He was talking about Tifa at the end. Remember she said something similar in the first trailer, about Cloud thinking she'd died and was an impostor. Obviously just Sephiroth exploiting Cloud's faked memories to try and sow division in the group.

I think at the beginning, when everyone is hurt or dead, is Zack's timeline. And the reason they are hurt or dead is because they also tried to challenge Destiny but because Cloud wasn't there because Zack is still dragging him around they lost.

Aerith has a new unique, triangle ability it seems. During the scene where she is combing with Tifa her triangle input is listed as "Ward Shift". And Red's is "Vengence Mode"

Remember the fire tornado hologram had only Tifa, Barret, and Cloud present during it. Yet the new scene with this critically members has Red XIII and Aerith. They also mention the highway expressway where it susposedly happened. Where they fought against Sephiroth and the Ghosts. The same ghosts that formed a giant swirling tornado. That was visible to other characters including Rufus. Meaning in the alternate timeline they lost to Sephiroth and the ghosts he absorbed.

I would expect Vincent to be a DLC character like Yuffie. They were both optional in the original, and Vincent is cool enough to get his own focused side-story.

Sephiroth spends like 90% of original VII either actively gaslighting or just being wrong about the things he says to Cloud, he's full of it.

The fire tornado part is also interesting because it happens in the shinra simulator. And every character questions what just happened and that it felt so real, but they never mention the tornado or sephiroth at all after the simulator

Good money says Yuffie yoinked Cloud’s materia when she clinged to him.

I've warmed up to alternate timelines and such over the years so this is exciting. Especially since this is a 10 year + project, having a shot for shot remake of the og probably is creatively limiting - especially when you have the some of the og team on it. I know Sakaguchi mentioned he'd rather be building something new so I wouldn't be surprised if Kitase and his other peers are similar and want to add some spice to the story. Who knows? I wouldn't be surprised if they are pulling shelved concepts from the og that got cut. But overall, this is exciting and looking at Remake, they didn't ruin the charm and story beats we all know and love - so I'm confident in the rest of the triology. And while we are at it - more Rufus pls...if we are fleshing people out - I wouldn't mind seeing the more of saleman of belts himself.

We are spending waaaaaaay more time with Aerith in the party.... it does feel like they're building up to something grand.

I'm so exited for this! Man the hard criticisms are also valid for remake but I don't care, this game was just so much fun and I never felt like it ruined my memory of playing the original. The effort and love put into this modern remake from the graphics to the MUSIC to keeping all character integrity is so fresh. I'm so sick of lazy remakes in film that pay no respect to it source material. I think Square has mostly tried to give us a new fun ride while preserving most of the OG games merit.

People should watch japanese trailer after english ones to clear whose talking and Sephiroth says Tifa yeah. Cloud gaslighting :D

You’re so funny! I absolutely love your videos, and the fact that you’re a huge FF fan. Rebirth looks gorgeous. I wanna see Vincent so bad too (and Cid!!!). I used Cloud, Cid, and Vincent in FFVII OG when I played that.

My feelings about the alternate timeline stuff are pretty much the same. I think it has the potential to either be amazing, or absolutely terrible. That said, I refuse to pass judgement until we actually know where it's going. In the meantime, I'm just enjoying the ride. There was so much to love about Remake, and Rebirth looks like it will be fantastic!

I know it wont happen- but it would be amazing if the two discs were two different story lines. 1 disc for a retelling of the original game and the 2nd disc for the new storyline with the whispers. Can't wait to play!!!

I always have you and Maximilian_Dood next to each other during these sort of events and it's always so fun to watch both of you flip out when FF7 or 16 stuff gets shown. Early 2024, that better be January or else I'm gonna flip!

This video does a great job highlighting what I love about the remake. Yeah I would have loved a 1:1 remake with updated graphics and gameplay but the fact that I am back to theorycrafting on a game that is nearing 30 years old? ITS AMAZING! I AM 100% ON BOARD!

So theres more timeline shenanigans with sector zero one and two apparently falling with tifa and aerith being carted off in an ambulance. We see bugenhagen which means cait sith is definitely going to appear in the game as a party member. And some of the gameplay is changed as we see aeriths triangle attack changed from tempest to ward shift. Cloud had new attacks in his heavy attack mode and they added combo attacks similar to yuffies dlc

Listen to the music at the beginning of the trailer. There's only one place in Remake where that music shows up. Might be hinting at the Tornado they're talking about.

Isn't the tornado meant to be the result of the Whispers in the kther timeline? Because they created a huge storm in Cloud and co.'s timeline. The reporter even mentions the expressway which is where the team was when they fought the whispers. My guess is that the timeline split when they fought the whispers: one timeline they beat them and in another timeline Cloud and co. were caught in a tornado.

I got home last night JUST IN TIME to fire up the stream - I’m so damn happy!

Gotta say, I was real happy to hear the Valkyrie arrangement in that trailer. Sure, Square Enix, promise me some more Keiki Kobayashi goodness. Threaten me with a grand time.

I dislike when people assume 1 person is responsible for all of the changes in games because game dev is a very anti-auteur process. Nomura as creative director does mean he's in charge of curating the best ideas and I'm not surprised he wanted to be closer to the original since his tastes are a massive thumbprint on the OG. I do think the idea of taking familiar scenes and mixing up the order will make for a very fresh experience though instead of being a glorified texture update like the majority of remakes. It actually lets the dev team look at flaws in the original that they can now fix and improve upon or make something new.

I think this pseudo-remake-actual-sequel-alternate-timelines is fine, but I hope, once they are done with it all and actually have the assets for the entire game… they just rebuilt the original experience in one big game somehow. An all-killer-no-filler version, also.

I honestly can't remember if they showed Red in the first game. But if they didn't, my guess is this is the same situation with Cid and Vincent. Like "it'll be better to meet them in-game" kind of deal. And I hope this is the case.

SPOILERS FOR OG FF7 / THEORIES FOR REBIRTH & R3!!! Ever since the ending of Remake, I have the theory that Zack's "timeline" is not a timeline, but him in the lifestream being prepared to counteract Seph/Jenova at the same time as our party goes through OG 7's plot. Aerith will eventually also end up in the lifestream (though maybe in a different way than in OG 7) and Zack and Aerith together will make the lifestream help Holy to fight Meteor, like in OG 7's ending cutscene. Super excited for the rest of the remakes, I hope they can stick the landing 🤩 Cheers and have a good day!

Theory for how Zach survives in his timeline, I think a few Soldier after witnessing most of the events of Crisis Core defect from Shrina and go to help Zach but he's gravely wounded. I predict that Zach will be playable in Rebirth in sections that sift to his timeline as he hears rumors of Sethroath''s activity, his version of Cloud will be in the party.

PS5 discs are 100GBs each. The PS4 ones where 50GB.

I feel like Seph's comments about Tifa dying could be misdirection, alternatively this could be Seph genuinely stunned that he's going up against someone he could have sworn he killed, like "what are you doing here... didn't I kill you already".

Am watching this as I type and I have soooo many plot-twists and theories some of which will have OG 7 spoilers sooooo processd with caution. LOL First, a detail I spotted; they have Tifa and Aerith riding the Chocobos side-saddle which I love! I mean, Aerith's skirt is long enough to still be *mostly* modest but *Tifa's*..... Not to mention I didn't readily see any saddles on those birds so riding astride would probably tickle in *very* immodest ways. Just sayin'. 🤨🤭 Another thing I noticed is at the beginning of the trailer they show everyone but *Cloud* being loaded up and it didn't look they any of them were breathing. Adds to the 'it's Zack's timeline' theory. Maybe to balance Zack surviving the "Whispers" took that timeline's Cloud? But on the other hand we didn't see *Zack* either.....🤷 Granted I haven't played the new Crisis Core nor have I seen anyone play it all the way through so I just may not have all the info yet.... Vincent: everyone's favorite emo bada$$. Plot-twist and sorta spoiler for those that don't know the OG 7.......... In the orginal visit to Nibelheim if you bother to poke around in the mansion basement you can get into the coffin room as Zack and open Vincent's coffin. Granted it'll just say he's sleeping and to leave him to it but the ability's there. *What if* in one of the timelines that scenario wakes Vincent up and he's been out wandering all this time?! Okay. Yo hot take. The first ten second of the trailer, that isn't something that happens at the start of rebirth but.........at the end? I have 3 theories about the first 10 seconds but this the one i find most interesting. Essentially SOMETHING happens to divert the story to where the group ends up having to go back to midgar just in time for some shenanigans to go on.

Also (so it's separate from my disc comment) few things going through my mind At the beginning, it COULD be Shinra propoganda to specifically show the dead bodies (could be fake bodies even?) to make a statement. Could also be an alternate timeline where Cloud was NOT part of the team (note his body is the only one not shown) At the end, Sephiroth is almost certainly just gaslighting Cloud into doubting Tifa.

I been looking forward to this game so much but the beginning of the trailer made me nervous.

I wouldn't be interested in a remake if it was exactly like the original 7, and I would expect future remake projects to take the same approach, it's the same reason I like the Last of Us tv show, it's still faithful to the original but it fleshes out certain concepts and characters, and builds on top of that to give us something new and exciting
