Two things that break my heart whenever I replay FFX: how Yuna just smiles when Tidus tells her about Zanarkand and how he wants to be finish up the pilgrimage, and how Yuna stays behind after leaving each area.. just to absorb the beauty one. last. time.

Still to this day, it's one of the most haunting, emotional, tragic and well acted cutscenes in videogame history.

Gotta love how clueless Tidus was. He really had no idea how literal the summoners' sacrifice really is and how he kept thinking the pilgrimage was just one long challenging adventure, and how he kept encouraging Yuna to finish it with a carefree sense of optimism, even innocently told her that, if Sin returned, she could just "defeat Sin again". He never thought that "defeating Sin again" would never be a possibility for her if she went through with the Final Summoning.

The thing that clenches my heart is when Isaaru and Dona step in and Isaaru talks about the dream all the people of Spira wish to have even if it means death which is the eternal calm. Its what the people of Zanarkand did and it created Sin. 😭 Also the ending to FFX is the best.

It was too hard for them to say, especially them (the party) knowing the love interest between the two (Tidus and Yuna). They must have been thinking that Yuna had to tell him, which why Rikku was all like she told you didn't she? But Yuna didn't know how, or was just afraid, to tell him. This is truly a heartfelt scene. They really did a fine job with this game, I must commend them for that, lots of emotional moments throughout the game.

I love how Valofor consoles tidus because he learned the truth and hated that he was ignorant of the truth. Ffx is truly a masterpiece

The saddest part is they just ended up reversing their fates. Yuna lived, and Tidus had to be sent along with the rest of the faith. He saved her at the cost of himself. His departure was even more heartbreaking that hers, because Yuna had long since prepared herself for her fate. She knew it since day 1. Titus literally only figured it out the day before, and chose to go through with it anyways.

As a child watching this scene, I never understood the significance of it. 19 years later today as an adult, this scene hits very, very differently. I used to think the whole dialogue was unnecessary and filler at best, because I didn't bother to read nor understand the context behind it when I was little. Ironically, I always knew what the story meant so having that 19-year gap allowed me to come back and relive the story in a fresher way. FFX was ahead of its time in discussing racial oppression, racism, stereotyping and xenophobia through the simple conflict of the Al Bheds vs. Yevon. Perhaps I shied away from FFX for a long time because I hated how emotional and serious it was compared to FF8. FF7 and FF9 had its own moments too but FFX was on another level. Mind you, I still have issues with Tidus' development from zero to hero, but Wakka's character development on the other hand truly touched me. The way his faith in Yevon shattered, how he chose to process his shattered beliefs and eventually learning to accept Rikku and her kind on his own terms. It was endearing to see him develop that sense of empathy towards them. It was at that moment he realized the world was not as simple as it seemed, and the faith that he had so wholeheartedly devoted to was but an illusion. And then there's Lulu, who always maintained an objective take on things, and understood the world for what it already is, yet learning to accept and live with things she cannot change. Lulu and Wakka were some of the most well-written casts I tell you. Back then I was rooting for the Yevons all the way through, and very very funnily, thought the team vs. Yevon at Bevelle was just them opposing against Yuna's marriage to Seymour. And I really thought this particular scene was just Isaaru and Dona sending the fallen Al Bheds away in an act of charity/kindness, despite their dislike for them. You can even tell Dona was willing to let her smug slide and allowed her compassion to show through. Loved the way that character changed too. Anyway, it was the other way round, they were honoring the people who protected them, the very people whom they were raised to despise and cast aside. What I'll never know is what those Al Bheds felt moments before their death as they were defending the summoners. I know they're just pixelated characters and they've been immortalized in that way, but my point is the Al Bhed were wounded healers. They were treated with disgust and yet they gave their all in protecting Spira's hope - The Summoners.

We were all Tidus in this moment. Man I wish I could go back to the first time I played this, and was just as naive and new to Spira as Tidus was. What a masterpiece of a game

Yuna was thinking like Leonard Nimoy: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Rikku and Cid were thinking like Nicole Sullivan: "T'Cha, you know what? Uh-uh!"

That background music makes all the difference.

I can't believe they didn't take out that annoying alert during one of the most pivotal and important moments in the game

I had this game when I was 10 years old, in my opinion this scene emotionally hit me coz of what was being said about what would happen to Yuna and how all the characters reacted to it not just Tidus, one of the best storylines of video games I know.

So ultimately, the Al bhed were right all along. If you say fuck it to the final summon, instead gather a ridiculous amount of pure unadulterated FIREPOWER - either really strong Guardians or enough super powerful machina - you could just punch out Sin directly, wake the Fayth and end this whole cycle of tragedy once and for all.

I know a lot of people complain about voice acting in this game, but I don’t get where this came from. Too spoilt by modern games perhaps? When this game came out, me and my friends were amazed by the mere fact that the characters were voiced at all. We were expecting speech bubbles like in FF9 and I clearly remember geeky kids in my class were like ‘shit they can talk!’. Nobody I knew had any problem with it, as the game already looked and sounded way better than any games we had ever experienced at that point. We should remember how old this game is. This was back in the days of windows 98 and nokia 3310, way before KZfaq and high speed internet. This game was way ahead of its time. I’ve just finished FF7R on PS5 and as impressive and it is, I was more impressed with FF10 then.
