A collection of FF9's FMV cutscenes, recorded from the recently released Steam version. It comes in the outdated aspect ratio of 4:3 (unless you stretch it of course)...But damn, this still looks beautiful in higher resolutions!

@@TheMadZocker I've always liked him a great deal. I think some people dislike him because he antagonized a likable protagonist for a while, and occasionally in an unjustified manner (though not most of the times, since his duty *was* to protect the princess). At first, he also wouldn't see the vices of Queen Brahne. His character growth is awesome, though. From a high maintenance jerk to a loyal friend and comrade.

This is just great honestly, I remember playing this and getting so excited when a new cut scene started, this was one of the best games in FF history in my opinion. Really lived up to the name of the game and just made you so invested in the characters and story. You didn’t play this game just to beat it like games now, you played it because you were living in that world when you played it. Amazing and all without a single word in the scenes

Have to sadly agree with Honey Badger up there, I was delightedly surprised to find out where all the Medieval Fantasy influence hadn't simply ceased altogether. But damn if I'm not a little salty FF7/10 ended up being the blueprint for the main series and not this one. Nine is in its own league. The characters are so well designed and varied and the world truly feels 'fantastic' not just 'reality with fantasy elements' FF14 is free to play up to level 35 now I'd recommend it if you love Nine. Ol' Nobuo Uematsu is the composer of that games soundtrack as well if you need a stamp of quality. The voice acting is the only...lacking element of the game I'd say. So feel free to play the audio in Japanese with subtitles...

To this day this is my favourite FF of all time. The story is amazing... When you think you are finally understanding the game, bam! You are thrown something that blows your mind. Another thing that I love about this game is that literally every character matters and has it's impact on the overall story. I mean, you get to play with pretty much every group of characters very early in the story; the time events just made this really enjoyable since you got to experience the story from pretty much every angle. Also, the way characters develop relationships with one another is great, and how they evolved and grow gives you a strange sense of satisfaction. It is also amazing that every character found its closure and made peace with their past, present and moved on to their future. By the time you know you are heading to the final battle, you just don't want to end the game. Only FF that brings tears to my eyes everytime. The music and the scenarios, along with the way the characters are designed makes this a jewel.

I agree with you on most area's. the art style is fine and even holds up today just it could use some cleaning up. the music, and graphics are also fine and are on pare with some modern games in area's. in fact most of the game is acceptable by today slandered in most area's only needing some clean up to make it more visualy stunning which we all know they could do. heck nowerday's making high quality cg moves and shorts while time consuming is a simple matter nowadays. take a look at Warcraft cinematic's or overwatch shorts. or even the ff 7 movie or the ff 15 movie. now love it or you hate aside you can't deny honestly its got a lot of good visuals stuff they could use to make the visuals, music and extra better. and not even better just more polished. the only real thing that need major over hauling in my opinion which is completely fine with me if you disagree. but I think the only thing that needs major changing is just the over world. and mostly just the big area's there the camera is all wonky. I mean I have played this game and one of the biggest head aches for me when I tried my hand at it was figuring out what was scenery and what was something that was there to interact with. now I am not hating on the game as they did the best they could for the times. but if I am to be honest if this game got remade from scratch save for the art direction witch only relay needs a touch up job as they say in make up and the music just needing to be made with real interments this time. I would love to see this game with more 3d and over the should camera angles or at the vart least make the environments more fluid and feel less clunky. as if the original game felt less clunk it would be probably my favorite in terms of game play visuals and story. though to be fair you can only realy get on the case of a few ff games for there story at least in the cases of the ones before 10 in my opinion mostly do to the fact that I know presus little about the ones after. but that just becase I was late to the ff part and have not gotten around to playing them. but I would dream of having a remake of this game with bigger area's to explore more stuff to find and more story and cutsceans to enjoy and pleasedon't hate me. but I would like to at least get a sample sheet of voice acting. as if done right it can be amazing. but that's all I got and again its just my opinion and everyone entitled to there own.

@Vanth0ny5 жыл бұрын
That's because a lot of games nowadays are like 60% cut scenes and 40% gameplay. When cut scenes happened in games like Final Fantasy 7/8/9, it felt special because they only happened every once in awhile, so they felt special and important to the story.
@draculathevampire9345 жыл бұрын
The theme of the game is classic black and white silent films older generations believe that films are better when theirs no voice and it's just music, gives off a more emotional impact as u you can see in the cutscenes, characters portray emotions heavier than when you have them speak
@Kylesaystuff5 жыл бұрын
Anthony J. Well have to said that FF series always have a dramatic cut scene and perfect CG. Even most of the people don’t like FFXV, but the cg cutscene and music of XV still keeps the perfection of the game.
@beyer_the_burger5 жыл бұрын
For me they were. People put more fantasy into their games back then and made cut scenes to be special part of the story while now games are like watching a movie. No fantasy at all because people try to make them more realistic. 4K graphics just make games more like simulations while games that have a great story don't need that. People have to realise that making games using a lot of fantasy will make them better(this depends of course). For example final fantasy has many different unique stories and timelines. And Mario and Luigi also have unique gameplay and thats why they are considered as one of the best RPGs. Cutscenes usually controlled the feelings of the player. That's what I believe at least.

If you compare FF9 with other Play Station games, you must say it at least had a story unlike other games. And it's a long, better created story, not that other garbage we had to endure. And it's not the worst story I've seen, the story of Star Wars Episode 2 is worse in any direction you look at it. So I'd rather call the story of FF9 a soap opera with some bright moments. It's just a wonderful game, everyone likes it, it's even more fun to replay this game than FF7. The graphics were just awesome, they hid so many secrets alongside the game, it doesn't have any glitches, they thought about everything, the music was great most of the time, and it's always again fun playing it. I wish they made games like this today! - I wouldn't recommend watching the story too close, however. The story itself even made a fool of itself when Kuja destroyed Terra, meaning everything we saw was actually a waste, which is why it totally became crazy at the end. The game was actually like FF7 about the Gaia-hypothesis, but it was Gaia against Terra. In this game, however, the story made itself useless because Kuja just destroyed Terra, meaning now it's something else and this real story came to no conclusion and was just nonsense. So just enjoy the game and don't look too direct at it, it could lower the fun to play it, actually.

10:45 I find it strange that Vivi never developed an intense fear of flying after this

Used to love the PS1 era Final Fantasy games especially 7 and 9. You knew you'd be getting a game you could spend 100 hours in and get a great story as well as great characters. After FFX the Final Fantasy games went downhill although the 7 remake was very good. Now they just try and squeeze money out of it. Final Fantasy XV was a perfect example. They expected you to buy a movie and then the downloadable content to understand the story. They need to go back to the PS1 era formula: you start off facing a bad guy or corporation but in reality there is a bigger threat; a bit like Thanos in the Marvel films. Over 50 hours you go on a big quest and learn about the characters and a love story usually happens.

I like how none of the cutscenes have ANY voice acting, yet they managed to tell a fantastic story just showing these "movie scenes" with some music and ambient sounds at the background.

I was wondering why Disc 1 took up an entire third of the movie and then I realized not much video content really happens in Disc 4 in terms of FMV! They bust into Memoria, and then the next scene is the ending. What a wild ride though! I absolutely love this game ❤

I got the game when it first came out on disc and couldnt get into it but now I have it on my switch and play it non stop...just as addicting as when I played ff7...TRUE ART this game is..the story line is unbelievable the graphics on the switch lite are TOP NOTCH for this older game...battle speed is a tad slow but doesent bother me to much ...Vivis story is amazing yet heartbreaking as he is such a cute charachter and so innocent...steiner you want to slap...a game before its time
