Ngl I’ve been struggling with my mental health for years. Never been to a psychologist nor talked with my family. This song realy to me feels like how I’ve been trying to deal with and fix myself to no avail and the glass keeping everything is braking, and the emotions drowning me. Trying to fix it even though I know it’s near impossible. I don’t know weather this is what you intended, but thank you 😊

I came here to say something similar. I recently discovered this song and for me it's about compartmentalizing. When everything seems out of control you can have your own little place in your head. A ship in a bottle. Someplace where your baggage gets thrown off the edge and you can focus on being the Capitan of your life.

I’m glad I’m not alone. My stepbro showed this song to me and my creative mind immediately made me realize how much I related to this. I don’t want to get into my own personal problems but I’ll just say that the captain is my dad, the glass/bottle is my safety, and the ship is his house. I’ve been listening to this song all month. Guess I’ve found my new favorite song lol-

came to echo this. I hear the character having a conversation with himself, the duality of man. He is the captain and as such is responsible for his life, mental health, world view, etc. and is trying to take responsibility by reminding himself that no one is getting him out of danger but himself. Then we hear the pained cries of the self that is terrified and is feeling silenced in that fear, the self that is desperate to keep the glass bottle that he thinks is saving him from the waves, but in reality is sinking him to oblivion. The bottle is the only thing keeping the waves at bay, the waves being feelings, both good and bad. Thoughts are weighing down the ship, and glass (world view) is cracking, and those thoughts are trapped in the bottle and can't be processed healthily without being released in the environment of feelings (open sea). He wants to "pop the cork" to free himself because his plan of being safe in the bottle is the thing that is going to kill him, but there is a very real part of him that is absolutely terrified of the feelings (outside open sea). I see this self crying out as personal trauma, the part of him that needs to be heard and reprocessed before he can pop the cork and get back to a healthier and happier life and release the need of a glass bottle. That's how I interpret it for me, anyways ^^

I doubt you will see this, but I love this song and would really like to cover it in a talent show, but there is no instrumental I can find. Do you guys have one I just haven't found?
