though... and is probably the best looking girl in the group lol

G-Idle is in the same company with Pentagon, BTOB, CLC, 4Minute and etc... they're all talented groups its just a shame their company is Cube... 😧

Why? Cube is handling Idle better than any company I've ever seen handle a group before in girl group kpop. They have FULL creative freedom, free to be themselves and Cube seems to be behind them 1000% for whatever crazy idea Soyeon comes up with (IE Queendom, M/V's), they also wanted to give them a WORLD TOUR before their second year.. no other company or group does that lol The only other companies I could have seen do this much good would be P Nation and BigHit. It's paying off massively as well, I Trust is Cube's most successful album in company history AND one of the industries history. Idle's success is opening doors for Cube's other groups. Pentagon being on RTK is partially thanks to Idle's marketing successes on Queendom and Soyeon wrote, arranged and produced "No" CLC's first ever win in 4 years. The situation with Hyuna and Dawn I agree was garbage and Cube was rightfully wrong for that but it seems they've learned with Idle. Could be worse as well, they could be with YG, the literal dungeon lmaoo

for me latata was my favorite since their debut until now but i think lion is their legendary song though latata and hann too but lion makes them more popular and it's the start of their booming career like it was their most powerful song though omg is too... lion is just legendary from the message of the song, the melody, the song, the killing parts like shuhua's longer lines; minnie's highnotes; and soyeon's rap, the whole concept, the vibe, the dance and everything is just legendary

Glad you enjoyed them. They're also very fun to watch outside their performances like on variety shows. In kpop dances the center is a constant feature. So having an even number of members prevents that symmetry needed for a center. That's why you'll see one stand behind the center during their performances - to pretend they have five members. I hope that they can design around that in the future but for now that's a thing that happens.

fun fact: I had the same exact "minnie crush awakening" as you did😂 casually discovering omg got me to stan gidle, so i started watching their older videos and BAM, as soon as i entered the fandom and saw latata's m/v without knowing the members i immediately recognised minnie and fell for her and her voice! she's my bias now, i guess it was predictable...

24:30 Yes it has the same melody with Oh my god. I think I saw some articles/interview that Soyeon made Oh my god first before Lion, but Lion was release on November 2019, and Oh my god was on April 2020. Since Lion was just a side track of their latest album with Oh my god as title track. Lion was just a song for Queendom, a survival show with girl groups competing, (Ohmygirl, mamamoo, lovelyz, Park Bom of 2ne1, AoA, gidle). You should check it out, esp. gidle's performances. Your reaction in Lion was the same as mine. I think they did AHMAZINGGG particularly in Lion, they did even BETTER in OMG. They have a unique concept so people wont get bored, their vocals are on point, their visuals are no joke, also the cinematography is insane. Thats why i personally love gidle more than itzy, like u LMFAO. I think shuhua's part in lion is kinda similar to OMG. But STILL they are doing super well.

The element you picked up on, that accented if not staccato segment in Lion is very like OMG. There is a fine line between having a recognizable style and simply repeating the same thing over & over, and they were right on it...but they stayed in bounds. And then, with their next song, they carefully avoided it.

LOVED this reaction! Idle is THAT group! The moment you think you understand them or try to peg them in a genre they tear down that expectation every time! Being a fan of them is the best because of that, versatile queens! And don't worry about not being able to have a definitive bias, that seems to be the problem for most.. Neverland is the most ot6 fandom I've ever seen because picking a true bias is almost impossible as they all wreck each other haha I do lean towards Soyeon more as I've been her fan since before debut so I'm loving watching her journey go from a smol humble rap prodigy to a SELF MADE LION QUEEN and being the leader of a highly successful and evolutionary group that breaks boundaries and stereotypes of the kpop industry. For M/V's I highly recommend you check out Senorita, Uh-Oh, and Blow Your Mind (Written and produced by Minnie btw!). Also if you're interested in their live stage stuff ALL of the Queendom performances are beyond ICONIC(Latata, say no/put it straight, fire and Lion), their immortal songs stage, MMA 2018 stage and their "All That Jazz" kcon cover!

Put it straight nigtmare version and lion performance at queendom is their legendary performance. I'm become fan of them after watching Queendom. Latata performance in Queendom also legendary.

Yoohyeon _and_ JiU; they _both_ had red hair in Piri. ;) (In the bits where there were two JiUs and you couldn't see the face of one of them, the other one was actually Yoohyeon :) ) Also, yeah, not many people play batshit crazy like Soyeon. And are you familiar with Onewe, the band from Rainbow Bridge World (Mamamoo's label)? A) They just dropped a new album, which is fantastic, and B) They have covers of Latata and Hip on their channel, among others. Latata is actually how I discovered them, and that cover blew me away. Just sayin'.

Soyeon is my bias but they all so cute and sweet! And their charisma, talent.. everything about them is good. I live them so much. I’m so happy you liked it!!!
