Two discs says nothing really. First part was on two discs too. This is more of a nostalgia strategy than anything else really. Though I do not doubt that this game will at least be 100+ GB at launch, lol. Maybe even crossing 150 GB.

Best part of the trailer is that last line. Jenova has always been a clear reference to John Carpenter's the Thing, but now they're really going to lean into that "cant trust anyone" factor from that film. Sephiroth is clearly tempting Cloud to believe Tifa died and the woman with the team is secretly Jenova.

there is also what we see in the first 20 seconds barret, tifa, red 13, and aerith are being taken by shinra, not sure if they are even alive, but no cloud, if they are there, who is with cloud? of course there is also the posibility of split timeline or other stuff but we should not discard those first 20 seconds

@Night647 from the way at least Tifa looked, at least to me, I'd say she was dead. Her arm moved in a way that somebody who's unconscious doesn't. When you're unconscious your body mostly stays in the way it is when it happened since your body keeps itself that way. Her arm moving like it did indicated to me that she was just straight up dead

@@Cricket0021 Its difficult to say. It feels like part 1 of a story in the same way God of War (2018) was part 1 of a 2 part story. So it feels like a complete experience. You will be glad by the end that they made it 3 parts; because part 1 is the story of Midgar. It feels like Midgar is telling you its story. By the end you feel like you have a relationship with Midgar that you never had in the original. It feels like a complete game and I feel that if you won't be dissapointed if you play it.

I can only imagine how overwhelmingly well the marketing or development team was taking that piece to push it for this trailer, considering it's not a remake of any OG piece from what I recall. That said, it IS made by Keiki Kobayashi of Ace Combat fame. I also liked it the most of all the fighting themes.

2:30 Did you notice that compass? That green one says "11016m", which means little bit over 11 kilometers. This map will be so huge and I'm sure that the distances between the towns can be even much bigger. This game is on two discs, so there will be a lot to explore.

I'm gonna take that with a grain of salt because a lot of big open world games compress distances. Even in FF15 it would say like "12 miles" but you'd get there in 60 seconds by car lol And similarly you can just run leisurely that distance in like ten minutes.

However there's no disputing that the sacrifice for claims of "big open world" means the not so fun length of traveling, at least on foot. But also it's just not practical for the storage size of the game and loading speeds.

my only concern is, if this a bigger map ala ff15, it would be harder to make world felt alive outside of town and such. it would need heavy lifting from the main cast to fill the empty space with their interactions and such

This looks incredible!! I was 15 years old when the original FFVII came out. Playing Remake brought back all the memories and emotions l had playing it as a teenager. I have replayed the original game many times over the years but leaving Midgar behind and setting out for the first time to explore the massive world of Gaia will forever be etched in my memory. I can't wait to experience it again and for new fans to get the chance to as well!

@@MattB_138 That's true. I think adulthood and its many responsibilities cause all of us to be a little jaded. Yet even now, Final Fantasy and all its incarnations bring me endless joy and make me weep like a toddler. Calling Remake a "love letter" to the fans is the perfect description. FFXIV is also a masterpiece, in my opinion. If you have not played it, I can not recommend it enough.

In the original game, Sephiroth was this unknown entity that early on was only mentioned in hushed tones and quickly forgotten. That was until he killed President Shinra and we learned Cloud's past. From then on, we are chasing him. I would say this is a different take, but I enjoy it all the same. Besides, you can't exactly hide one of the most iconic villains in gaming history.

If you pause at 0:03 you can see the tornado that the party encountered before the Whisper boss fight. This kind of also confirms the two timeline situation where in Zack's timeline the party went out on the same FF7 adventure but without Cloud and got either heavily injured or k!lled by the tornado during the Singularity event.

@@justadude7598 Hm.....I think it would make more sense if they are dead and Shinra is just there to get the bodies to the Shinra HQ. But it's also possible that they experiment on them (probably what they are also doing to Sonon), making them boss fights or something like that in Zack's timeline

It kinda makes sense with the whole "plot ghosts" thing too. In FF7R, the plot ghosts are there to prevent the players from changing anything about the original plot of the game. But at the end of the game, the player defeats them, and in doing so a completely new, alternate timeline is created. The player defeats the thing that was stopping the plot from diverging from its original form. The ending of Crisis Core was a hugely emotional moment for FF7 fans, and I think if there was one alternative that players always wondered, it would be "what if Zack survived?", even more so than the same question for Aerith. So in defeating the entities that were preventing any changes to the plot, the FF7 fans get to see that alternative play out for real now, as a separate timeline that doesn't need to interfere with the sanctity of the original. I was a bit skeptical as to how they'd use the plot ghosts and what the ending of FF7R really meant, but if this is the way they're going with it, I think it's brilliant. The only wish I have is please don't change Aerith's death in the main timeline. It's such an important plot point, as well as a major character development moment for Cloud.

Sephiroth/Jenova is gaslighting Cloud into thinking Tifa died and that the Tifa with him is an imposter. Remember: Cloud’s memories are all f*cked up. It makes perfect sense that he can’t fully remember what really happened in Nibelheim, and Sephiroth is taking full advantage of that. He knows Cloud is in a mentally precarious position.

Nah, he was much scarier in the original because he didn't appear every 5 seconds. We only saw his feats and heard about how scary he is without seeing him. So all of his actions looked way beyond anything the party could do, that's what made him so scary. He just sucks in this one.

I see a lot of comments suggesting Sephiroth was talking about Aerith because of the English trailer. Just want to kindly point out that Sephiroth literally says Tifa's name when he mentions killing "her" in the Japanese and French. That's why the last part of the trailer is showing Tifa seemingly dying lol. Amazed at how many people are claiming he was talking about Aerith.

Northern Cave would make a logical ending point for part 2 from a narrative perspective. Ending scene with all the party members looking at the sky and seeing Meteor for the first time. Most of disk 2 of the original was filler (fun filler, but filler nonetheless), and disk 3 was just side quests and final dungeon. That could all be fit into part 3 and wrap it up all nice and tidy.

I was a junior in HS when the original came out. Watching everything unfold and presented the way it was really did something to me. I play Remake slowly and walk around every little bit of the map, looking at the decor, pictures, furniture, etc., because now I'm really there with the characters. Shed more than a tear or two already. Plan on several more.

The end ties to the first trailer and is Sephiroth going for Cloud and Tifa's bond in order to break him so Cloud becomes his puppet. Because Tifa is Cloud's anchor and Sephiroth knows. It's very easy and straightforward to puzzle together. Planet's main heroine: Aerith. Hero's main heroine: Tifa. Double heroines. If Tifa had no importance at all and everything could be attributed to Aerith, Tifa wouldn't exist in the first place. Aerith's role focuses on saving the planet, not Cloud. That's Tifa's role focus. And has been since '97. When Cloud fell into the Lifestream, the one there was Tifa and not Aerith, even though narratively speaking Aerith could've easily made sense since one could say Lifestream is her turf. There's a point the writers wanted to make with that. Anyway, why do people always try to make things about Aerith and diminish Tifa's role when is Tifa the one getting the spotlight. The opposite doesn't happen nearly as much. Imo, Aerith's role is more glorious than Tifa's, which is more mundane, so why the need to trample on Tifa's and wanting Aerith to have/hoard it all Edit to say: I hyperfocused on LS, because that's peak proof of Tifa and Cloud's bond, but I forgot to add that already in OG, Cloud's breakdown happens when Sephiroth gaslights both of them so Cloud thinks Tifa's lost faith/trust in him. That's what Sephiroth's after and what we see in the trailer (this time him being even more manipulative). As I said, the trailer's ending is straightforward and easy to put together if you revert back to OG

Tifa's whole role is to be Cloud's heroine, the heroine of his story and internal conflict, if you try to steal it away and attribute it to Aerith as well, then we won't even have double heroines anymore (which is something certain shippers REALLY hope for lol). Those who have played OG should be familiar with Sephiroth's manipulation tactics and should know how much he tried to break the bond and trust between Cloud and Tifa because he knows she's his anchor. They should know that the only reason he managed to break him was not a certain death, but only by breaking Tifa first.

SEPHIROTH IS NOT TALKING ABOUT AERITH, HE IS TALKING ABOUT TIFA. He is trying to make Cloud believe he killed Tifa in Nibelheim's incident. Cloud himself says he thought she was a goner. Sephiroth wants to shatter Cloud's psyche. In order to do that, he wants Cloud to believe Tifa is an imposter. Because, aside from his ailing mental health and that he cherishes everyone, Tifa is probably Cloud's weakest spot

YOOOOOOO! OMG I'm so hyped. FF7 was always my favorite game of all time. I first started playing it when I was 7 years old back in 97 and I've beaten it probably 20 times at this point. It was the first video game I ever played that told a deep story and it was the first video game that showed me that games can be an art form instead of just fun timekillers. It's so amazing getting to spend time again with these characters I loved so much growing up. I never would have imagined as a little kid that one day I would get to re-experience the story in lifelike detail. It would have completely blown my mind. My inner child thanks you Square Enix. 😄

Man I'm excited for this, the expansiveness of the outer world looks excellent, I really enjoyed the gameplay from the first one and it looks like a lot of the original areas and events are still intact. Really hoping this game is a hit and will truly help begin a new era of all of our favourite FFs from the 90s/early 2000s getting remade while the CBU3 team takes over the reigns for the new instalments :)

I could see him not being payable in this game - give him a solo mission as DLC like Youffie got and add him into the third game (possibly along with Cid). We already getting Red XIII (now playable), Youffie (as a party member) & Cait Sith (completely new) in this game. 4 Characters in Remake 3 in Rebirth 2 in the third game Feels kind of right - and there's a good chance Zack becomes playable at some point too, although not sure it will be as part of the main party, might just be him playable in his own parallel storyline.

I agree on both points, and I think I suspect I know why they've made a new rearrangement of it and put it in this early trailer. It will likely play when you fight the upgraded Valkyrie weapon we saw in Yuffie's story, and since Kobayashi is an outside composer, the track for that fight was likely one of the first they composed for Rebirth.

Not me. They should use music from the original. The remake has horrible music but at least they're is a mod to fix that issue and give you the real soundtrack the game and true fans deserved. Part 2 will probably have more new bad music instead of songs from the original game again which is a really bad move on their part. Nothing can beat the original soundtrack.

@Terry from the vault Original soundtrack was truly amazing but Remake had a great score. A ton of it WAS remastered music from FF7 and most of the new stuff was really enjoyable. It also implies the biggest spoiler in the game. *Hint, think JENOVA and think North Crater... if you know, you know....

@kingseiryu929 not likely, but the Directors have noted that Rebirth is not a replica remake, meaning the possibility slightly changing outcomes is possible. Meaning Aerith might not die in this version. But it's not likely.

3:12 I wonder if Sephiroth will plan to turn Cloud against Tifa, as maybe he know that she was who helped Cloud to remember his true past, thus making that Cloud managed to stop be still his puppet, and this allowed the hero to may faces his arch-nemesis. Meaning that this time, Sephiroth could plans to break even more Cloud, to makes that he begin to doubt from Tifa. Even who know, to consider the consequences for defeated the whispers, perhaps Tifa will be who end dying than Aerith, as now the fate isn't definite anymore. Without count that if Sephiroth know about the original timeline, kill Tifa could be more benefical to his plans to long term, because without her, Cloud couldn't retrieves his memories, and in turn, if he spares Aerith's life, she couldn't return to the Planet, making her a lesser threat in the process. At least as theory.

@@Jarekx2007 Part 1 of the remake was a dumpster fire scam. Has already re-released itself 3+ times. And ruined so many iconic core things about FF7, while at the same time failing to innovate or improve upon a single thing, that it wouldn't even be a good spinoff, no less a supposedly faithful namesake remake. Ever Crisis is a mobile game, yet somehow manages to look better than a PS5 game in every department, and manages to capture the FF7 spirit better too.

The confusion caused by the English team using "You know I killed her... so who is she?" (even with tifa on screen) instead of the Japanese "I was the one who killed Tifa, so who is that?" 😅 really curious how Sephiroth will play mind games on Cloud about Tifa, making him mistrust her?
