Amazing showcase for the randomizer! Seed was very challenging and interesting. So glad SGDQ had our young but rapidly growing community in the marathon and it was so great meeting everyone from the community in person! I hope to continue seeing more randomizers on GDQ! Thank you GDQ staff, the FF6WC community, and to all the donators! You rock!

We thought about it. The issue is that it would have to guarantee that we have a blitz user, and guaranteeing an ability ahead of time isn't a good showcase for a randomizer 😔

Randomizing the La'Croix, was what got me. Also, imagine finding a patched, randomized cartridge like this back as a child, and not being able to relate to anyone's FF6 experience. hahaha

Oh heck.... "Say-Bin", "Suh-bin"............. am I the only one that said "Sa-Bin"? Sa (as in satellite) and Bin (as in bin, a storage device)

The Paladin shield teaches Ultima in the base game IIRC. I wonder if it still taches it in this version.

It is an option you can select...in this seed Ultima is off so you can't learn the spell.

It does, but you can also disable it from doing so. Lot of customizable options in Worlds Collide!

It does but ultima is excluded in most seeds.

There is a flag to enable that, but with this run Ultima is turned off in general. It would make the run pretty 1 dimensional

I wish the randomizer was based on T edition FF6. The magic and item system is much more balanced.

can they see each others screens and hear the commentary? or are they blind to each others progress?

They run the seed blind and don't know where the other runners are.

We are mostly blind and deaf. I could see the screen if I looked over but I tried my best not to do that. For audio, I had noise cancelling headphones but I could still hear commentators/music when I had a lull in music (for example, I could hear that Drew was in the final dungeon while I was finishing up checks because my in game audio went low during a scene and I could hear the final dungeon music over the speakers)

We could not hear commentary, and we had to try our best not to screen cheat since we were all on the same stage, so it was a blind run of the seed without any outside information. I trust we all followed the rules!

I see something like this and I wonder why the actual devs aren't creating cool remix stuff like this. I am not sure how much dev time it would take and how many people would play something like that, but it is a feature on the back of the box that would at least build lots of good will

Silly question; does this (Or any other) FF6 randomizer allow you to go through the story as normal and just randomize characters, espers, monsters and such? All the ones I found seem to start you on your airship and are open world from the start. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

So Worlds Collide is designed to be open world and therefore isn't really linear. There is another mod, Beyond Chaos, that does something closer to what you want. The downside is that it isn't nearly as speedrunning focused, but it does give a good take on a linear FF6 experience

So the skip can be unlocked by getting either 12 espers or 9 characters (9 characters is what DT did here). Basically if you get three extras of one requirement you can skip part of the tower. It's meant as a comeback mechanic.

i didnt get to take a look at the flag set but when you are setting up a new game there are requirements for entering kefka tower and under that you can set up a different requirement to skip most of the tower and just go to the statues so this is 6 characters 9 espers to get into KT its probably 7 characters 10 espers to activate skip

i'm saddened. mentioning magi master and being terrifying, i was expecting him to keep his final attack, but it's just wall changes? also, is the 'seto kiaba' a mistake?

1. Magimaster's final Ultima is disabled (it is a toggable flag) because otherwise that boss can just be an unbeatable wall 😔 2. I made this account on GameFAQs when I was 14 and didn't think to Google the right spelling of "Seto Kaiba" lol

Magimaster doesn't cast Ultima upon death? How sad...

Ultima for Magimaster can be toggled on or off, depending on the flags. For racing it is turned "off" since it could just wall a party, as very few things can deal with his Ultima

They really oughta done this with fewer runners, imo. I've played FF6 but there is no friggin way that I can follow what's going on when the commentators are talking about four different runners doing different routes.

Hm. I'm not really a fan of this format. With the four players all taking different paths and the commentators discussing stuff too, there are about five things to follow at the same time. 🤔
