For anyone who didn't catch the whole game, it was one for the books, a real nailbiter. Final Jeopardy was not the deciding factor. Matt was up against some strong competition who kept him from running away with it at the start. He spent much of the game in second place, inching his way forward while each of the other two contestants scored true Daily Doubles. With only a couple of minutes left in the game, it all hinged on the final Daily Double, which Matt managed to catch. He had just inched ahead by a couple thousand, but he knew he wasn't safe there, so he decided to risk all of his $13,000, and his entire chance at winning, on getting that question right. The stakes could not have been higher. It was a classic Jeopardy moment.

What I find incredible is that he is kicking butt with different hosts. He has to be in rhythm with three wildly different deliveries in order to ring in at the right time.

Loving Matt!! Also, really, REALLY, enjoying David Faber as guest host. I could definitely see him being good as permanent host, up there with Ken and Aaron for me.

@@DuffyLONER64 Sorry, he has been so bad for so many years, I cannot have a neutral opinion on him. I liked several hosts better than him. Almost all the hosts are Lefties, so that is not the issue, but rather style and personality. I was a bit disappointed with Levar Burton - given all the hype surrounding his guest appearance. After Ken and Aaron Rodgers, I think Mayim Bialik and Robin Roberts were very good - and I am liking the current host, David Faber, too.

@@jdhjimbo I definitely agree with LeVar. How was George bad for many years? All I know him from was GMA (I mean, I know he was also with Clinton's White House, but he seems way past that, IMO), and he seems pretty genuine on there.

This episode was the first time I can remember seeing every contestant have a successful True Daily Double. And Matt was the one to complete the hat trick.

All three who participated in the "Greatest of All Time" tournament (Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, Brad Rutter) are also Chasers on "The Chase.". I'd bet that if this guy wins enough to surpass their records, he may become a Chaser himself.

He has around $4.7 million left to beat Brad Rutter’s record, around $2.2 million left to beat Ken Jennings first record and 64 more wins to beat the other one, and as for Holzhauer, Matt just to beat his 1 day record which was $131,127 and he will beat all of their records.

When Matt went all in on that daily double at $13,000.00, and got it right, I jumped up out of my chair and said, yes!, along with a fist pump! The game was over at that point, he never looked back. The woman gave him a little competition in the first round, but it was all Matt in the second...GO MATT! 👍💪

AWESOME job winning Matt and keep on trucking. I have to say Matt is RELENTLESS and when it comes to the Daily Doubles and I know he doesn't always get them; however, he bets just like James Holzhauer does!

He has 4 contestants rhat are just ahead of him at 411k (2), 428k, and 430k, so 2 more wins will push him into 4th place for $$ won, though in games won, he has to break 19 to get into the upper tier. Ken, James and Jason Z are the top dogs to chase. I was disappointed in Jason's showing in the TOC, and perhaps, it was the long layoff that hurt - but for the 3rd highest dollar winnings, he did not win any games in TOC, but did qualify for one of the 4 WCs, but lost his quarterfinal match. Matt has a chance to be a real star. His recent games have been runaways. He has a real knack at getting Daily Doubles, betting it all, and getting the right. Today, each contestant got 1 DD. I like that he does not sit on his total, even with game wrapped up - but pushes it higher - a la Jeopardy James.

Today (8/11), Matt passed $500k, so tomorrow, he has a good chance of passing Jason Z into 3rd place ($535k), or for sure on Friday. After a couple big misses in Final, Matt is wagering smaller amounts the past couple or 3 days. Without that, he would already be in 3rd place all-time. It will take until Sept or October to reach the James/Ken level.

Actually got this one. :) Couldn't think of anything else that used to be under U.S. control. (to the point it would declare independence, anyway) Also Matt seems to be on the road to GOAT territory. He has been untouchable in the last few finals I've watched. I wish him luck.

I felt that question was misleading. I was dragging my brain over the land mass of Asia, not thinking of a group of islands in the Pacific. Is Jamaica considered part of North America?

Yes. Most of the Caribbean nations are considered North America. (Trinidad and Tobago with its close proximity to South America being an exception.)

Most people watch the actual show daily. I live in the Midwest, Jeopardy comes on every night at 7:30pm-8:00 pm on NBC. These short videos on this website are irrelevant.
