People need to remember that Marlene (like Cloud and Red XIII) got the fuzzy buzzy screen treatment when she got close to Aerith (when she was rescued at 7th Heaven), so she now likely has insight into OG game events in the same way that they did in Remake (Cloud seeing flashes of the famous death scene, Red seeing flashes of his future children, etc.)

My theories sound absolutely batshit, but if mine are right, oh my god is the end of this one and all of part three gonna be absolutely crazy. I think the FFVII story is one of a repeating nature, over and over. Marlene after being touched by Aerith has seen what happens in the timeline at some point. Same with Red XIII and Cloud. I think Cloud is the one who deals the blow, being controlled by the black materia. I also think the timelines merge, and Zach (with the assistance of Cloud (and other characters who haven’t died in the other timeline) defeat Sephiroth in a new merged timeline that becomes possible because of our party destroying the bonds of fate in Remake.

Remake (or the trilogy) is actually a sequel to FF7, not reimagination. As is the trend in japanese anime and manga these days, Sephiroth has regressed back to a time before his death. Aerith also seems to be somewhat aware of the events from Sephiroths previous regression, perhaps the knowledge is in the lifestream.

A reimagining as in on-par with Star Fox Zero was with Star Fox 64?
