The amount of restriction from the filter frame and underside horizontal strapping cannot be ignored, especially when cut down to such a small sample size.

Yeah they messed that up for sure, but I have looked through the data when it used to be available and they do have the lowest static pressure drop of any of the filters on the market except maybe specialized filters like an Aprilaire

Unfortunately, the ductwork in most homes can't accommodate a 4" thick air filter. The most common filters available are 1" thick.

Filter buy has the same performance ratings as Lennox but for less cost Ive used them both in my furnace they both work very well

Did you do a pressure drop test?

Pretty interesting, I'm curious what's the CFM rating for all products that has been showen.

hey, what is the machine that floats the ball before putting the filter, is it a blower or the pipe attached to the pressure gauge???

Impressive, but Did the lennox have 5 inch filters compared to the 4 and 1 inch 3m.

How long does your Merv 16 filter last in a home in normal conditions, one year?
@HDusten112 жыл бұрын
This could be anywhere from 3 months to 18months. It really depends on the air quality around you. For instance I have a large construction project going on within a quarter mile of my home and ever since it started the dust accumulation in my home has gone up nearly 10 fold. I'm running this filter now and expect to need to change it out within 6 months. Edit: if you have the room inside your filter box you could pre-filter this filter with a Merv 5 to 8 rated 1" filter to extend it's lifetime a fair bit. This won't be recommended by any professional however the static pressure increase from a low Merv pre-filter will be negligible.
@billybassman212 жыл бұрын
About a year or longer if you use the cheap fiberglass filters at the return and replace them monthly.
@scotta91142 жыл бұрын
It would be a lot better if there was a coarse pre-filter. This MERV 16 Filter is very costly.

Just get a fiberglass filter for AC and buy an air purifier dedicated to filtering the air so your hvac motors don’t work hard and fry themselves

At what CFM are these pressure drops?
@DBravo29er8 ай бұрын
Exactly. This test is only valid for a single CFM flow rate.

This video misleading. The narrator says the Lennox filters are 4” but if you look close they are actually both 5” thick so not apples to apples when comparing to 4” filters.
@CharlesReinmuth2 жыл бұрын
I was wondering what was going on. From my research, they don't sell 4 inch filters, which is the max size my furnace will take!
@attacknblack19842 жыл бұрын
Actually, if we’re begging actual, it’s actually 4 3/8” thick!
@TrendyStone Жыл бұрын
It's 4 3/8" and designed to fit in the standard 5" filter trey which most new home units use. The point that airflow is good with these filters is valid.
@totheknee Жыл бұрын
Well, worse is that they test with competitor's products where the filter is 30% paper structural border. But the Lennox sample has like 10% paper covering.

I'm so tired of the restrictive nature of 3m filtrete... I'm going to put these directly in my normal 2" grille and just tape them in... Air quality > all... At some later date I'll retrofit all my normal registers [ 3 in my home ] to accept the 5 inch media.
@marcsmith38812 жыл бұрын
I agree. I have a house full of allergy sufferers including myself. We have a new system only using a 1" furnace filter. I am waiting for an estimate to upgrade so it can receive 5" filters.
@fixitrod49692 жыл бұрын
3m mpr 1900 if your forced to use 1 inch. Check out a KZfaq channel called 'project farm'. I've seen those tested on 2 diffrent sites. Around a 1.8 or 1.9. It's still a 1 inch filter but safer for your furnace than more restrictive units.

Why doesn't Lennox add displays to its equipment so consumers can understand issues like this if issues happen from the filters? This video won't help consumers. Companies like Apple thrive because they put consumer experience at the forefront instead creating archaic equipment.
@franciscogonzalez95652 ай бұрын
This video is misleading, I design hvac systems with MERV 20 at PD of 0.24"wc and MERV 13 @ 0.12" wc PD. and I don't use Lennox products.
@gurugee211219 күн бұрын
so whose filters do you use?
@Brian-xu9uqАй бұрын
This is such a biased video from Lennox. So they’re measure pressure drop , aka, the resistance of the filter. A few things others have pointed out along with my observations. The study tests filters that aren’t consistent in thickness and number of pleats. Generally, the more filter media material, the lower the pressure drop. The video starts with, these filters have not been altered in any way, yet they’re cut and glued to make a smaller segment. I’m seeing some obvious extra cardboard material on the non Lennox filters 😂. We came here for a scientific tests and I was hoping they wouldn’t be so biased but that’s never the case with these big corps.
