@@JS-gc5ck The english version does mention that Golbez is trying to break in but there's also the idea of the Sealed Cave being imprenetrable so eh. Maybe its a plot hole, maybe not.

I'm late! But I'm here now. Every airship has not been able to fly over the lava. Specifically, when you crash land at the Dwarven Castle, Cid mentions that he needs to wrap the ship in Silver (Mithril with a proper translation). When Cid saves Cecil's party, he has already repaired the hull of the ship with Silver (Mithril) and that's why it was able to fly over the lava. While there's no explanation for the Falcon, I can only assume that it's a different ship than the main airship that Golbez was using. Though, the real reason is so that you can see that Cid survived. It would've been better if there was some dialogue about how the Falcon was one of the ships damaged in the fight with the Dwarven tanks.

For the TrapDoors, I like to have everyone defend quickly until I get to Rosa's turn. Then I cast wall on the person the TrapDoor searches on. The disrupt spell will bounce off the wall and kill the TrapDoor instantly.

1:06:24 This line is so much more awesome in the DS remake. Rubicante says, "the frozen winds of Hell's ninth circle cannot penetrate this cloak of flame I wear." He references the book that his name comes from. It's brilliant and poetic.

Funny enough, the GBA and DS ports of the classic FF games kept a small number of translation mishaps like spoony bard or son of a submariner due to how iconic they were amongst fans.

This game has such a special place in my memory. I was 13ish, parents divorced, mom worked two jobs, and this just flipped RPG games for me. We had no money, but a friend let me borrow this and his SNES. Still my favorite FF game to this day. Thanks for this series, and for doing such a great job on the play through. You rock!

@@tigerofdoomThat's a legit point. There are certainly a few JRPGs that at least feature a fake/weak end boss only for the more powerful version to show up. Even FFIV here... up to this point, most first timers would probably think the end will be a fight vs. Golbez. :)

Well done all around. My Jr High Volleyball team in gym was named Team Zemus until the finals, and then we became Team Zeromus:The Ultimate Hatred. The teacher hated it.

This actually made me fire up this game on my modded SNES classic. I usually play the PSP Complete Collection port or the Pixel Remaster but the feeling is NOT the same lol.

I agree. I just beat the Pixel Remaster and actually prefer the SNES original to it. There's definitely a magic to it. I'm going to play the PSP port next for the first time, I hear it's the best way to play it.

@@Alexvander10 The pixel remaster was a let down. And yes, the PSP Complete Collection port is far and away the best way to play it. If you ever played the GBA port, the Complete Collection port is pretty similar. I like the DS/PC/Steam port too but it can get pretty difficult.

Great job with the videos! An additional tip for those playing Final Fantasy IV. The way moves that cause status effects works is it checks to see if you are immune to any of the effects the move will inflict. So with the Molbol enemies when they use breath, you can avoid completely by having the Ruby Ring (Prevents piggy) on Cecil and Kain and the Rune Ring (Prevents silence) on Edge, Rydia and Rosa. Since breath inflicts both of these status effects, you gain total immunity from it just from having one of those arm gears equipped. This would also work with other gear that prevents status-effects. You can buy Ruby Rings in Troia (Though you also find plenty in the early game) and the dwarven castle sells the Rune Rings.

I think Rubicant doesn't WANT to win the fights. He tells you how to kill him, he tries to play fair, and he doesn't kill Edge in the first meeting. Rubicant is a mole

It's not that. He believes that he's so good that he HAS to be that honorable. It's incredibly arrogant and that real scary part is that he can back that up. When it comes to him showing mercy towards Edge, that's because he wants to keep humbling Edge.

Missed opportunity: stealing from an egg gives you the item the monster in the egg would've given you. The eggs with Lamia in them give you Charm Arrows, which are a lot stronger than what you had Rosa equipped with.

At this point, Cid dying is almost a meme for FF. First in the original FF2, then the close call in 4, then he died again in 6. Pretty sure he died in 8. Got turned into a bug then a frog in 9. Was killed by the party in 12, and has even died as recently as 16. I'm starting to think it's a fricken Dread Pirate Roberts thing and that "Cid" is a title that is passed down. Especially after what happened in 16.

If you go back to the Legendary Smithy later, he sells both types of shurikens and Samurai arrows. Also Red Giants are vulnerable to Weak.

In the SNES version of Final Fantasy IV, there's a bug with ranged weapons. If you equip a ranged weapon, it sets the ranged bit for that character, allowing them to do full damage regardless of their row or the enemy's. The bug is that even when you unequip the weapon, it never turns off the ranged bit. So equipping Edge with the Full Moon and then changing his equipment back would still be advantageous.

There's actually an easy way to one shot the trap doors. When it begins casting search on your party, have Rosa cast the wall spell on the party member being targeted. It'll try to use disrupt but instead it'll backfire and will kill the door instantly.

1:03:20 "I will bring you all down to the hades" was translated from the Japanese version of "You will all burn in the pits of hell" which....While I understand they tried to leave religious quips out where they could, this was a REAL headscratcher. This is my favorite video game - top 3 if ff4, ff10 and xenogears, i love a lot of games, but ff4 is my #1 - i've played it annually for as long as I knew about emulators i used to rent it from the video store and wouldn't be able to beat it in one day - and my safe file would always be gone - tried to rent it for 3 days, got to the end of the sealed cave - finally my mom bought it for me for my birthday - greatest game, best memories and just love it

I like that youre showing how you really dont have to grind in this game but i recently replayed ff4 pr and spent a bit of time grinding arachne that summoners call and was able to beat the trap doors down before they were able to disrupt anyone

It's amazing how many glitches and secrets I never knew about, even after playing the SNES, DS and mobile ports. Unless I'm mistaken you can cast reflect while in the fights with the Door enemies...on the target of search...it will reflect the "spell"!!

The Elven Bow also has a hidden property in that it's a mage-killer! So you got at least two great weapons against mage enemies (and is why Rosa hit the ToadLady so hard) from the Sylvan Cave.

One almost useless fact ablut Edge, is that he can equip the old Dark Knight swords that Cecil can't use anymore. Of course, only one is kinda useful by the point you get Edge, for the insta kill. But it's interesting to know he can use them for some reason.

Wow, three parts of several hours each, and there's *still* more to go! UCBVG, if this hasn't worn you out, then I applaud your stamina. That said, look after yourself, okay? Huge and ambitious projects like these are fantastic, but make sure you don't burn yourself out doing them.

I always like the Avenger on Kain, too. I give it to him immediately. The attack and speed boost make up for the fact that he can't jump. Especially since he doesn't get any other weapon upgrades for quite awhile. When I have it on him in the Sealed Cave, he's able to kill the trap doors before they have a chance to bump off any party members.
