In the midst of addiction and family struggles, two strangers find a connection while at a truck stop in the deep South.
Autumn, fed up and exhausted, cuts ties with her heroin addict boyfriend in a gas station parking lot. Stranded and alone, she approaches a truck driver eating by himself. The two strangers find a common bond as they awkwardly share a table.

🦋 what surprises me most about a lot of things I watch on KZfaq are the amount of comments compared to the amount of use. You can’t just write a comment and say that you enjoyed it or it wasn’t your cup of tea but good work to everybody who made the film. Believe it wasn’t anything that you couldn’t just say, or put up a thumbs up? Try to show support when people are trying to do something the directors after all of the support people they’re all trying to get through school and make a life for themselves. Anyway, the positive thing is is if there were that many people that viewed it, and for that I am grateful.

🦋 Being the mother of one of the actors, it was interesting to read the several comments.

🦋 I’m pretty sure I cannot give a good film school analysis of this film, but I will tell you what my take is on it as an adult who’s lived some life. 1. Young peoples relationships. 2. Drug addiction. 3. How that addiction, affects other people, known and unknown. 4. Truck driver out on the road by himself in a dilemma because his truck breaks down and it’s gonna cost him a lot of money that he doesn’t even have. 5. Truck driver so exhausted from driving to many hours he’s so tired, falls asleep and calls his daughter too late. 6. Finds out that his wife or his ex is seeing someone else. 7. Has to go back out on the highway, with all this emotion going on, and drive an 18 wheeler. 8. Truck driver can’t be there for his own child, and he makes a decision to help someone else’s child. 9. Guy at the game machine in the convenience store wins in the middle of a dilemma where everybody seems like they’re losing. 10. Truck driver keeps young lady from chasing after her drug addict boyfriend. He calms her down and gives her support even though she’s a total stranger he realizes she’s someone else’s child, and he helps. 11. He invites her to celebrate his daughters birthday with him. That’s just for starters. 💕

I found this to be a compelling story but I am struggling to understand why. What transformation did any of the characters undergo? What was the relationship between the young lady and the young man? What did the gambler contribute to the narrative? I would love to read an analysis of the story by the writers. I enjoyed the long two-shot in the cafe -- My compliments to the director for being brave enough to keep the camera rolling. Nice performances by all the actors, even the secondary players. Overall, well done -- I just wish I knew what it was all about.

@@FilmSchoolShorts I read the entire Director's Note and it provided me with the insight I was seeking. As a film student myself, although from many years ago, I could certainly relate to the challenges the making of this film presented to the creative team. I believe all my questions have now been answered and, with that, I can say I believe this film is an excellent piece of art that demonstrates the potential talent each of the principle filmmakers possesses. My congratulations on creating such a fine piece of cinema. I hope it goes onto the festival circuit and receives the accolades it deserves. I further hope that this showcase provides the springboard to a number of successful careers. Thank you for sharing this project on this forum.
