Imagine being a trophy hunter and getting mad that you have to complete multiple parts of the game to get the platinum

They keep saying all these forced minigames...but 90% of them are optional and the ones that are mandatory are usually the easy mode/tutorial part of them. The ones required are dumb easy. I do agree these minigames get hard as hell...but then just don't play them

I think people are complaining about the minigames because they realistically don't have any other complaints, but in my prior experience the mini games in og 7 were much more luck based and harder to get through rather than the mini games in rebirth. Sure there are some mini games that get a huge difficulty spike for some odd reason, but there are some mini games that were made much easier from OG (Im looking at you Chocobo Races)

Imagine hating a Final Fantasy game so much you say it "shouldn't be trying to be another Breath of the Wild with its Open World" when Final Fantasy not only came out decades before Breath of the Wild but has always been known to be an Open World Game with a variety of things you can do... It's like these people never played a single Final Fantasy game let alone one prior to the double digits.

I think these players are mad because they don't realize that Rebirth is part 2/3 of a remake. It's not a sequel. It's the middle point of a story. I think FF fans would be more pissed off if there were little to no mini games.

The mini games are absolutely a huge part of why i bought and enjoyed the game. If i wanted to just swing my sword at stuff for 50 hours I'd play ff16.

If you complaining about minigames you didn’t play the original because they were still there and yeah costa del sol and golden saucer being back to back does completely halt progress but it does taper off after still a great game and some of the minigames are cool and all one and dones

Mini Games are fun, but the main issue people are having is finishing them all, forcing yourself to finish them all as fast as possible is a recipe for frustration.

I actually enjoyed the mini games and ik everyone has different strengths and weaknesses but they didn’t seemed hard to me besides the last fort condor and sit-up challenge but the rest were pretty easy. Only on chapter 9 btw so maybe there’s some wild ones I haven’t played yet

Is it just me, or were all these minigames not even hard? Fort Condor gave me a bit of a rough time until I actually came up with a strategy, but other than that, everything else was easy.

I felt the same as alot of these people about the minigames but i loved every other part of the game and revised my approach to the minigames...pretty much if youre trying to collect everything you can the 1st time around its gonna be frustrating bc its gonna feel like all youre doing is minigames bc most w/ really good rewards take multiple tries to obtain these rewards, so you might end up playing minigames for hours on end...the standard difficulty/story related ones aren't so bad and you have an opportunity to come back for what you want in later chapters, but if you have the mindset to knock it all out asap its gonna feel like all your doing is being frustrated over minigames bc youre letting keep you from the rest of the game...that being said they are a lil too far on the challenging side which kinda contradicts the whole point of a minigame which supposed to something fun and relaxing and a break from the more intense parts of the gameplay

How are you complaining about the Open world aspect when not only FF7 was like that but all FF games are like that. Always been little side stories and quest to do. WAY before Breath of the Wild. I feel like people reviewing this never played a FF game in their life. Even though the original game had mini-games, I will admit that there's a lot more now, but I will also say that these side stories and mini-games are bringing a lot more of these area's to life than the original did, like Costa Del Sol to name one. That literally was just a passer by town and now they made it come to life.

I love the mini games. It breaks up the serious parts. They're fun and there's a variety of types with specific mechanics, not just a re-masked version for each region.

It's crazy to me folks hating on the mini-games so much. There's not many involved with the main scenario, and those that are don't require perfection to progress the story. Also, as you touched on regarding button mashing, that's not the best way to approach combat. However, if button mashing is how one chooses to approach combat, I'd suggest playing on Easy; even so, that would make combat extremely boring IMO. To folks taking issue with "unnecessary bloat", there's no obligation to interact with the semi-open world if you don't wish to. Don't care for it? Cool, contine the main scenario. If one just wishes to experience the story, set the difficulty to Easy and don't worry about side content, as the materia you can obtain via side content will not be necessary to complete the main scenario on Easy.

I will say 90% of the mini games are optional the only one that isn’t is junon’s mini games (the dolphin one and rhythm game) and I think the ones from the gold saucer but not all of them so I disagree with people saying the game is hold back by mini games heck i didn’t even do fort condor and I beat the game just fine on the hardest difficulty with the strongest weapons

This was the most beautiful game I’ve ever played. It really was a work of art to me. I think it’s a masterpiece. I haven’t had this much fun exploring, and playing a AAA game in a long time. But I am heavily invested into the Final Fantasy 7 world.

I got the Plat for Rebirth last night! It was tough, it took a long time, there are too many minigames, and with the exception of maybe the workout against Jules and the box breaking one (Because they're copied from the first game), I wouldn't have it any other way.

The mini games are immersion breaking at times. It's best to do the bare minimum initially, and revisit them after the first playthrough. The piano one might be a platinum dealbreaker for me. i'm progressing ever so slowly with them since I only have the patience to make a handful of attempts at a time before I have to move on and do other stuff. I'm still at 2 A rankings for them. It's still a fantastic game, and instead of N64, i only had playstation after SNES growing up, so FF7 was a huge part of my childhood. Whether I can platinum rebirth or not, it's still amazing. Since I'm not interested in many other games that have been released or announced this year except South Park Snow Day, there is a lot more time to get better at minigames.

Didn't Square add an easy mode for some of the minigames via the last update? I get that they can be a bit tedious and I also wasn't a big fan of some of them ("Fort Condor" and "3D Brawler" in particular), but you really don't have to do most of them. And even if this was a valid aspect to criticize about the game, if that is the only explanation for giving the whole game a score of 4/10 or lower you're just a weirdo.

Mini games in the og, it was hard also but we were little kids.

The minigames are only hard if you are trying to get the high score for them and when has getting the high score for that kind of stuff ever been easy? Getting the lowest score is easy. The only ones that really fall in annoyingly hard are Fort Condor and Gears and Gambits because they require a completely different genre mindset.

I like the combat gameplay. On Normal you can get away with button mashing and win, on Hard mode that is when you really need to start watching mechanics, learn and prepare for boss battle. The game gets so good when you have to learn and adapt to those. Many would say it's easy still in hard mode so add some challenge like no magic allowed.

I’m a trophy hunter myself and for them not to be easy to get is good, only the skilled/determined get to have them. Games shouldn’t be easy, they should be challenging and it’s ALWAYS BEST to play these games in Japanese, US and possibly other don’t put any effort into their characters, they’re dead. They’ve updated a lot of things in Disc 2. I mean there is a story mode ya know, if it’s too difficult for them.

I still haven’t played rebirth(because it’s not on pc yet) but Ngl all the mini games I’ve seen makes me wanna just skip to part 3 and watch part 2 on KZfaq. Even when I played original I kinda hated the mini games. I always felt like the amount of focus on them could’ve been used to focus improving other sections/aspects of game. I’m biased tho. Between Og ff7 and kingdom hearts I kinda grew a lowkey hate towards most mini games.

Imagine complaining about the amount of optional/bonus content. I pray SE doesn't listen to people complaining just for the sake of complaining. You can easily go through the game without playing 90-95% of them if they're that much a problem. You also don't need the gear/items they reward to beat or enjoy the game either. The only valid critic of the mini games is that some of them have stupid difficulty curves on their hard versions.

I beat FF7 Original on the PS1 and i really dont remember doing mini games other then maybe once? and that was at the golden saucer. but that was optional and u didnt NEED to do them and you dont NEED to get the best weapon in the game. if you hate doing them in the new game just dont do em?

I had tons of hate for the game while playing but it’s still an 8 minimum. I hate mini games, I hate monopoly, my hate for mini extends beyond video games 😂. Still a great game, story is just super trash if you like to be a completionist so I had no idea what was going on because it’s just so much to do when I hopped back to story. When I come back to do hard mode I’m sure I’ll like the story more, it’s still a confusing and dragging story but I do love theorizing what the hell is actually happening.

I don’t understand console players complaining about better graphics/performance just by changing ONE setting. Playing my favorite game on both generations was a night and day difference in graphics and performance, even before changing that setting. The games seem almost unrecognizable in some aspects because of how uncanny the graphics upgrade from console generations can be to me. Complaining just to complain.

I don't hate the mini games. I did hate how hard the last Ft Condor was. I had to hit youtube for that and it feels excessive. What I do hate? Geo locks, quest locks, and shit I can't climb. This goes for any and all open world games that do this. Stop showing me shit I can't get into and stop using ambiguous climbing metrics.

Open Worlds are created to enjoy entirely a game. If you dont like the game, or you are just trying out a new game, you wont like it... my experience playing breath of the wild was poor My experience playing Horizon Forbiden West either I agree that destroys any story, ANY, (because the main story is cuted into pieces that where all segments are way too far from the others) Dont think there's much exploring needed to do to beat the game (FF7R) or keeping progressing on it. Any starter item on FF7, can be a end game item. My first gameplay (since I hate open Worlds) I rushed it, (no side content) Loved the story... Its a 10/10 game for me. Then on hard decided to do 100%, and to be fair no minigame on hardmode, Hard dificulty got me stuck more than 30 minutes (without any guides). But Im aware that there will be some endurance challenges on the end that got players stuck for days. The players that are going to play that "hard endurance" content. Are players that really love the game and wont stop playing the game when they beat it the 1st time.

I 100% og ff7 and they had mini games but rebirth added more on top of the old one and went more in-depth. I still give it a 9/10 but it do ruin the pacing of the story

Eh its flaws are what sucks about modern games in general, adding too many complicated mechanics and stuff, not making em simple like from the older era. Look at the old final fantasys up to 12.: simple good old classic style games. Now you look at rebirth while very enjoyable game but i hated having too many mini games and the confusing ending. Shouldev made it a simple easy to understand like in og. They didn’t let us explore the final place in the last chapter unfortunately. Its a solid 8.5 out of 10 for me

Put performance mode on a 1080p display, played the whole game in 1080p on my PS5 as well. I imagine playing it on a 4k display might not be optimal, but the whining about it has been so fucking stupid that I no longer sympathize. Also, I can see the difference between 144fps and 60fps. It's more about fluidity of motion, and framerates stability, than anything else.

Like I said a dozen times, FF16 was a final fantasy for adults with mature storytelling, amazing graphics and awesome gameplay. The only drawback was the overly long cutscenes but that served to increase the story narrative. Rebirth looked terrible and played like a kids game.

People can’t handle criticism I see. If everyone is pointing out something that sucks about the game, you can’t say it’s not a valid complaint. The minigames suck and should have stayed in the 90s where they purposely padded out games run time.

I don't know what he's talking about when he says people are telling him that the mini games from rebirth are accurate because they were in the original final fantasy VII from 1997, that is absolute nonsense. People be self sabotaging their experience by forcing themselves to get a platinum trophy for the sake of it. Do as much as you want and call it a day. I feel like if you forced yourself to do everything 100% then you enjoyed the game regardless of what you say. You sank 100 hours into a game you didn’t enjoy? That doesn’t make sense to me

Whoever told you all these minigames are accurate to the original are lying Sure, ft condor, the squat game, and the motorcycle are in the OG but you can blow thru them in a couple minutes. They’re also super easy to finish first try. The frog fallguys, costa del sol games, corel cactuar game, chocobo gliding, stealth chocobo catching, moogle catching, corel box breaking, queensblood and a lot more are NOT in the OG 8/10 still a great game but let’s not make excuses about the minigames

What do the mini games have to do with Marvel Multiverse nonsense? I'll answer, nothing at all. The multiverse nonsense is literally established in Rebirth by Sephiroth. He said it out loud, there is a multiverse. Look, OG FF7 had mini games, but it was never to the extent that Rebirth does it. Even Remake is not padded out with mini games the way Rebirth is. It is too much. Also let's look at how mini games were used in OG since people like to bring it up. The Dolphin in Junon was not a mini game, it was pressing a button a couple of times so you could climb to upper Junon. They just turned it into a full blown mini game in Rebirth. You have the Junon parade, ok I'll give you that one. All the mini games at the Gold Saucer were optional, except when you have to race Chocobos to escape the prison. Rebirth forces a mini game on you as soon as you arrive and there is no getting out of it. There was no chase on the buggy after the fight with Dyne, they just added that for padding. The date at the Gold Saucer, you did participate in a play but it was just selecting a couple of dialogue options. They added the QTE mini game in Rebirth. Mini games in OG FF7 only took place when it was appropriate and they served the story. Throwing boxes as Cait Sith in Shinra Manor does not serve the story. It adds nothing other than padding out the play time even more. Take it away and not only do you lose nothing, it actually improves the section. No actually, Rebirth was still disc one. We still have all of disc 2 and 3 to get through in part 3. Right about the regions being mazes, it is at its worst in Gongaga. That place is needlessly complicated to try and navigate. The overall design of Gongaga is horrendous. On top of the mini games having a stupid difficulty spike, they are just poorly designed. Like 3D Brawler where not only is it hard to tell how you are supposed to dodge but your opponent has advantages that you don't. They can fill their gauge faster than you, not to mention the super fast combos. Hard Mode, it is way too punishing where normal, non boss enemies can wipe your entire party in 2 seconds. King Zu may as well be a superboss with how it spams Swan Song. Hard Mode is trash. There is making the game more challenging, and then there is simply cheating.
