wow ff xiv, what a game literally had one of the worst launches and was thought to be a trashy game, but fast forward today, with a bit of revision and care, it's one of the best multiplayer rpgs out there

You expressed interest in the tattoos some of the characters have. Those characters are part of a group of scholars from Sharlayan, the big white city from the Endwalker trailer with the big library. The tattoo indicates that they've completed the equivalent of a Doctorate degree, and had their thesis accepted by the city's academic council.

The guy with the spear is called Estinien, and he's on our side. He started out as a dragoon (Dragon hunters) and has kind of evolved into a fantasy/hobo version of batman, helping us from the shadows while also directly avoiding us at every possible turn.

I always get a lil emotional from the 1st video, when the "old man" smiles, as he's not doing this for himself, but for his grandkids. They are in-game.

That pretty boy represents the player character. They just made him a generic human male for the trailers, but it is basically insert yourself here.

Imma be real watching people who never played FFXIV react to the trailers and making their own small theories are super refreshing. If you guys ever do have the chance to play the game I 100% recommend it. It's a bit of a time dump, but a worth it time dump indeed.

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who had that "they're going to bang" reaction to the Stormblood cinematic. And yeah, the main character is the same dude every time. This game allows players to change their class or "job" at will, and they are considered canonical; the player character really can "do it all". He is a stand in for *you*.

I never watched them back to back like this, but now I'm realizing that without the 2 years of story between each of the expansion releases, it seems as if the world is ALWAYS kinda ending 😂

A little context for all the trailers:

The composer of the game soundtrack, Masayoshi Soken, was battling cancer while composing the music for the new expansion. He was in hospital for several months and only told two people about it, all of his other coworkers didn't know. And he kept writing music even in the months he was in the hospital 😭 He revealed this on stage at fanfest 2021 (where the team shows fans new things about the game) and the whole crew cried on stage, this team truly is amazing and I am feeling honored to be a tiny part of this even if I'm just a player ❤️

No matter how many times I watch Flames of Truth, Bahamut being unsealed still gives me goosebumps. He’s just so fucking cool.

- Flames of Truth: This is actually not the trailer but a reward for people who have completed an in-game raid which ties up the results of what happened between 1.0 and 2.0 (A realm reborn). The actual trailer stops at the fade-to-white and then shows the land 5 years in the future where things pick back up. The heroes reappear there after Louisoix (the old man) sends them away from death. In Flames of Truth we see that all the magic energy (Aether) he collected and the prayers of hope of everyone basically transformed him in the physical embodiement of the 'god' Phoenix and he destroyed the summoned entity (Primal) Bahamut. Who was trapped in that moon for a few thousand years so rightfully angry.

A general rule for Final Fantasy is that if it's not obvious if a character is a girl then it's most likely just a pretty dude. The blond long-haired big-armored scythe-wielding one is in fact a man. I think he's like a prepetual wild-card villain called Zenos yae Galvus.

I like that you picked up on the warrior of light versus the warrior of darkness part. The point was that the warrior of light is tipping the scale, he eventually gets taken to another world where the light has all but won and saves them by becoming their warrior of darkness. FFXIV is an amazing game.
