Meliadoul is such a beast and never gets mentioned

I didn't realize that Balthier can't equip mantles as a Sky Pirate until last week when I tried to put one on him. (Playing The Lion War Mod) I almost lost him in a battle because I had 99-1 Bard'd him, then went 1-99 Sky Pirate and had his spd at 50 with Haste, Ramza (Calculator with Guts mostly so that Balthier could get many more turns for leveling) had 24 with haste and I made the hilarious mistake of placing him at the cliff in Mlapan and a black mage dashed him off. If not for having protect on, he would've crystalized for sure! o__o; Meliadoul was a surprise 5th for sure. :) She did get the ability to damage monsters with her skills in WoTL so it helps her out a lot. Solid line up for sure.

That team is pretty OP, 84 Faith Beowulf alone…but on WoTL with Balth and Melia being able to hit monsters is def a game changer.

Great squad composition! I appreciate the addition of Meliadoul for breaking equipment, as adding Agrias + Orlandeau is a little redundant. I would use Orlandeau for damage and Meliadoul for breaking equipment, though she suffers against Safeguard. I am a fan of support characters so seeing Ramza in that role is refreshing. I do have to ask: does Darkness not benefit from low Faith? If so, it would seem to contradict the high-Faith build for Beowulf you have suggested, and am curious as to your reasoning. 🤔 Otherwise, I think Beowulf is a great utility character with high value in Midlight Deeps as you mentioned.

I’d say my final team is very similar, but I personally like Agrias’s moveset over Meliadoul’s, so I use her instead. I try to squeeze Cloud in because of no other reason other than “it’s Cloud” 🤣

I remember reading, think it was in the strategy guide, that Luso had a 1-up on Ramza since they both have the same potential skill set but Luso has an additional ability that allows him to gather materials from defeated monsters due to his Game Hunter class. …or something like that. It’s been years since I’ve looked through the guide and I never actually played the game as I never owned a PSP. Was curious on your thoughts on that note.

I have Ramza dual handed, with teleport, and arithmetics as second skills! Mustadio was my favorite in the original, but easily got overshadowed by Balthier.

I have Ramza/Beowulf/Agrias/Reis. Last member was a black mage that was one of my best units, didn't have the heart to replace her xD

Always was keen to monks with the ninja double strike. They can take on even high HP enemies.

That was literally my party, though I’m sure Maoist people would say that. I always had random squires in slot 2 3 4 and 5 and when one of these guys were going to join, I’d boot the random to allow this team, with Ramza to be my 1-5 slots

My team had max bravery and 94 faith as follows: 1) Ramza as a Dark Knight + Summoner 2) Agrias as Holy Knight + White Mage 3) Cid as Sword Saint + Black Mage 4) Beowulf as Temple Knight+ Oracle 5) Cloud as Soldier + Time Mage I just thought it looked cool that each knight had a specialized magic side to them even tho I really only used their sword techniques.

I would of put Agrias over Mel or even Reis. Stat growth isnt much of a factor since with some work, all characters can be maxed, I value skills more so than growth/stats and Mel's lack of AOE puts her behind Agrias/Reis for me. Though I suppose if you get Darkness, she has abyssal blade/sacrifice or iaido but those just arent on par with some of the holy sword skills. If all characters hit 999, that stops being a factor, same with Cid. The fact he isnt able to use ribbons/perfumes in FFT puts him equal or on-par with some other female characters as well. Its always fun to see your OP Cid suddenly get charmed or diabled or whatever else(looking at you rendevous lol)

The Thunder God himself is too OP of a character. ^^

Since I didn't play the War of the Lions variant, my team was always Ramza, Orlandau, Worker 8, Meliadol and Reis in storyline battles because you're always fighting humans in storyline battles and in hell Reis could tame the dragons you meet there.

After playing this game thru multiple times all the way from the original I came here with doubts based off the title, but then you nailed it😎 good job

Knight/chemist, damagesplit, shortcharge, tp2, spam holy sword skills after teleporting to your target, chemist for PD that are for revives and insta killing undead. Could switch a couple of them for timemage and get haste.

For the main battles we just need Orlandeau 🤣🤣 too OP char...

In before someone says Calculator Holy. Even though Calculators base aren't that good. Their abilities are suited better on other jobs as you have said in the past.

female special charcters are the bomb in the psp version because of the tynar rouge. They can equip chaos blade but still have haste,protect, and shell. Also, female characters have access to ribbons. Combine these with 97 brave / 3 Faith with shihadori setup and they are gods.

Tactics was an odd game difficulty wise. The difficulty curve was in reverse. I guess that's why there's a hardtype mod for this game.

For my final party, I swap Orlandu for Cloud and Meliadoul for Reis. Cid is just too good and with work Cloud as my Soldier with Summons is strong and thematic. Reis has better growth and is the most unique of the females.

5 female dark knights with chantage are pretty hard to kill. I poached a lot of pigs to make it happen.

The game is busted with one build. You can wipe out the map with one generic person. Male yet female preferred. I take one of each to be safe. Mine is based off the original version that can transfer to newer ones. Abilities. Battle Skill. Math Skill. Blade Grasp. Maintenance. Teleport. Male equipment. Excalibur. Aegis Sheild. Crystal Helmet. Reflect Mail. Feather Mantle. Female (busted) equipment. Excalibur. Aegis Sheild. Ribbon. Reflect Mail. Chantage. You can even give the women another ability besides Math Skill. They will not die even if Charge is the other ability with max number in battle. 😊

I can see why they gave females accessories in this game. The men have much stronger attacks and the women need something to compensate for this.

honestly in most runs by the time I have a maxed out team with great gear, Orlandeau feels slow frankly.
