Honestly thought that wasn’t bad at all, if I was a pure daylighter then I’d go for that (if I hadn’t already bought the pocket 2) as a LOT of my filming is at night though that slightly larger sensor still has me with DJI. Nice review mate

Hi Davinci, I just bough a Fimi Palm Pro 2 and downloaded Fimi Play apps in my Iphone. I still explore the function of Palm Pro 2. However, I find the app is not work after I connected the Wifi. Should I need to made any setting for the Fimi Play apps or Palm pro 2 ? Or is it anything incorrect procedure or process ?

Not a bad price at all.. actually.. I'm sure they will do firmware updates to hopefully fix some small sound issues on internal sound.. which sounded a little low too me.. and maybe get better quality in the camera.. it doesn't look bad outside

Wow, was not expecting Fimi to upgrade the sensor so soon 🙂 Good review so far. A tip for reviewing the Palm 2 (and probably Pro): turn on HDR for indoors and low light, because it looks a lot more natural. Note though that HDR doesn't automatically turn on when turning on the camera, even when set to on. You need to toggle HDR on each time you turn the camera on for it to work.

@@HowToGuyChannel Yeah, that's probably due to AWB. I don't use AWB because the colours aren't too great. I now set WB to 5700k for outdoor shooting and 5000k for indoor shooting

There are 2 closely priced contenders: The Feyutech pocket 1 and DJI pocket 1. These can be bought for the same price roughly new or slightly used..Which is similar price to Palm 2 pro. The Feyuteck has a really wide view like fimipalm, but apparently not good audio. The DJI has narrow fov. Would be excellent to also compare this trio.👍

Hi, I have a serious issue with my Fimi Palm 2 Pro. So I was wondering if you know if it's fixable or not? The audio keeps going out of sync on random files. Some are perfectly in sync, then on some it goes way out of sync! As a result I've not been using it! Any idea what's wrong with it & have you had this happen before or heard of it happening on this model? Thanks very much!

Mateo.. the sound options are not as flexible as the DJI Pocket 2.. I believe when you record using an external mic its seperating the sound into the left or right channel.. I'm not sure if it's true stereo.. I'm no Sound expert though.. I'll have to test more

Yes, the number 2 came out, and it wasnt good.. they improved the sensor, and it all generally seems a little better

Thanks for the video. Correct me if I am wrong - It looks like Fimi Palm 2 Pro supports the Rode Wireless Go 2. Can I confirm with this and if it required any adaptor / additional cable in order to make this connecting / working? As I am planning to get both of these after watching your video but some said the fimi palm is not as flexible as dji pocket for external microphone. I am afraid the rode wireless go 2 end up cannot connect with the fimi palm 2 pro.

That is correct I was able to get the RODE 2 working on it :) the sound seemed OK.. I think they managed to fix the sound a bit since the Old Fimi Palm 2 .. why do you say it cant connect to the Fimi Palm 2 Pro ?

@@HowToGuyChannel actually it only has a very limited review for fimi palm 2 pro. And the question i had.. it may come from the review from fimi palm 2 or fimi palm one. At least the fimi palm 1 needs a base adaptor in order to connecting an external microphone. i am still like 50 50 between the fimi palm 2 pro vs pocket 2. simply because its nearly the end of product cycle for pocket 2 as well as lacking of wide angle like fimi palm. tho pocket 2 got a better video quality if you could only own one of the pocket gimbal. which one will you pick and why?

Hmm.. the fimi 1 was not that bad.. I think if you want the firmware updates on the new camera which might come.. it might be worth getting the new one, also it seems overall a little better than all the others especially the number 2, and you live in Hong Kong.. meaning you have tons of money, so buy the sony a7siii

@@HowToGuyChannel looking forward to this one. I think the Pocket 1 will win for image quality, internal audio, and tracking. But lose regarding battery life, narrow fov, and costly accessories if you want to plug in an external mic for example, and panning tool, tripod adaptor...

It would be cool if they somehow added live streaming capabilities to the camera. The Pocket 2 is supposed to have this feature but i never see anyone use it. I would try but I can barely get my phone to connect to the device.

Put all your cameras in row with same settings (ISO, SS, A) and compare in different light from dark to daylight. There's no this kind video in youtube. Make video of those in row. From 1/2.3 to FF). KZfaq is full of comparing 2 cameras but not in bigger scale.

@@HowToGuyChannel I asked this because I did Pocket 2 vs EOS 250D by myself in low light. Both were 800 ISO and 1/50 SS. Pocket 1.8 and EOS 250D was 2.8. (Ofc you cannot compare values directly but anyways) Pocket 2 is 1/1.7 sensor and 250D is APS-C sensor. What was surprising I got nearly same noise in video. 250D was better colors and Pocket 2 a bit flat colors (could color grade ofc) but the real surprise was how much noise both made. It was nearly identical. Only color science was different. Should APS-C get more light and better video? Well seems not so simple. This is why I want you to try similar things. Set same SS and ISO and compare those between devices. Results are surprising.

"DJI Pocket 2 does not allow tracking at 4K30"? Really? Anyway, I'm obsessive about the audio side of things, and as I recall it, the original FP2 only recorded in mono even using an external mic. It certainly could only record in mono using the built in mic (singular). Is the new model any better in that respect? Otherwise that's a dealbreaker for me - the original always did have some advantages over the Pocket 2 (tracking, HDR, and some other smaller details) but at the end of the day, its chief advantage was price, and that seems to be the case with the new version. Still it's good to have a lower cost option to introduce this type of camera to a wider audience. BTW the Fimi tracking is based on face recognition - any face - so if you leave the room and come back in, it will continue to track, unlike the Pocket 2. Then again, it will continue to track someone else's face in that scenario, which may not be intended, but it's fun if you set it up in front of a TV screen and watch it frantically tracking all the faces as they come and go. Well, fun for me anyway.

I should have clarified the tracking.. it doesnt work in HQ mode 4k 30, battery saver mode will work.. The Sound seems to be the same as the old one, maybe a smidge better.. the External mic sounds better and connected with no issue, but I had my RODE at -9DB so I need to test it at -6 to see if I can get better Audio.. I cant remember If it was stereo out the box internally on the new Pro.. I will check that Peter, this video was done in like an hour.. I recall the Fimi Tracking does track any face, you mentioned that in one of your previous comments.. I will do more testing on the camera.. It does seem better than the old one.. the low light is not wonderful though, but maybe they could do something with Firmware.. I think they can get more out that 1/2 inch sensor

@@HowToGuyChannel While of course sensor size is important, it's also important what they do with it - eg the Action 2 has a bigger sensor than the GoPro 10 but I've not seen any footage which shows that advantage in lower light. Anyway, your hour was well spent - it's not a Pocket 2 killer but it's not an embarrassment either, especially as it's early FW. I use the original FP2 as a carry-around camera for kodak moments, or for risky shots where it would be cheaper to destroy than the Pocket 2!

Peter that is a valid point, in some ways the Fimi Palm 2 does have pretty good support, they do release firmware quiet often.. so maybe they will get some camera sales, and continue to improve it:) they on the right track

I much preferred the original Fimi Palm, to the DJI Pocket 2, especially after all the P2 problems when it was first released. But these days the poor old Fimi sits gathering dust on a shelf, while the Pocket 2 has improved greatly and become my favourite little camera. DJI are probably the most innovative mass camera manufacturer in the world, whereas Fimi seem to just trail behind, semi-copying other firm's ideas. If Fimi had stuck their necks out and built in a 1" sensor in the 2 Pro, that might have caught my interest. So, apart from keeping my fingers crossed that there might be a Pocket 3 released soon, I'm quite happy to carry on with my old P2
