I kind of got tired of all of the EXP farm videos primarily being for New Game + / Final Fantasy difficulty, so I figured I'd throw my hat into the ring with a spot I found in the new DLC (The Rising Tide) where you can gain a lot of XP relatively quickly.
1. Progress until you've unlocked the "Tailwind Bay" Obelisk and have access to the Leviathan Eikon.
2. Warp to the Obelisk, and then head south west towards the group of about five Old Ibex.
3. Try and line them up, and then use / cast "Cross Swell"
4. If the single cast didn't defeat all of them, wipe out the remaining Old Ibex and then warp back to "Tailwind Bay" Obelisk.
5. Rinse and repeat until you're bored / hit max level.
If you aren't using any EXP boost items, you'll earn 3,750 XP for defeating the group of Old Ibex. A perfect run takes about 30 seconds, so hypothetically you should be earning around 450,000 XP an hour.
Of course, if you use the EXP boost items then you'll be earning 4,685 per run, which is about 562,200 XP an hour.
There easily could be more efficient ways to earn XP in NG, but this is the most efficient I've stumbled across. Hope it helps.

I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was also looking for an exp farm video that wasn't for New Game + / Final Fantasy difficulty and with rising tide.

Oh nice, seems like a very straightforward method. :)

thanks for the video! you have found a goos spot for AP too?

I haven't really gone out of my way for anything specific in regards to AP farming. I was primarily concerned with getting higher level so I could pass the DPS check against Leviathan, and used whatever I could in the DLC (I happened to have everything maxed out, AP wise, before the DLC dropped), so I'm not entirely sure what's the best AP Farm for Rising Tide. This was what I was using for base game - www.powerpyx.com/final-fantasy-16-xvi-fastest-ability-points-farming-method/

The dlc is out? it came and went like a fart

A silent but deadly fart maybe. Shit was the most beautiful location in valisthea, the most intriguing story addition, new gameplay mechanics, two new eikons (one of which being ultima himself, and totally op); it brought with it a patch containing absolutely massive, game changing quality of life improvements, and topping it all off with a fun rogue-like mode offering thoughtful rewards.

This was a good area but you are doing it wrong. Enter the final stage and fight all the mobs of enemies in that area. When you are about to enter the final bosses chamber, back out and repeat.

No offense, but your directions are unclear - are you talking about the final area of base game, Echoes of the Fallen, or Rising Tide, and is your method for NG or NG+ / Final Fantasy difficulty? Almost every single XP strategy I've found on message boards or here on KZfaq is primarily for NG+, and while they do indeed award lots of XP, they also have a significantly longer setup / can take a touch longer to pull off. Looking back at my footage, based on whatever I had equipped at the time I earned 9,684 XP from the mobs right before the Timekeeper, though dispatching all mobs in that one battle took around two minutes for me personally. I similarly earned 7,750 XP when fighting the mobs directly before the Leviathan fight, which took around 30 seconds (same as my farm), though I'm unfamiliar with how repeatable the area just before Leviathan is. Either way - the main point of my video was to figure out a really fast and low effort farm to grind XP *for* the Leviathan fight for NG (not NG+) as the DPS check was kicking my ass, and this was what I discovered and decided to share. So no - I'm not "doing it wrong" - this was what worked for me to gain a few extra levels to ensure I could complete the DPS Check and what I wanted to share to help out anybody who was in a similar boat to myself. As stated in the description of the video, it's entirely possible there's a more efficient way to earn XP in NG - but this was what I found, and so far after doing a quick search here on KZfaq before writing this comment all of the XP farm videos are the same NG+ centric videos that I found relatively unhelpful, and nothing specific for Rising Tide.

Literally what final boss stage. Ultimas lair has no mobs in it. The final boss of the rising tide dlc is an eikon battle, definitely unclear.

Jesus people. Enter the Aire of Hours (red shield). Its literally right there on the map. Fight all the mobs before you fight the main boss of the DLC. Once you approach his lair, back out and replay the entire stage

@@deansnipah1392 Thanks for finally clarifying the specifics of your method. So your specific method requires you to *not* complete the final mission of the DLC. That’s all well and good, but if you dig deep into your method it seems to be far less efficient unless your build is hyper optimized and everything goes perfectly. Scrubbing through my footage, there’s a total of 12 fights throughout the mission, including the fights against Master Tonberry, Hreidmar, and Timekeeper. The XP values are as follows: 9,370, 9,687 (Master Tonberry), 5,622, 6,873, 6,875 (Hreidmar), 8,433, 3,748, 12,181, 9,684, 7,500 (Timekeeper), 8,125*, and 9,688*. This is 97,786 XP. Now, to be fair, the final two values are an estimation on my part based on the XP percentage increase from the XP boost gear as I had forgotten about those two fights and unequipped my gear in prep anything to help against Leviathan. The base values for those two fights are 6,500 and 7,750. So if you want to throw out my estimations in favor of the base values of those two fights, then the value becomes 94,223. Now also to be fair, it’s entirely possible that while scrubbing through my VOD footage I missed a fight or two. I don’t think I did, but that’s entirely possible. It took me a total of 45 minutes to get from the start of the mission to finishing the final fight before Leviathan on my second attempt at the mission (as after reaching the Leviathan DPS check and failing there multiple times I quit out to grind XP). Once again, to be fair, these 45 minutes included me watching cinematics, some light exploration, and a bit of menu faffing about. I’m not entirely sure the exact amount of time the area in question would have taken if you exclude those factors (cinematics, exploration, menus). Regardless, to meet and exceed my XP farm method, you would need to be able to clear all 12 fights in 10 minutes or less. 2 of those 12 fights are against pretty spongey mini-bosses, and one of those fights is against the Timekeeper boss which has an unskippable mid-bossfight cinematic. This also requires you to have a very optimized build, every fight needs to go perfectly, and you *can’t* finish the mission / defeat Leviathan (Stage Replay is completely out of the question - just hopping in and doing the very first fight I earned 3,370 XP, which is a 64% decrease). While it’s certainly a far more varied method than mine, I personally don’t think it’s possible to complete all 12 fights in 10 minutes or less. I could easily be wrong. If you’re able to do all 12 fights in less than 10 minutes then that’s really cool. I’d genuinely love to see a video of you doing that, since that would be one hell of a speedrun. If you prefer your lengthier, more varied method that requires far more optimization and precision that’s cool. To each their own, However, I’d like to once again state that I’m not “doing it wrong”. My method of farming one particular group of enemies in about 30-40 seconds over and over again is seemingly far more efficient time wise than going through 12 fights (3 of which are against bosses) in under 10 minutes.
