My apologies to those who have already watched this review. I had a BS copyright strike so decided to delete the video and part that could only have been the offending bit and reload it. Again, any questions or comments please add below, I will answer them this time , promise.

Enjoyed these mini vlogs, you said there would be bargains to have in one of your vlogs during the pandemic. £2k is a steal (for Carbon!). Nice one 👊🏻

Thanks for dropping by Andrew. Hope you and family are well. Glad somebody remembers my comments as per price hikes and deals to come. It’s a real bargain and even I’ve had to backtrack on some of my comments made about Carbon, it’s so nice to ride compared to the alr5. Appreciate the feedback as well, glad you’ve enjoyed the vlogs😊👍

Great review, I am seriously thinking of buying one. I already own an old S5 and love it, however, I always knew it would only light up when I replaced the wheels, tyres and cassette. It looks like it's the same with any bike in this price range these days. New wheels, tyres a price consideration when buying.

Your not wrong, always keep in mind the extra cost for upgrades, but the cost is worth it in the end. If I could lose 10/15kilo this bike would be a rocket😄 OK maybe not but it’s been the best bike I’ve ever owned, you can understand why some spend more, the performance is bought and paid for🫣 I’m even thinking of moving to southern Europe to get more sunlight and be able to enjoy it for more than 4/5 months😁 Thanks for the feedback and view appreciated😊👍

Cheers Harv, even though it’s a climbing bike I don’t think I’ll be beating you up any hill soon mate😜👍

I understand from other reviews that main task of this bike is climbing. Had Domane before and it was masterpiece of comfort and good handling of lesser quality roads. People complaining about Trek being too expensive should realise that they pay for their engeenering and very good quality frames with life quarantee. Thanks for the film !

I would say the trek sl5 emonda is a mid range bike and not entry. Its true its the entry carbon trek, but that does not mean its an entry level bike. Any carbon is considered mid range to the highest range. So why do i think its mid range? The price. An entry level bike starts at 700 pounds. The trek emonda sl5 is 2000 pounds. Shimano 105 is mid tier. The aero design of the sl5 is race like. I also think the sl5 does creep into a race category road bike, not necessarily leisure due to frame geometry. Not sure u agree , but it is a road race bike even though many cost way more

Entry level in the Carbon series. Cheers for comment.

Probably this is a good choice now. My race bike from 1979 was $1200 when I built up the frame. The weight oddly is quite similar. Restored, it still gets used regularly, though my favorite is an aluminum track bike. Almost indestructible!

Cheers David. It’s certainly a good buy pound for pound if you’re in the market for a new machine😊👍

With the Cosmics on it really is a good looking thing isn't it, even though road bikes are not really my thing. It sounds like it's enough bike for most people, and for a smidgen over two grand it's a pretty good deal. Good review James!

Just ordered the silver bargain from Balfes bikes £1899, look forward to getting on it, with Pirelli centurino velo 32s, hopefully give it a smoother ride ? Great video & review 👍

Thanks Daz, you won’t be disappointed mate great bike. If you want to soften the ride a little I’ve been riding the new Pirelli P Zero Road tyres, summer miles making me smile late. Cinturatos are mustard, but tougher compound. Enjoy 😊👍

Nicely thought out review James. As you stated, weight is not that important unless you are a 60kg rider and want to head for the hills and smash KOM's. For us social cyclists, it's more about comfort and enjoying the ride. Stay safe on the roads mate. 👍

High James I have watched all 3 videos and they were great as I have been wondering if there was a bit more comfort in the carbon frame than the ALR that I have. I have always had rim brakes and all my stuff is geared to rim brakes so I won't be changing to discs but if I could find a decent rim brake carbon emonda frame in a 58cm I might consider it, I have to say that the ALR is probably one of the best frames out there as you could easily mistake it for carbon as the welding is almost invisible. The thing is though you can get stuck with a bike now that prices have come down but the new bike prices are taking the piss. I recently saw a mint condition Harley Davidson top of the range almost as new for £12000 full of gadgets, panniers, all high tech spent over years of development so how can this work of art be cheaper than some of the new carbon bikes on the market today, its really has gone mad. Keep up the videos James I watch them all. Thanks Jim

I’m your biggest advocate for Rim Brakes Jim, always have been. Though something changed whilst riding the SL5. Just so responsive and without any weight penalty as well. That and the comfy Carbon frame it’s a no brainer for me. I hate the industry for trying to push me on discs, but the benefits are real and now they seem to have sorted the issues why fight it my friend😉 If you want Rim Brake Carbon, you’ll have to go back to the 2019 frame I showed. I didn’t like the look of that one. Thanks for commenting Jim, appreciated buddy😊👍
