Favourite ff game, by faaar. Emotional story, great cast , amazing graphics, and of course, epic soundtrack. People hate it because of the lack of the exploration and its linearity.

First form took me 6 months to beat due to raging. Second form took two weeks because after a few losses, i simply went back and forth between Oerba and the Archylte Steppe 4 to 5 times doing every fight possible. Took him down in 9 minutes after that. Third form, got some shrouds and took him down on the second try.

The cutscene before this boss is one of the best in the entire game.

I played with Lightning, Fang and Vanille and at first I had a really hard time getting past him and winning. I hadn't developed Lightning as far as I would've liked to, so I had to keep going back into the village to farm crystal points. Finally I did it, but this was one of the harder fights in the game.

Was having trouble with this fight, then I leveled all my roles to level 4 and studied your video wrote down the Pardigm's went back and tried again and got it first try, thanks alot, although it took me a little longer I think your weapons may be better and I didn't use tri-disaster for more than a turn or two because I wanted to keep my health up with RAV RAV MED, thanks alot though!!

Well, Dysley was the one who gave him food, and a roof, and pretty sweet world to live in. So I guess he could be considered his "parent" in a way. Nothing wrong with hugging your parent now right? ;)

Guys theres a REALLY fast way to beat him! It took me literally 3 minutes Use Vanille, Fang and Hope med/med/med sab/sab/med sab/sab/syn rav/com/rav sab/com/rav Keep debuffing him, over and over, When he's staggered, go on full attack with Relentless assault. I recommend using shrouds: if he does the attack that removes the shrouds, summon and Eidolin, and this prevents him from removing your buffs. Its really effective, trust me!

i have a question: how can i make the paradigm shift transition animation to be the "quick" one, instead of the one in which the camera focuses on each character, one after another? sometimes i just need those extra seconds.

I Don't get it.. it appeared like the HP coming off the boss was meanless as you only seemed to be affecting the 'Smash Bros' bar in the top right....I mean watching any other RPG or Final Fantasy you can usually at least catch the jist of whats actually happening on the screen from any vid, 13 on the other hand......

This fight is why everyone overprepped before facing Bartandelus III and proceeded to wipe is ass

If you take over 20 minutes trying to fight him, he casts doom on you.

The world of final fantasy XIII is so magical... sad that a lot of people didnt like this game. Its an acquired taste but its better than most of the jrpgs that have come out this generation. Fang, lighting, and sazh are probably one of the best characters to come out of a square enix title since FFX.

its an upgrade from the uhm ach i cent remember the original spear, take a look at the effect and the 1st incarnation of it is what transforms into this.

This boss only took a little over five minutes in this and his previous form... Never really found Barthandelus to be the giant level-check of doom, or for that matter, any other boss in this game. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing Doom outside the Eidolon battles.

oh my god dude... how long did it take to grind for all those weapon levels? (and im assuming that all of your crystarium trees are full.) are you able to get back to the main gran pulse area and do it there? i just got hechatoncheir so i'm not sure if i can...

Ok, have you literally maxed out your characters or i should say your party, that's the only way i could see your parties health being so abnormally high.

@ASephiroth to answer that question he casts doom on your party leader when his hp is < 500,000 HP.... he doesnt awlways do this :L

I want to use that flash red line but I don’t even know how, the battle is taking too much time when I’m using the ordinary blue one so I end up being smashed

my strat is always damage damage damage, kill him in 1-2 staggers only. i max out everyone's main job classes and dabble everyone into a little bit of their secondaries

@Weirdosaur yes. watch the gameXplain video to beat him. i dont mean to act like someone posting spam but he does it step by step for each battle. i would have never beaten some bosses without his vids just PM me if you want a link

Dude, Snow just downright sucks. Light, Fang, and Hope are the way to go. Although, Snow is a better Sentinel, he just sucks at his other roles.

You play with characters I never play with XD. I was so weak when I first fought this Barthandelus :P Asshole used Doom on me after fighting for 25 minutes and his HP was only halved..

I guess that's why I lost to him the first time. I'm not very confident with my weapon upgrade, most of them are low leveled still.
