Hey guys! It's time for some more Final Fantasy VII jams! This track was an absolute joy to remake as metal. My girlfriend Anna is a HUGE Final Fantasy VII fan and she immediately requested that I jam this track when she won my Patreon raffle.
The theme works so well in that format due to the guitar riff style synths of the original. The leads are also amazingly fun to play. As I was recording the leads, I legitimately thought that some of the parts were going to be impossible for me to play properly. But after sitting there for hours and hours trying to nail each part as best as I could, they ended up becoming pretty simple and extremely enjoyable. I think I might have leveled up my lead playing significantly with this track!
I made it a point to not mess with the original arrangement too much for this track. The excitement of the original lies within the symbiosis between the percussion and the rhythm synths and I wanted to preserve that energy. That being said, I couldn't resist throwing in a solo over the main riff because it's just so fun to jam over.
I hope you guys enjoy this cover as much as I enjoyed making it!
The original "Still More Fighting" theme from the game "Final Fantasy VII" was composed by Nobuo Uematsu and Minoru Akao

You completely 100% understand what makes the original such a good song. This is like you took the best parts of the original, distilled it into its purest form, and then made a concentrated wall of sheer guitar perfection.

@@Greenman422 The added parts are there to give it more of that "metal" feeling, as the name suggests it's a metal cover and most of the metal musicians that create these covers embellish to make it fit more into that genre, if you want faithful then you want to be listening to the orchestral versions created by the origional composer, even then though i think you will find alterations due to the songs in the game being simplified versions of what the composer actually wanted due to the technology limitations at that time.

Kinda disagree. Pretty much everything is on point, but the bass/drum groove from the original version is pretty much gone. Guitar is flawless though, cant argue about that part. And the cover is exactly this : a guitar cover. The balance of the original is changed to be tilted toward the guitar part. Some things are gained, but some things are lost in the process, its inevitable.

I've seen this countless times before but have never taken the time to comment, although I'm sure you're aware that is the easily best cover of its kind on the tube. You focused on the most enjoyable elements of the song and elaborated on them enough to where it never gets boring, but never to the point where the spirit of the original is lost. Hard not to think of Eric Johnson (Cliffs of Dover specifically), likely due to your grasp of musical theory and the cleanliness of your execution. Imo, it's a crime that you're not a household name.

I really love how the rhythm riff at 1:14 is reminiscent to me of that classic opening battle theme riff you hear in the earlier games (and ff9 for a more recent example), it's like the old riff's cadence but it's evolved to fit this newer battle theme, which is a concept you see actualized in a lot of FF7's ost. Really cool!

I hope they can change that between now and its release Edit: It looks like they are going to be using multiple versions of "Those Who Fight," so I'm hoping they'll make a metal version of "Those Who fight Further" which resembles the original track more closely.

I can appreciate you ending the video with that guitar riff rather than just that other basic stuff. When i listen to this as a part of my playlist, it helps to ignore the fact that there is this dialogue between songs.
