If only the looked like in your thumbnail. I love Black Magic in FFT, amd the Black Mage class overall is superb status wise. But that Vivi look has never been of my liking, especially for the female ones. Technically that's my same build, Black Magic, Summon, Swiftness, with the difference I use the Summoner job just for looks 😂.

Back in the day, before we had Mr Folles strategies, I always leveled Ramza as a black mage and would learn ice 3 for the 1 shot. This was obviously before I knew about zodiac compatibility abuse lol. I used to think “he must be weak to ice." In chapter 1 it always felt like ice 2 would 1 shot him as well. Because of this, black mage holds a special place in my heart lol. Great video as always!

One of my favorite jobs for any character. Definitely agree about not using math skills as it does make the game extremely easy. One of my favorite party mix to use is 2 Time Mages and 3 Black Mages. Cast Immobilize and Stop with the Time Mages then nuke everything with Flare or Meteor.

Ohhh you forgot just 1 more thing which is GREAT for Black Mages! Magic Guns! With Equip Gun and I think their MA and Faith boosted so much, I could be wrong but I think the magic guns will also start to see ridiculous damage numbers. Otherwise, awesome video, I never really use mages but if I do, of course they're gonna be Black Mages!

I really enjoy calling down Meteor with black mage and having time mage skills like stop slow haste etc. that can be really useful for slowing down one time battles to go grab items or steal equipment or just haste at the beginning of a battle because I can't get close enough to get a cast off turn 1. Meteor is harder to use than smn abilities but it is so satisfying when it lands and oneshots basically everything in its aoe.

My favorite black mage combo is to give them Swiftness and the Faith Rod, then give them either Oracle or Time Mage spells.

Fun fact, naming your BM "Vivi" automatically makes them the best mage in the game no questions asked.

Equip swords + Runeblade give you a +2 MA (as opposed to +4 with the Crown Scepter, but on par with +2 from Wizard Rod), and gives you a little more offensive capabilities without relying on gravity proc %. Granted you are giving up an ability slot just for this sword, but keep Runeblade in mind for Knights who can pair it with Draw Out and Magic Attack Up to make a draw out build that is sturdier than the black mage.

Since I don't play FFT that much , I was wondering when square soft gonna rework FFT or rework the main characters models in it's normal format or Render ware . Since most of your thumbnails have that well drawn updated concept designs . Hoping if Modders can reworked each characters & job classes and or others such as monsters, skill displays, add a few bonus features like cutscenes while traveling in-between locations & from a few side quests (as normal engagements) to bounty hunt instead of the inn errands to discover hidden locations and so on , if I can recall it's the undiscovered lands after each days progression. Side note , those concept arts and artifacts have me very curious and pulsize of visulizing other Final Fantasy's open world to how great the visuals environments are... Sorry if I went off topic to your class build.

Hey Jase, I must have missed this video. Of the four mages: Black Mage, White Mage, Time Mage, and Summoner, would you say Black Mages are the best? White Mages are too faith reliant, Time Mages lack enough useful abilities, and Summoners are too slow? Just curious.

Fun fact: You can teach -ja magicks to other black mage or white mage free of charge by hitting them with that -ja magicks!

I wish the wizards/mages had human faces 😄

The worst part about math skill is doing it manually, instead of just using AI. Its so tedious.
