In the words of Steve Harvey: "If you're getting up going to work on a job every day that you hate going to, that ain't living. You're just existing. At one point in time you ought to see what living's like. But the only way to see what living's like, you got to jump."

You poor thing! I'm so happy for you! I love your channel! Back in the day I used to go to furniture auctions and when the gavel came down with a loud SPLIT, broke my heart. That handcrafted bedroom set that had been together for a hundred years is now going to several different homes. I love the history of items too. I've told & wrote notes in family heirlooms so my kids know the history. Always a supporter of you!

I mentioned this to Taco in a comment a couple of days ago, he says he spends so much time working, he doesn't get time to enjoy life. My thought on this is that we are meant to do more in life than to pay bills. You are good at KZfaq, you are relatable because you are not way out there. We all relate to who you are. I like to support good people in their work and if you ever did Patreon I would support you. Maybe if you could partner up with someone it might help you diversify. You do very cute little scenes with your finds, try selling them? You have so much potential, your people skills, you ability to research, you are kind and one of the most intelligent people doing KZfaqr. Judy and I send our love from 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 we both have faith in you!

Brave girl. I was an ICU nurse 35 years in a "right to work" state. That means all of our wages stagnated for 15 years because the hospitals decided what they would pay us. If I had the energy to try something different I would have. I was also a pioneer because I got my BSN in 1982. Retired now. Whoopie. I hope you both find Nirvana or self actualization. Congratulations on your New Career choice! I think its a great move on your part. Now trade off that car you have for a minivan (I know very un-stylish) or a good pickup as you are going to need it to pick up more curbside treasures. Maybe purchase a drone for those aerial shots yet to come. On your previous videos you mentioned you wished to explore America, now's your chance, I can see an upcoming Yellowstone Park video someday and hopefully others as well. And please add Historian to your resume as you are truly one of those. (a Historian friend here in my city named me a Historian too and Im very grateful for that), All the BEST in your new job! now you can take longer lunch breaks , no running back to the office from that yard sale! Congratulations! I quit my job in 2020 and I had not planned to do so for a couple more years. And it’s now been 9 months now since I quit and there is not a second I’ve regretted it. Not a single second! It is truly a celebration each day! Money is tighter, including the issue of health insurance, of course, but money is not life. Life is living in ways that bring you joy and happiness. My DH and I live a very simple lifestyle overall and are grateful we have always done so. We live in a little (less than 600 sq ft) cabin in the woods of Idaho. Many think we are crazy ..and it matters not a bit! There are those who will try “with the best of intentions” to tell you it’s irresponsible, too risky, etc. I encourage you to shut it out. This is YOUR LIFE and yours to live. Hold onto that. One of my favorite quotes is ...”Leap and the net will appear.” Yes! Again, congratulations and here you go ... following your heart and happiness. I send you heartfelt congratulations and encourage you to breathe into your strength, your passion and YOUR new life. Kathleen, Idaho

What do you do about medical insurance?
@papabear2515
@papabear2515 3 жыл бұрын
Joan Earle I originally paid for COBRA as I had health insurance through my work before I quit. I stayed on COBRA until this last month, when I could purchase health insurance through the marketplace. I was able to purchase health insurance through the market place for about 1/3 of what my COBRA monthly premiums had been. My husband has had and continues to have Medicare, a supplemental medicare plan and a prescription plan. It’s so sad that health insurance is often the single biggest reason why people work at jobs they don’t like or work well into their retirement years because of the expense of health insurance and health care in our country. I am a huge supporter of health insurance/Medicare for all. We have friends in Canada that are STUNNED at what the average American pays for their health insurance and then, pays for health care (deductibles, office visits, prescriptions, etc.). Our Canadian friend had breast cancer, got prompt, excellent treatment - and did not have to worry about the cost of any of it! Yes, they pay higher taxes that included complete health care coverage - but they far, far, far less than what we Americans pay. We also have dear friends who live in Minnesota. They have their health insurance through his employer. His employer pays 1/2 of the monthly premium for him, as an employee. Our friends pay his other half and her whole premium each month. They pay $1700 PER MONTH and each has a $4500 annual deductible! And his salary is under $48,000/year! It’s just wrong! So, so wrong. I hope your situation is good/manageable for you and yours regarding health insurance and health care. Kathleen

Your experience in the corporate world sounds like mine. Coworkers treating me badly, sucking up to the bosses and taking credit for my work. Me being the last one to be told anything happening in the office. Crying all weekend because I had go back on Monday. I actually enjoyed what I did, but not where and who I did it with. I quit after my son was born and never looked back. Vintage reselling is such fun, IF you make it fun. And you do! Best of luck!

Awwww, Rene, I’m so happy for you. I came from the opposite side in that I was always a workaholic. Yes! Addicted to my job. When I lost it after 14 years because I was a tourism director (virus=tourism is dead) I thought I would go nuts w/o it. We’re the same because turns out I’m ready for adventure! I retired instead. I miss the people, not working and though once upon a time my entire self worth was tied up in my job, it just is not anymore. As far as creativity goes, the green background of aged wood speaks to me. I think any creative souvenir should include a moose AND whatever textures you love. A photo of a junk journal cover you make would get awesome!! I only suggest this because I love your eye for such things. My own adventure starts with becoming a furniture painting artist. Though my creativity always had to be channeled into bureaucracy, I’m soon to be unleashed on textures, layers, clay molds and whatever makes my heart sing. I’m so happy for you. And I look forward to watching this journey on your channel. Congratulations! Leslie

I am so happy for you, Renee! I understand your story all too well, I too had a job that I hated so much that I would cry every morning getting ready to go to work and most days while at work as well. My boss nit-picked at something I did or didn't do on a regular basis. I started to have heart palpitations and I was only in my early 20's. I was able to eventually move to another job within the same company that was a little better. Quitting wasn't an option because it was in the early 1980's, a time when jobs were hard to find. I had a college degree and, like you, couldn't find a job where I could use it. All that to say, I think I understand how you felt and that is no way to live, in fact you aren't really living if you are that miserable. It's so awesome that you are able to get up every morning and do what you love! I look forward to watching your videos every day! You go girl! May the Lord bless you in this new season of your life!

To help Renee out may I suggest a couple of ways. 1. Watch her videos ALL THE WAY through. 2. Watch ALL the ads ALL THE WAY through. (more ad revenue for her) Those two things doesn't cost you anything, but could make all the difference to Renee. And of course like and subscribe. Just my 2 cents.

Hi from England 🇬🇧 I'm so happy and proud for/of you , life is too short and I've had to quit work 3 1/2 years ago due to bad health but despite bad health and not much money I'm so much happier because work was so stressful , now I make greetings cards as a hobby for family ❤️

Don’t forget the value of Patreon. It can add a significant amount to your monthly income. There are a few KZfaqrs whom I support for $5 a month. One of them sends me a monthly card with some hand crafted scraps and embellishments, plus extra more personal videos. The other offers extra videos for Patreon supporters only. I support them because one inspires me and the other offers me enjoyment with his humor and art.

I love your channel Renee because you are genuine, humble and best of all articulate. I want to wish you luck but I don't think you'll need it so all I will say is "you jump, we will be here to catch you". Here's to the start of a great new year. Can't wait to see what you get up to. Yeah!!!! You are my favorite content creator. You deserve to be happy! Happiness is not money, when you pursue money you leave happiness. When you pursue happiness you find the money follows. Several years ago my husband was in the same position. We were living paycheck to paycheck stressed out chasing money like it was the “goal”. Then he decided to take a leap and find a job he could enjoy now we have some financial stability even paying 2 children through college and one of them living out of the house we pay for his rent. It doesn’t even seem real... But it’s true you follow what you love rather than the goal of making money the money will find you. Btw you are glowing in this video! Please don’t worry about anything fancy, we just love YOU!

A BIG congratulations to you!!! I did the same...big jump... but it took me much longer/later in life. I am so proud of you choosing health and happiness over money and trying to be the round peg fitting into a square hole. For me, I had some good sociological research related jobs but the majority of my jobs were crushing me physically, mentally, and spiritually. I dreaded every day. I could play the game but at what cost? I finally asked myself, 'why should I want to play THEIR game?' It was scary...at first...as a single parent, I had to wait until my child was grown and independent in order to break free. I followed my passion and my heart. I thought, what is the worse that can happen? After managing to pay for my very frugal monthly expenses, I developed a 'faith'; not a religious faith, but more of a spiritual and inner essence faith/strength. I knew I would be ok, no matter what; I will make it. So, I am a full-time Etsy seller. I just started my own KZfaq Vintage Channel and, to add some consistent funds and balance, I work in a very part-time job (3 days a week for only 3 hour shifts) in a field very close to my heart. AND, you will be just fine, too!

Congratulations on finding your joy! I have been thru all of the ups and downs, more downs than ups, of finding the right thing that makes my soul happy. I had a job once, doing what I loved, working with horses, but the boss was what I call subtly abusive. I would be doing my job, the way I had been told to do it, the way I had done it many many times. She would publicly admonish me, saying I wasn't doing it right, do it this way. She did it so many times, in front of co workers, and clients, that I was a nervous wreck, scared to do anything. I was out sick for a bit, surprise, and the morning I was returning, I had to pull over. I sobbed hysterically, I couldn't do it. I couldn't go back back to that. Life is too freakin short to deal with what doesn't feel right. I've had several jobs since, worked 5 years for Michael's. While there I started doing flea markets with just stuff we had around, couple generations accumulated good junk. I went into a space at a antique shop also, sourcing from yard and estate sales. I quit Michael's, went full time stuff seller. My main love is vintage clothing, older the better. Did Ebay for awhile, eh, not my favorite . My mom, sister and I made a big move from one small town, to a smaller town that is in a tourist destination area. Bought a house with a separate retail space, and opened a "vintique" shop. Happy doesn't describe how it made me feel, to have my own business doing what I love. While I love selling, the people I meet, my main joy is the hunt and the learning. Like you, I love to research, find out where things come from, the story of something. I get whole albums of photos, from early 1900's to mid century, and I love putting peoples lives together. We used to be able to salvage at the county dump, and people would throw away whole lives! Oh the stories I could tell of my digs and finds! But enough, just wanted to say good for you! Here's to 2021 and Independence!!

I worked in the corporate world for almost 40 years, and I greatly admire the courageous decision you made. When you said “Junk Journals” that peeked my interest. I for one would like to see what that is all about. Please either show how you would make one or talk about and explain them. I’m praying for another garbage sack house or I enjoyed when you go to estate sales. It might be fun for you to team up with Taco and buy a hoarder house or and old estate place with lots to find. I’m waiting for that also. Whatever your KZfaq life brings you I will be here cheering you on!!!
