1:34-2:10. I'll never ever forget how my game synced up perfectly & right at the start of 1:34, Benedikta transforms. UGH IT'S SO GOOD EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS PART!

@@alphazig7267 some parts are definitely coded, like the end of “find the flame” playing when you are about to beat infernal shadow, but not every QTE or cutscene moment is always synced up w music. Honestly that makes it cooler when it does

Probably because the original is just a muffled mumbo-jumbo of raw, poorly programmed virtual instruments

@Jeremie_K While there are some tracks on this OST that are very noticeably based in virtual instruments (with a scattered few being of lesser fidelity than I would have expected), man, To Sail Forbidden Seas is surely not one of those. That one sounds much harder to tell the difference as to whether it's orchestrated or sample-based, and not just because of the choir. I do think the original is a bit more boomy and reverb-heavy than this recording, but on my speakers it nevertheless has a bit more 'presence' and clarity. Heck, I think the harp glissandos in particular are much easier to pick out in the OST version. This was a nice, solid performance (that maybe could have been picked up better by the sound system/mics/etc.), but as far as the OST goes, I wouldn't lump this track in with some of the more obviously sequenced offerings.

@@Jeremie_Kbro what? While there might be a few virtual instruments as that’s a very reliable strategy to mix them w real players, to sail forbidden seas is one of the best mixed and sounding songs in the game

As much as I love this, I feel that the choir in my opinion is too little, the choir was a huge part throughout the OST and it doesn't feel the same when their voices are somewhat drowned out by the bombastic nature of the theme. Again this is just my opinion and I simply think adding double the amount of people to the choir would bring the lyrics to the forefront or being in tandem with the music itself. I CAN hear the choir speak, I just prefer them to be a little louder than that and more bodies up there in the back would provide that I believe.

If you played XIV but not XVI, the main melody should be familiar as well - this piece used the leitmotif of "fate" from XIV (which itself appeared in both the boss FATE overworld music "Hard to Miss" as well as the Eureka background theme "Wicked Winds Whisper.") Since the tagline of XVI was "Defy your Fate" it's no surprise that Souken took that leitmotif and transformed it into this lush orchestral and choral masterpiece for the boss fights of XVI. I enjoyed XVI for what it is - a flawed masterpiece - but the one thing I have no complaints about is the soundtrack, as Souken continues to prove he is a worthy successor to Uematsu.
