Thanks! Don't know how Google can be so unclear about this, since it's a fundamental feature for most websites. We should be able to create views as in UA, because with all domains together, the data becomes useless. In my case we have app, blog, old website and new website all in the same domain.

Currently we recommend separate property for each unit that has significantly different business purpose AND a rollup property that bundles all the data together. Any combo/variation in a single additional property that makes sense to an analyst is also more than welcome!

Thank you for this video - it’s really well explained! I’m still struggling with google analytics picking up my desktop and I’ve just realised why: the ip address regularly changes!! How do I deal with that?
@DataDrivenU

Unless you don't change access point your IP shouldn't not change... however here are the steps to prevent from this happening in the future www.trendnet.com/press/resource-library/how-to-set-static-ip-address

Is there a more efficient way to filter out subdomains on a global level than by doing it for each report 1 by 1? Thanks for your video
@DataDrivenU
@DataDrivenU 9 ай бұрын
You could place a separate GA4 data stream for each subdomain you want to analytze individually... In the Rollup property (like the one in the video) I don't think there's a way to filter out subdomains globally

What is not clear in your explaination is "how" to use a filter once its activated. For example, lets see how you take your custom filter and apply it to a specific report. How does one do that?
@DataDrivenU
@DataDrivenU Жыл бұрын
Not sure I understand which filters do you refer to... Dev traffic and internal IPs never reach your reports (if fully set as explained). Filters in a report itself can be added temporarily (by clicking on "Add filter+" button) or permanently by clicking on the pencil icon (customize report) and adding filter/saving the report

The fact they launched GA4 without adequate account level filters is so dumb. GA4 is under baked and should still be in BETA

Hey, thanks for your videos, they're great and very informative. I've created a user explorer report to try and find users who started a session last previous 3 month period, but did not start a session this 3 month period. I hope that it will give us a list of users who have not returned, 'non returning users'. The only problem is that I see all users in this list at the moment and I would like to filter out the users who did start a session this month, so I am left with the users who did not start a session. Do you know if this is possible with a custom filter? I hope I'm making sense :) Thanks in advance!

It would be nice if we have account filters that would exclude those domains. Like we have in UA. 😅

@DataDrivenU how I can exclude some dates from all my overview reports? I have a few days with anomalies and I would like for example when I see the overview of users during the last 12 months, the information of those days are excluded directly

Hey - there's a Data deletion section in the Admin - choose all params on all events and the proper daterange - and that's it! But you better know what you're doing, because it's gonna be all gone!

Thank you for this, its very useful! We have a client with multiple subdomains that we now have to create a filter report to see the correct data. Is it possible to exclude users from the report based on an action they take? So for example, exclude users who login from the main domain (when they login it takes them to a dubdomain).
@DataDrivenU
@DataDrivenU Жыл бұрын
If you define a user-scoped custom event called e.g 'logged_in' you could segment in your main reporting interface. Otherwise, referral parameter is still accessible in Explorations - so I'd go in there and try to exclude those who came from your principal domain. We have a video on Self-referrals in GA4 (it's a scary one though!:) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJeaf8WgrdTHkok.html thx for the kind words!

Thanks for this content, I find it very interesting and useful for every marketer. One question, do you know if it is possible to tag internal traffic to not identify what we do internally and not lose this data? My goal was to create an audience through a localised IP but there is no such function. On the other hand, if we have a website where there is a register and in which all of us who have the email address of our company are the administrators and therefore it is internal traffic. Is there any possibility to identify it as such and to be able to see the data of the past excluding this traffic?
@DataDrivenU
@DataDrivenU Жыл бұрын
The trivial solution for the future could be to utm tag the link that your internal ppl use to access the website.. for the past, well, perhaps a location based segment helps? I know it's weak but can't think of a better solution atm

I want to block all my IP adresses from appearing in the reports (home, coworking, phone, etc.) Do I need to create 3 different filters in the first step (Data filters) for each of my IP adresses? I don't see how the first step (Data filters) and the second step (Data Streams) are linked together... And it's not accepting none of my IP adresses. Do I need to add /32 at the end? Also, I dont have Engagement > Event in the menu on the left like you showed. How do I activate it? (I just installed Google Analytics and haven't touched it in like 10 years... it's really not user friendly!)
@DataDrivenU
@DataDrivenU Жыл бұрын
Just one filter will keep out multiple IPs: click Dat Stream > Config tag > Show more > Define internal traffic .. there's a button "add condition" which allows you to define s many IP rules as you need. If you don't see Engagement on the left hand side - click Library at the bottom of the Reports slide-in menu and find LifeCycle collection and activate it by clicking on three dots Sounds complicated, I know but once you get familiar with it, everything becomes super easy

Dear Admin, Thanks for the video and responding to all comments as well. As per your video, I can create filters for specific pages. But, I have two domain hostings Staging and Production. I would like to use one Hostname filter(Production) which is applying to the whole GA4 reports. May I know, Where I can add the filter? Thanks in advance.
@DataDrivenU
@DataDrivenU Жыл бұрын
if you have the same mesurement ID installed on both - you're gonna have to filter based on hostname for each report... but why do you have same measurement ID for both in the first place?
@livestudentcode2248
@livestudentcode2248 Жыл бұрын
@@DataDrivenUThanks for the response. One for Internal User Tracking and Another One for External User Tracking (So using the same measurement ID). May I know, How to create a hostname data filter rather than creating multiple filters for each report? I mean one filter that reflects for whole GA4 reports.
@DataDrivenU
@DataDrivenU Жыл бұрын
@@livestudentcode2248 Unfortunately there's no hostname filter for the whole GA4 property - you'll have to do it one report at a time

What if our company website has thousands of employees? And we cant add all the IP addresses? What is the workaround?
@DataDrivenU
@DataDrivenU Жыл бұрын
if 1000s of employees keep visiting company website, they could share a VPN - it can get costly though, so it might still be more cost efective to add 1000s of IPs :) Thx for your comment, Vlashka Magijo!

Try the new method "Filter GA4 internal traffic ba Self-ID". It should work for any number of remote employees.
