@@taseensheikh4140kaagaz ke phool in my opinion is more melodrama and self bashing, an attempted biopic of parallel life that fails at multiple points. But pyaasa is a gem, it's not only the story of guru dutt, but also the story of its lyricist, sahir ludhianvi and the songs are gems So in my opinion, pyasa is superior to the other one but I respect your choice

I saw 'Pyaasa' last year. The climax was something that I never thought a movie of that time would have, with ambiguity and all. Pyaasa shows you that part of society which is not even thought about. Truly a movie ahead of its time.

My dad always speaks about Pyaasa. According to him that film should be considered as the greatest films of the Indian cinema. The way he describes me the songs and the emotion of Guru Dutt ji, I am excited to watch the film. He also recommended that to understand the film better, I should actually watch it when I turn 30( more responsible, understanding and ofc more commitments till 30).

For me, the movie which changed my approach towards what Hindi cinema can be was Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. A movie set in a period which shaped Indian history when we used to write appealing, flowery letters... talks about dichotomy of democracy, transformation of misguided youth, the corruption of power, and compassion in face of hatred. The ending is achingly beautiful. I've revisited this movie many times since I was 19, and as I get older the movie still finds ways to move me.

There have been so many movies in bollywood which changed me a s a cinephile.... one of those movies was gang of wasseypur... which really made curious about exploring cinemas.... and one of those which I really loved was Ugly... even today whenever I think about that that film.... I just can't imagine the ugliness of every character who were in that film... and cinemas like udaan, black firday, johnny gaddar, super deluxe, axone, chippa, atkan chatkan, Love, sex aur dhokha, Omkara, these are some movies which I really love as a cinephile. Also maachis was a great film and recently I watched biopic on phoolan devi bandit queen which was also a great movie. Please suggest me more such movies. I am watching your videos since 2020... but to be honest this is your one of the best and important video till date.

Hi this is Satyam from VidBang. I surely love No Smoking and the screenplay of the movie. I haven't yet watched Ship of Theseus yet but would definitely take your recommendation. For me, who is very fond of American Sitcoms like The Office, TBBT, Young Sheldon, B99 etc. I always thought Bollywood can never do effortless comedy. Sure I loved films by Priyadarshan and a few over the top guilty pleasures of Govinda, but for me the game changer was these two films - Jane Bhi Do Yaaron and Angoor. I reckon Angoor was an adaptation of Comedy of Errors, but I think they did it well. Jane Bhi Do Yaaron, on the other hand, made me realise as a filmmaker the importance of screenplay. What do you think about it?

It was Hirok Rajar deshe for me. Being a child, it hit me hard in my 5th 6th grade! Ray's movies being always popular, I think his movies had influenced all Bengali teens during that era. Pother pachali I saw at very later stages, during 11th 12th standard. It was such a grounded experience, that you start feeling real homely emotions as interacting with own family.

I watch all sort of films, from Mithun Da's Gunda to Anand Gandhi's Ship of Theseus. And I think Ship of theseus is one of the best work this 21st century. But the two films that changed me the way I looked at Indian cinema were: Om Dar-B-Dar by Kamal Swaroop; ever since I watched this movie I have never been the same. It's a crazy wild wild experience I really don't know how to describe or articulate it. The othe one is Court by Chaitanya Tamhane. I never really felt Indian cinema could represent out society in such a subtle metaphorical way until I saw Court.

Salam बॉम्बे ke description ko dekhkar mujhe kahna hai ki jis era of film se isse compare kiya gaya h wo bolkil lagag hai. Haa wo bhle hi kuchh saalon ke hi antar me bane ho (80s & 90s) par unka era alag tha. Ek taraf salam bombay ke time pr 80s me jyada grass rooted cinema bann rhi thi jinme lower middle class ke struggles ko dikhaya jaata tha, unke sapne inki pareshaniya kaise unke personality aur capability ko affect krte h. Wahi 90s me indian market ke globalization ki wazah se jo international market ka access filmakers ke pass aaya tha wo hame ham aapke hain kon, DDLJ jaisi filmon me delhne ko milta tha. Inn filmon me indian society ke prosperious form ko dikhaya jaata tha unlike 80s jahan wo gali nikkad dikhate the, sayad NRIs ko attract krne ke liye. Isiliye inn do periods ki filmon ko direcly ek dusre ke saamne rakhna theek nhi kyonki inka approch bilkul alag tha.
