Them old 283s were, in my option were just about one of the best engines Chevrolet ever made. You could do a lot with em for the small size they were. I actually helped a friend of mine put one in a Vega, and then a Luv truck. LOL! He had a lot of fun with both of them. I wouldn’t even drive either one of them. They scared the s**t out of me.

The doors, I believe on the 55, did not have a top door part. It normally opened like the later models. This car may have come with a 265 C.I. just like the Corvette.
