Today I'm talking about Sephiroth's plan in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and speculating about a power he may be trying to control.

3:40 We don't have anything...direct about Sephiroth. But we have a bunch of Type G soldiers who have leaders with impulses.. and ultimately what does Weiss try to do? First, he performs the task that Zirconiade and/or Meteor is intended to do. He is having his troops gather 'lifestream'. Zirconiade would do it by eliminating life and absorbing it. Meteor would do it by forcing the planet to cull drastic amounts of life to heal the wound. Zirconiade is meant to feed that culled life into Omega Weapon. Meteor would funnel it into the wound and Sephiroth. Weiss is gathering it and having it loaded into Omega Weapon directly. Sephiroth wants to sail the cosmos with the planet as his vessel. Omega Weapon is an entity that is the final stage of a planet's cycle of death and rebirth, where the energy is launched into space to find a new rock to pump with the salvaged lifestream to Rebirth the planet. Hojo in dirge explains that not only is this a system that all planets likely have, but that he theorizes that Jenova itself was likely the Omega Weapon, and has been trying to forcefully Rebirth its own planet into their Star (its worth noting for some reason other inhabitable planets are called stars, and Bugenhagen names the planet Hoshi (lit. Star) in Japanese and "Our Star" in Rebirth English). So, technically we don't learn too much that is new, but the intentions are repeated by what remained of Jenova's genetic offspring.

Oh yeah there are definite hints and seemingly echoes of his existence, but I mean from the perspective of we don't see him doing anything etc. "We have Sephiroth at home" Weiss

I believe that Seps goal, is to use Cloud as a vessel, be Cloud per se. Which is why there are two Clouds. As it relates to Zack. I believe that he is dead. That he is in between life and death. He is on borrowed time (7secs perhaps). Be mindful, this still has to transition into Advent Children. As it relates to Aerith. I believe her death will occur, the twist being she will die before she summons Holy. I believe her consciousness will go to the other Aerith.

I believe this will transition into Advent Children the same way Crisis Core Reunion transitions into Remake. That is to say with a LOT of creative liberty and vague possible explanatins as to how it can all still fit together. Otherwise there would be very little freedom for Rebirth and part 3.

I agree! I do believe that Remake is what the Devs had in mind in the 90s. That this IS the ORIGINAL. If what I am saying is true, that would imply that the transition to Advent Children would be the same. It’s a different take, but it makes sense. Would explain the original stamp bag as well ;)

@@andrecaldwell4891 I see what you're saying and a lot of developer commentary seems to suggest that they're really changing much less than it appears. However, they also said that they were gonna wrap this story up with the Re-project and personally I'd find it rather unsatiafying if the final part of the story (released last, I mean) doesn't conclude the story. Idk I'm just not a big fan of prequels in general, because their endings are always spoiled. It's also why I'm glad I played Crisid Core before the og. But obviously that's just me :)

Fantastic video, and I agree. Remake was Sephiroth merely enabling himself via Cloud and co to have the ability to defy destiny. And Rebirth will likely be the party actively going against destiny. Destiny includes Aerith's death, and likely Sephiroth has every intention of altering that as well, so we may not even know if Aerith lives or dies by Rebirth's end. And with Aerith incapable of communing with the planet and Zack being cut off from the lifestream to connect with Cloud, Sephiroth would have free range of both Cloud and the Lifestream by part 3.

@@jesusrodriguezcolon8315 I highly doubt that. It'll be Aerith or no one or Cloud only to be replaced by the other cloud. I guarantee it won't be anyone else in a permanent manner. People are getting ahead of themselves with the fate angle. They've said countless times they want people to have doubts but they are largely keeping it the same story and not deviating heavily. Anyone who thinks they are gonna kill off an entirely different character that's important is kidding themselves

I think Cloud dies, that's why on NG+ you can play as other members of the party as the main. Also I think part 3 will be Reclaim(ed).

How many Sephiroths we got in remake? Shouldn’t there still be another in the northern crater that fell into the lifestream in Nibelheim? Will these Sephiroths be at odds with one another?

I think there are two all together. This Sephiroth in the crater, exerting his will from there as in the OG. And this new mystery Sephiroth, probably AC Sephiroth, exerting a new will and trying to shape destiny.

I'm so torn - most evidence we have points to Clouds arc being immensely different - him attacking Tifa as soon as in Gongaga - showing himself to be an enemy or at least potentially possessed changes the group dynamic drastically - no one is ever gonna let Cloud near them, alone after that attack... and I'm torn because his Arc IS the main character/protagonists arc AND my favourite part AND the unique story beat of the original FF7. changing that to such a degree that we might get Clouds psyche healed up BEFORE Aeriths potential death... HOW could anyone argue thats the same game?? HOW could the developers look at that and say "yep, that's a REMAKE" ...? the upside or the reason I'm drawn the other way, positively instead of negatively to all this - is that the characterization in both remake and what we've seen in Rebirth not to mention the whole narrative being informed by gameplay systems when characters trust and friendship levels will go from full to empty based on one scene... it will sell the emotions so much deeper and the characters are portrayed so much better ... but it won't be a remake, they're just taking the old characters and making up new stuff - a sequel or more like how a stage play is adapted by the actors and directors of the play/musical....

They're faking you out. He's hallucinating attacking Tifa. He's gonna wake up in the bed at the inn and start freaking out about what he thinks he did. And no one is arguing IT'S THE SAME GAME!?!?! People and the developers included are telling everyone that it's not only a sequel in isolation and completely different in every aspect. Is there a Nibelheim flashback? Will you drive a buggy? Is Vincent sleeping in a coffin? 95% of the game being a reimagining of those core aspects while leaving in 5% to make speculation go wild is certainly something where you can say "yup, that's a remake AND a sequel." Zack and Cloud do crazy stuff in the opening cutscene to defy destiny AND THEN we cut to the Nibelheim flashback. A remake AND a sequel. If the opposite is true and "IT'S NOT THE SAME GAME AT ALLL!?!?!?" then doesn't that make all this stuff we're seeing in trailers redundant? We know what happens in the Nibelheim flashback. Cloud and Red are already best bros, why hang out with him in Kalm and act like they aren't? Dyne is already dead. Skip over all of that and just get to the point where destiny changes. No Nibelheim flashback, just ask Aerith what we need to do differently to stop omniscient Sephiroth this time. Your characters come across as amnesic idiots reenacting Groundhog Day otherwise if this really has nothing to do with the plot of OG FFVII.

But the stand alone fact that either they resolve Clouds arc in rebirth OR they break the narrative and have to do flashbacks in part 3 to make anything of it make sense. Clouds arc is dependent on nibelheim flashback. Starting this game off with it is deliberate, because they mean to resolve it with Cloud accepting he's a clone... but we already know that the game ends at forgotten capitol.... the grief of losing Aerith and having been shaken to the core won't have time to settle in if Cloud descends moments after or god forbid He actually kills her. Its very superficially the same story, mostly because the characters have the same name...

What do you think is the significance of Sephiroth attacking from the side? Also what plan do you think he has for Cloud? And did you see the scene where it looks like we’re returning to the Edge of Creation?

I'm not too sure, it could be an entirely different scene and isn't even related to the Forgotten Capitol. But my brain keeps thinking "AC Sephiroth" attacks early, while baiting Cloud to intervene. That means the whole party are there when "Crater Sephiroth" turns up to do the deed, so instead of dropping in from above he attacks from the side or something. Not too sure, a few possibilities though.

One of your best sir. Time to hit replay... So who or what do you think created the "Zack" world where he lives? Sephiroth? The planet? Dumb luck? As for destiny, do we take Aerith at her word that we can, or have changed it? Or is that all an illusion? I go with the happier possibility, only because of how that question plays out in other titles in the FF franchise.

My prediction is that Aerith will live in Rebirth. i think we will go through That Scene and Cloud will stop him. Then in part 3 just when we start to really think she might live through the game, he will kill her in a different, unexpected way😞

I've done a few Zack vids in the past and talking about him is always interesting, he's going be so important to all of this. They've already told us he's going to be vital in understanding how the world of FFVII ticks and he'll be a huge part of solving the Sephiroth mystery as well.

The devs: -we arent changing the story -ff7 will still be ff7 as usual -remake is a coming together of the compilation -changes are for old fans to have something to look forward to -it will link up to advent children I think those that are leaning heavily into the idea that this is a totally new story are going to be the most disappointed with the Remake project when its all done. I think it will amount to the same story overall even if there are twists or inversions of scenarios. I personally don't care if its a sequel or not as long as it makes sense for what they're trying to do. Overall, its way more exciting not knowing and im all for it. but you probably should be ready for something really crazy to happen in this game that wont be resolved until part 3. Just enjoy the ride.
