Toyota 4Runners, FJ Cruisers, and Lexus GX460 and GX470 models require very specific rear shock lengths depending on stance and lift height. This video explains why different length shocks are needed and covers a few very common industry mistakes. By Ben Brazda, owner of Filthy Motorsports.

My takeaway was I was smart ordering from you and going with the King remote resi setup with the springs and bump stops you suggested for my 4runner 👍🏻

Great video! Could you please do one on the 07 to 13 Suburban’s and Tahoe’s? 7” lift is the most common drop differential lift put on these SUV’s because of the long wheelbase. I’d share the video with the numerous Overlanding groups I belong to. Thank you for your great videos!

Hello, thank you for an extremely information video. For a FJ cruiser in stock rear springs, what would you suggest is the ideal height adjustment for the 2.5 kings coil over? Personally I think the FJ’s stock height clearance is sufficient for desert driving and not keen to raise it too much. But equally, given your video, I don’t obviously want it to not have sufficient down or up travel. And if you do recommend a height adjustment that results in a higher than stock height, does one need wheel spacers to widen the track (because of the higher center of gravity)? Thank you !!

for the 4runner desiring a 2.5 inch lift in the front and 2.0 inch lift in the rear, what length rear shocks would you then recommend?

So I should lift my 5th gen 1 1/14 to 1 1/2 inch in the front leave the rear alone and call it good? I was looking to do kings 2.5 front and rear from you guys.

I have the Metal Tech Long travel springs. They are much taller then the stock and 300# over OME springs I’ve tried. They require a specific Icon shock and a 2” bump stop block. I would like to get rid of the 2” block. Can you explain where the center point of up and down travel would be with these?

I'm thinking my JDM land cruiser 70 series "Prado" kzj78 is similar in the rear end? It's a live axle, single-per-side trailing arm setup with no limiting straps or anything. Good information, thank you!

Correct, any time a vehicle is lifted above stock height, the length of the shocks need to reviewed to make sure they match up correctly. Glad you enjoyed it!
