For your question at 52:04 I believe the reason for these sections is more to define boundaries between "level sections." I think it was the God of War designers that spoke about this, it was to ensure the party members that follow you aren't getting stuck and are brought along with you in each section. And making clear divisions between those also helps players understand how the world is connected so they don't get lost etc.
