Someone on the staff obviously loves Terra, not only did she a new intro all to herself but Vaan has to share his bit with her as well.

The X part with fucking Tidus can make me tear up due to that combination of brass and string instruments. Its uplifting to the point where Tidus is even flying.

can you imagine how outnumbered the villains would be if Cosmos also brought all of the party members from each game? It would be less a fight and more like a curb stomping.

Alright, I know a lot of people are going to come after me for this comment but *SHUT UP* about Lightning supposedly stealing WoL's role in the storyline! She appears, along with the other new characters, *IN ONE CYCLE*! She does not have any more prominence in the rest of the storyline than the other new characters do, aside from helping to explain certain things that didn't make sense. Oh, but she's the leader of the new group and they are the focus you might say, well no shit! This game was heavily advertised to be about the new Warriors of Cosmos and while Lightning is the leader, you could say that Tifa, Yuna and Vaan are more important than her in the overall storyline. Namely in that they cause Cloud, Tidus, Jecht and Terra to change sides, setting up their arcs in the next cycle as well as explaining why they acted the way they did. Laguna also is the one who brings to their attention about where to go to stop the manikins, courtesy of Cloud of Darkness and of course, Kain is the one who starts up their plot by going after the other warriors of Cosmos so they don't get permanently offed by the manikins like they eventually do. Yes, Lightning is the one who decides to go after the manikin source, but it takes her, Laguna, Tifa, Yuna and Vaan to get there while Kain holds off Exdeath. And they still all die at the end and the ending cinematic is largely centered around Warrior of Light, the only survivor of this cycle, being sent into the next one with everyone else except Lightning's group. At most Lightning's group are decoy protagonists, taking down a major threat while WoL's group bring down the real big bad of the games. Oh wait, spoilers, but you know what, if anyone had actually played the game instead of just watching the opening and trailers or staring at the purty box art like nimrods they would know this crap. And no, you can't discount the 13th Cycle storyline, because it's still part of the game and fixes many of the problems of the original Dissida, both storyline and gameplay. But, since Lightning (and if you actually paid attention, the rest of the new characters) are on the center of the Warrior of Cosmos' part of the cover, it's gone and turned into "Lightning is on the cover! SHE MUST HAVE STOLEN WARRIOR OF LIGHT'S ROLE!" Get your heads out of your asses.

It's definitely a lot of fun. It's also cool that we can control these characters completely. There is an option to use a combat menu system, for those too familiar with the turn-based combat. There is a lot of gear to be earned, a lot of skills to be learnt, and a lot of things to master, but was definitely worth it. Just watch some gameplay videos. Or download the demo/Prologue. (The Prologue does cost, but it unlocks stuff otherwise un-obtainable in the game)

It's a Tetsuya Nioura thing actually. He did it on purpose starting with VII where he first became a major force in the scope of the series and in the company in general. He even extended it to Kingdom Hearts with Sora, Riku and Kairi which is sky, land and sea when translated.

They did. There are 2 storylines in the game, the 12th cycle about Lighning and the new characters and the 13th Cycle that is a revamped version of the original Dissidia game.

@Ghosst182 But I'll have to admit, the best scenes are the new ones, Tifa fighting Sephiroth, Leguna shooting at Ultimecia, Cecil being assisted by Kain Highwind, Vaan running, and Lighting fighting Garland. All I know is the FF X intro scene between Tidus and Jecht is the best part of the opening! Awesome score to fit a rather cool scene.
