@@JoshuaTimothy I think I’ve been editing on and off for about 3 years. I started with KineMaster before they changed. I was only editing on an iPad. I have a great Mac but I hate being limited to my desk at home. Then I thought I was upgrading from KineMaster to Premier Rush but it was awful! You could hardly do anything creative. I also played around with VN and watched a bunch of videos to see what I should invest in and learn more of when FCP for iPad came out. I want to learn on my Mac, but, once again, I hate being limited to working only at home at my desk. So I’m giving this a shot for maybe a year and then I will move over to the Mac, I guess.

Thank you so much. Great tutorial and great commertial video by the way. I am now choosing between iPad Pro 12.9 m1 or m2 and MBA M1. I am a beginner. According to some reports, the work flow in some video editing programs on iPP is faster and less glitching than on MBA. Have you had any experience to compare working on a similar project on these two devices?

That is a hard decision. You probably won't notice a huge difference editing on a M1 vs M2 iPad Pro, so you'd be safe with either. If you are going to be doing lots of video work, I'd recommend at least 512GB of storage. I'm wishing I got the 1 tb version for some of my bigger projects. Final Cut Pro on iPad still imports footage directly onto the iPad for editing from external SSDs, so you need a larger storage iPad. Now Final Cut Pro on the MBA allows editing off of SSDs without copying the files to internal storage, so you could potentially have more storage space to work with. Even though more advanced editing is available on the Mac version of Final Cut, you'll have to decide which works best in your use case. The iPad is capable of editing 90% of my videos. What kind of videos do you hope to edit?

Although it is possible in a very complex workaround way, the current version of Final Cut Pro for iPad imports the files into the project storage on the iPad. Hopefully they update this soon.

No probably do to music copyrights. You can import any music files you have directly from the files app.

You have to add transitions to each clip. What kind of video are you currently editing?

It’s holiday stuff, a mix of video and stills, I have done editing for 30 years on PC towers then laptop using Adobe Premiere and more recently Sony Vegas, films were for local competition, I have done a few wedding videos using at least 2 camcorders.

Ella, your welcome. I appreciate you being here and watching. As with you I’m super excited for Final Cut on the iPad. Sadly, you cannot use LUTs on the iPad version quite yet. I hope Apple updates this soon. I will keep you updated here on the channel as soon as it’s available.

@@JoshuaTimothy There are some LUTs built in into FCP iPad - ARRI Log C, BMD Film, Canon Log, 2, 3, Nikon N-Log, Panasonic V-log, Sony S-log 2, 3, Cine. Doesn't seem to be possible to import more LUTs yet.

I haven’t decided yet, I need to spend more time in Final Cut on the iPad Pro to choose a preference. They are both really good, and both do things that the other one doesn’t do. Have you tried Final Cut yet?

More shots of ipad and action and less shots of you. Reduce shots off you to 90% and focus on what is important - the iPad and the software.

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely try to bring in a human element to teaching and technology, probably based on the fact that I hate tutorials which don’t show who is talking and feeling quite robotic. But I understand how some people would prefer a different style.
