Cricut Tip: You can type your entire word, sentence, phrase in a single textbox. Size it the way you want it, then press "Advanced" and "Ungroup to Letters" and it'll seperare all the letters for you! Instead of you creating a new text box for each letter. Hope this helps you save a little time while creating!

I think it is time to get a Cricuit! I´m in year 24! I bought one for my daughter her first year of teaching with the agreement that she would make what I needed. She is way too busy with her own classroom set up to also have to do mine!

One thing I do on my cricut to help me measure is to place a shape of the space I’m going to use on my cricut design space grid. For example, if I wanted to make a header for a 5ft bulletin board I would put a square that measured 60 in then place the letters to fit that square. Delete the square and ungroup the letters to cut.

The clutter pile! I do the same. My mom gave me a book called "How to Clean Your Room!" when I was 8 and that's what it had me do. I still do it to this day in my classroom.

It took me 4 ours to setup my classroom. 24 tables, 2 closets, 1 chalkboard. All kids new pencils and crayons and we are ready to go. Of course we made a chalk drawing about the storytelling for this year. Lol. It is so nice to see how others doing it.

Cricut tip: you can use the square and make it the size of the paper and fit your letters in there That way you don’t have to do any extra work and you’ll know what it looks like on the paper or that size!

Loving your classroom, it's beautiful. Thanks for sharing the information on the Cricut, however don't have one or a laminating machine.. I'm afraid I'm doing it the same old way, clear tape and cutting with scissors. However I definitely see how much time u save have those machines. Can you share more on your "Mrs.Coates vs the 2nd graders" how does it work?

Just to share a laugh... KZfaq tried to PLAY me! I was watching and was ready to watching day 5 (I was a few days behind as I had only watched day 1) and clicked the recommended as those have been correct the entire time thus far and I noticed your classroom looked COMPLETELY different... then I realized... that was day 5 of classroom set up for you... 3 years ago 😂

I’ve heard that you can spray paint your laminated letters with two coats of clear matte paint to reduce shine.

I’ve had a cricut since Christmas and I haven’t touched it. It does look pretty simple to use, but sizing the letters is what scares me 😂

I absolutely LOVVVEEE your classroom! It's exactly the classroom I would've wanted as a 2nd grader! Also, do you need to add a "." to Mrs in the Mrs. Coates vs 2nd graders? :P That may not be something 2nd graders learn yet, but my OCD is twitching! haha. I've REALLY been wanting a Cricut to label things around my house (like the spices) & help organize all the closets!

Your added colors to go with the teal and green really make your room pop! It is so pretty. Will you still talk about how you went about planning for a sub to do 4 to 5 months? I hope your sub is a veteran as taking over at the beginning of the year with the uncertainty of covid rules seems so daunting! How old is Cade now? Also, you are amazing. if you ever want to hot glue to the wall put down masking or painters tape onto the wall and put the hot glue onto the tape and then when you’re done with them you can just peel the tape off and there’s no hot glue or paper stuck in those little spaces

So I am curious…with you laminating and then cutting out doesn’t that break that lamination seal and cause it to come apart? The very first time I learned how to laminate I was show to cut and then laminate the letters and then cut them out so they are sealed but this would save so much time!

I'm not sure if you have already mentioned it but what is the length of the magnetic rod you use for your dates on the white board? I love that idea and have a couple in my amazon cart but I want it to be long enough to fit day of the week, month, date, year on it.

I used laminated paper, so I set it to cardstock. I would try setting it to Posterboard if it was laminated cardstock!

Do you always use the medium cardstock and default pressure when cutting laminated cardstock? I tried to do it using those settings and I found that the laminate peeled away from the cardstock when it was finished

I have played with different pressures! When it's laminated cardstock I usually do the most pressure. This was just laminated regular paper, so I didn't need to!

Hey girl, why do you type each letter individually? Just type the words, and set the size at the top in setting.

I did it for the sake of the video!! Also, when they are individual you can space them out better! But you can type the whole word and just ungroup them. Same thing!

I tried to laminate my cardstock then cut with my Cricut and it didn't cut all the way through. So disappointed.

You have to change the material because it’s now thicker than just cardstock. Put it on poster board and try that!
