Isn't it funny how time works in regards to media? I remember Roger Ebert saying that Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura was the crappiest, stupidist thing he ever saw in film. Turns out he was pretty wrong, and absolutely everyone thought Jim was unlike any other comedian, and absolutely hilarious. This game was completely ignored (and like Ace Venture, totally panned by people who DID play the game) by the masses because FF7 was still being discovered by players of all ages at the time of this game's release, as well as the fact that the PS2 was already out, FFIX was just totally overshadowed by these two titans... And yet time works wonders on media, including video games. This game is now discussed and loved more than FF7 here on KZfaq. The story... The characters... Vivi... Uematsu's OST... Sakaguchi's desire to go back to FF's roots while also providing a story that is philosophical and grim. Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time (and everyone else's), but this game is special and unique. I heard Gene Simmons talk about Eddie Van Halen after he died, and he said, "Jimmy Hendrix was 1A, and certainly, Eddie Van Halen was 1B". This same idea applies to Chrono Trigger and FFIX. Let us all pray that the rumors are true and that this game is actually being remade.
