i wonder if needs a vpn to stream in China. maybe just a overseas sim card with roaming. i heard that also "bypass" (allow pass) the great firewall.

You definitely need a good vpn. Twitch isnt strictly blocked like KZfaq in China, but the site just doesnt load properly without a vpn. Dont know if it's Twitch throttling bandwidth to China or what.

11:23 mostly just Shanghai. there are a bunch of "rented/conceded" zones to the British, French, Germany and so on in Shanghai less than 100 years ago.

I know this is a month old, but I'm an American and I have done this also in countries like Russia where being Americans are controversial. It's not that I'm ashamed of being American or anything, I just want to avoid any confrontations. I know a handful of Americans who do this. The good news is that if an American tourist is claiming to be Canadian, it's likely because they're self conscious about the image that American tourists tend to have. So in general, American tourists who do this are generally polite and respectful.
