Not necessarily so, really. Once Zelda had been kidnapped he HAD to go to Ganon's castle immediately otherwise Ganon could have easily killed Zelda and taken the Triforce of Wisdom, leaving him even more powerful. Ganon also threatens to feed all of the Gorons to Volvagia, so Link also has that time restraint for getting in to the Fire Temple, along with Bongo Bongo wreaking havoc upon Kakariko Village, leaving Link with another time restraint to save Impa, as she had gone to the Shadow Temple to seal Bongo Bongo away, not to mention the fact that immediately after he woke up from that horrible nightmare he had at the start of the game he had to go save the Great Deku Tree from dying (which, yes, he did die anyway, but if he had died before telling Link anything, Link would have had no direction given to him for what he should do next), then he had to save the Gorons from starvation by clearing out Dodongo's Cavern so the Gorons could eat again, then Link also had to quickly save Princess Ruto from being stuck inside Lord Jabu Jabu's stomach. In-game, there were no time restrictions for how long you had to do a dungeon, but story-wise, there were many.

I wouldn't call it a happy town on the first day. Everyone can see what's gonna happen. The happiness is a facade to cope with the inevitable, save for a miracle.

scp 1048 Well, we can't run. With our best tech, maybe. But only a few people, at best. And they have to RUN. But we wouldn't be killed by the moon itself... you see, the moon has an effect on Earth's tidal waves. It would warp Earth every which way foot loose, releasing natural disasters, I.e., floods, all across the planet. If we somehow survive that, the moon would obliterate Earth. If we tried to destroy the moon, the debris sent flying (assuming our strongest weapons would even destroy the moon anyway) would likely be caught by Earth's gravity and be pulled to the surface, causing an effect similar to the end of the dinosaurs. Long story short, there's nothing we could do, really.

Jun Wang I really hope for a spiritual successor/sequel type thing for MM, it’s truly unique and nothing needs to fully replicate what it did but just trying to recapture the magic that game had is something they’ve yet to do imo

Well your in luck. The BoTW sequel trailer looks like the complete opposite of what BoTW was. It has gone from being uplifting and happy to being dramatic and scary. Looks good.

From what I heard, Nintendo is making the next Zelda a dark one, although not sure if I read this right somewhere but Nintendo maybe mentioned they were going to try to make it more dark than Majora's mask as well, we shall wait and see

And that is exactly why this is the darkest Zelda game as far as overall tone is concerned. And why I love it to death.

JennyMarie93 People get on Ocarina of Time for being dark (especially when it comes to the Shadow Temple), but... when you look into this game, _really_ look into it, it hurts. A lot more. This game is dark, and perhaps that's why it's my favorite game of all time, tied with BotW (both games are incredible).

What about twilight princess that game is pretty dark especially with that ZANT SNAPING GANDORFE'S NECK

JennyMarie93 I'm not even too sure about this honestly. Sure, Ocarina of Time's time travel used the timeline-split-theory where travelling through time merely teleports you into an alternate dimension, but that doesn't mean that playing the song of time like in Majora's Mask works the same way. What if the universe and every single atom's movement literally "stops" as soon as Link plays the song of time and resets back to the point he travelled to, so that all of those events in that time only ever happened in Link's memories (instead of continuing in an alternate timeline)? Of course the game never goes too deep into this so it's pure speculation, but it's worth thinking about.

@@azoth3199 well human instinct and reason says the further you are from impact, the less likely you will die. Some people survived an atomic bomb, and that moon object didn't seem as big as the land, in a developer's perspective.

@@azoth3199 the moon is coming down so slow and it's kinda small for a moon anyway so if everyone just ran to the mountains they'd be almost completely fine, sure the town would be smushed but that's the only damage that would happen. Unless the moon started rolling around...

Its an orchestral effect, where the strings slide up the fingerboard. Its used a lot in horror music. (The sound was from Orchestral Essentials strings cinematic textures)

Techhunter Talon I think it was a good decision to include the Clock Town theme at the end. That brutal mood whiplash, from witnessing a horrible apocalypse to waking up in the happiest of towns, is what Link has to go through every time he escapes the end of the world. It's amazing he still keeps his sanity.

I completely agree. As someone who has actually never truly played Majora's Mask (it's like the only one besides the GB ones that I haven't played), I can't tell you how auditorily horrifying it was to go from a cacophony of screams, destruction, and death, to the cheerful hustle and bustle of Clock Town. To hear the jaunty music and energy of a settlement and its people AFTER you know exactly what it's apocalyptic fate is going to sound like, is extremely off-putting. That was very powerful and dread-inducing.
