@@JD0124 The idiom is widely used subjectively. If the commentor viewed "fighting back" in a specific context, as innovative and radical, it could apply. For instance, the Proud Boys might view the Klan as "ahead of their time" in their attempts to subvert the percieved threat of shifting societal norms. Perhaps the commentor is a xenophobic conspiracy theorist, certain that the US is due for another event of this nature, and has preemptively formed an elite fighting force in hopes of defending the country. Perhaps they are a nutjob reverently saying the passengers were "ahead of their time" in identifying the threat and taking immediate action. Just sayin. The idiom COULD make sense, though, I can't think of a context that wouldn't hinge on them being batshit crazy.

@@cherigoodrich782 it’s not easier to get into the U.S. now, and the greatest threat to us isn’t coming over our southern border. We have more people seeking asylum through our southern border because of the de-stability in the nations they are coming from than because of any U.S. border policy. Don’t allow the news to indoctrinate or scare you. Thats a distraction. The danger from Islamic extremism is very real and our nation takes it seriously. The scariest thing I see happening in our country right now is the indoctrination in our “elite” universities. Extreme Islamic regimes have indeed succeeded in getting our young college students to hate Israel and many of them to hate Jews. And yes, I agree we need to come together as Americans and make life better… but not just as Americans. We need to protect everyone in the world from extremism. I don’t pretend to know the answer re how to stop it, but I do know that the people most victimized by Islamic extremism are Muslims. Does anyone reading this think they could have actually done what the passengers did on that flight? They went from relaxing in their seats to being totally terrorized, then planning and rushing the cockpit to retake the plane - all in about 20 minutes. Can anyone honestly say they could come to that conclusion and confer with total strangers that fast and actually act on it so decidedly? In my opinion, those passengers were WAY WAY WAY BEYOND BRAVE AND HEROIC. I can’t even imagine being in that scenario and having the wherewithal to come to a life altering decision so quickly, knowing I’m most likely going to die. I know they had called people who communicated was going on, but to do -as a group- what they did? That’s so far beyond courage. there’s no word that can describe it. No returns on karma, evil ones. And it's my personal opinion as a medium that the Innocent whose bodies suddenly are going to be k.illed in an unavoidable catastrophe are pulled out of (released from) their bodies in the instant before the body could feel the first pain. No karmic reason for the soul to stay connected to the body and feel the terrible pain of death when death of the Innocent is not demanded and created by the Innocent's own actions. Bless you dear Cousin Jimmy Rogers for the lesson your death taught me. ❤

What makes you really wonder if the pilots started to talk about trying to arm the cockpit whatever way was humanely possible which didn't give them any time because of how fast it most likely was.

I really hope that transmissions aren’t as clear as they are on here, as traffic control acts like they don’t understand anything.

United Airlines Flight 93 was a domestic scheduled passenger flight that was hijacked by four al-Qaeda terrorists on the morning of September 11, 2001, as part of the September 11 attacks. The hijackers intended to crash into a federal government building in Washington, D.C. The operation partially failed when the passengers fought back, forcing the terrorists to crash the plane in a Pennsylvania field, thwarting their main objective, but killing everyone aboard the flight. The airliner involved, a Boeing 757-222 with 44 passengers and crew, was flying United Airlines' daily scheduled morning flight from Newark International Airport in New Jersey to San Francisco International Airport in California, making it the only plane hijacked that day not to be a Los Angeles-bound flight. United Airlines Flight 93 UA 93's flight path from Newark, New Jersey, to Stonycreek Township, Pennsylvania Suicide hijacking Date Tuesday, September 11, 2001 Summary Terrorist suicide hijacking Site Field (Flight 93 National Memorial) near the Diamond T. Mine, a coal strip mine in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, U.S. 40°03′02.8″N 78°54′17.3″W Aircraft Aircraft type Boeing 757-222 Operator United Airlines IATA flight No. UA93 ICAO flight No. UAL93 Call sign UNITED 93 Registration N591UA Flight origin Newark Int'l Airport (now Newark Liberty Int'l Airport) Destination San Francisco Int'l Airport Occupants 44 (including 4 hijackers) Passengers 37 (including 4 hijackers) Crew 7 Fatalities 44 Survivors 0 Forty-six minutes into the flight, the hijackers stormed the cockpit and overpowered the pilots after murdering one passenger in the cabin. The microphone was keyed by the pilots as soon as the flight deck was breached, allowing controllers on the ground to eavesdrop on the struggle. Lead hijacker Ziad Jarrah, who had trained as a pilot in anticipation of the attacks, took control of Flight 93 and diverted it back toward the Eastern Seaboard, while his accomplices used strong-arm tactics to move the remaining passengers and crew to the rear of the aircraft under duress. From where they were seated, a number of people began making phone calls to contacts on the ground, and the real purpose of the mission became known to them within minutes. The flight was already 42 minutes behind schedule when it left the runway at 08:42. The hijackers' decision to wait an additional 46 minutes to launch their assault meant that the people being held hostage very quickly learned that suicide attacks had already been made by hijacked airliners on the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City as well as the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, near D.C. Twenty-nine minutes after the hijacking began, at 09:57, the passengers retaliated in an attempt to take control of the aircraft. The uprising lasted six minutes before the terrorists nosedived the plane into a field near a reclaimed strip mine in Stonycreek Township, not far from Indian Lake and Shanksville, around 20 minutes before it would have reached the National Capital Region. One person witnessed the impact from the ground, and news agencies began reporting the event within an hour. United Airlines Flight 93 was the fourth and final passenger jet to be commandeered by terrorists on September 11, and the only one that did not reach a target intended by al-Qaeda. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi bin al-Shibh, considered principal instigators of the attacks, have claimed that the target was the U.S. Capitol Building.[1] The hijacking was supposed to be coordinated with that of American Airlines Flight 77, which struck the Pentagon less than half an hour before the crash of Flight 93. A temporary memorial was built near the crash site soon after the attacks.[2] Construction of a permanent Flight 93 National Memorial was dedicated on September 10, 2011;[3] and a concrete and glass visitor center, on a hill overlooking the site,[4] was opened exactly four years later.[5

One week before 9/11 on pbs the head of the cia talked about a threat. His face looked fearful and wary. On that same show they interviewed a cab driver in a Middle East country. He was evasive but gave hints about attacks. He obviously had heard lots of talk in his cab but was afraid to be explicit. Pre-9/11 the blonde woman in charge of the FAA(?) talked about how dangerous the current hijacking procedure was. Pilots were required to take the hijacker wherever he wanted to go to keep the peace. We really dropped the ball. That’s how I felt when it happened. I was always taught our systems were in place to blast threats out of the sky. Nowhere was it mentioned that the attackers could have a plane full of hostages. We had warning but nothing like that had ever happened before and our depts didn’t talk to each other when they had reports of suspicious activity.
