ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you'll join me in this KZfaq journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I've gathered throughout the years. I hope I can teach you some of what I know, help you discover your creative voice and I hope you enjoy this Channel!

I know it's tacky to come to one channel and talk about another; but, I really feel the need here Kristi Rice is all about making watercolor fun and accessible to all she talks about putting the "joy" in painting and removing the fear, hence the names on here products, she's really fun and inspiring to watch, in a completely different way, I feel like I have learned a lot from both of you as you really embody two ends of the spectrum and are both great teachers

Hold my earrings !!! Loved it!!! I am back to art after a forced retreat of 34 years. After all this time finally I can unchain this monster inside of me. I’m starting again and this time I want to paint nightscapes. Wish me good luck! Bless you for all the wonderful information but mostly for the inspiration.

Margot, the Silver Brush brush you showed isn't actually a regular dagger. It's called a striper or dagger striper. I think I had read they are useful for, well, stripes, because they have a large belly paired with the long bristles on one end. This differs from liners in that liners do not have large belly. Stripers can also be used as daggers can, but in a less generalized way. Think long twisted leaves vs more common leaves, petals, and the like by the regular dagger. [Edit, called it a stripper at one point.]

I'm glad to see someone else has mentioned this! Yes, the Silver Velvet one is a "two in one" brush but mainly used as a liner type. Normal dagger brushes don't have the long extended bristles.

This set of brushes from Kristy Rice are fun and also unique. They really do look like they would be great for flowers as well as many other types of subjects. I like how she designed the handles to be different colors. I also love the little zipper pouch they come in. Her packaging and branding is very lovely. It’s such a nice touch.

The lid on the water jar is a great idea!! I learned really quickly to keep my paints, water jar, and projects up. I am extremely involved in raising my nephew (24/7) and he loves painting. I learned about his love for painting when he was about 2-21/2. He would come and watch me paint and I gave him finger paints to paint with me. One morning, he got up very early and quietly came into my room, sat at my chair at my desk, picked up the paint brush and used my palette and water to finish my watercolor painting for me 😂😂😂 Thankfully I don't have any of the "toxic pigments". Regardless, he painted like a baby professional watercolorist and did not do anything with the paints or water that should not be done. I cherish that painting 3 years later, but of course I put my palette and water jar up every night now 😂😂😂😂😂 He has his own non toxic watercolor set, tempera paints, and other craft paints, pencils, markers, etc and creates art with me very often. But yeah...very important to keep the lids on the paint jars and the palettes put up!

I love finding people like you and Kristy on KZfaq. The fun, joy and creativity just warms my heart. I’m learning so much from you and others who are so generously sharing, teaching and encouraging us watchers to try. I haven’t found a niche in watercolor, but I lean towards the ocean for inspiration. Whether it is fish, turtles, whales, boats, coral, seashells, I return to that ocean theme the most. I’ve painted people, animals, birds, and autumn leaves. I have a dream to paint the little things in my yard and turn it into a children’s story that I could illustrate. I’m stuck with how the the story part will go, but have lots of photos of the animals and plants in my own yard for inspiration. Thank you again for sharing yourself, putting yourself out there for people like me to learn from your skills!

Like so many people, I began watching Kristy Rice at about the time my passion for art began to show itself-this occurred late 2020 when I was late in my 40’s!!🥹🙏🏻🙌🏻 My passion is very specific as well, including mostly an unimaginable love for watercolor specifically-& I started to learn to paint!! As a new watercolor artist-Kristy’s videos came up in my feed often, and I have learned a lot from her! In the start after watching a few of them, I found her enthusiasm, love for and use of lots of color and spontaneity to be totally my vibe😍 Since 2021, I have learned that nothing appeals to me more than portraiture, & nothing inspires me more than the love I have for Jesus!!🥰 The method I have discovered to utilize in expressing this love to others was born that year! For me, it includes both of these life changing gifts I received from the Lord; my Salvation and a sudden love for art, beauty and painting with watercolor! Remember those old Reese’s PeanutButter Cups commercials of the 80s? (Anyone else recall those-if ya know you know!!🤣🫣) …I’ve begun creating watercolor portraits -which allow us to look into the eyes of our neighbors-(something many of us fail to do daily anymore, unfortunately) & marvel at the immense range of stunning faces which the Lord made-all ages, ethnicities, and styles of people-and these paintings also contain whatever Bible verses are most speaking to me or impactful in that moment of my life, or those which represent important lessons I’ve heard from, etc…it’s done in a somewhat unexpected manner, most reminiscent in style of portraiture represented by modern day watercolor artists @HumidPeach & @PolinaBright-though naturally I deeply appreciate that those women have been at it far far longer and are immensely more advanced-so no disrespect in comparing my work to theirs-it’s simply helpful to describe the style-in that my work does emulate some aspects of their portraiture stylistically in a couple of ways. Huge long comment-so sorry-but felt inspired to say that I don’t need to win the items represented but I’m grateful you’re doing a giveaway such as this and some painters will be so overjoyed to receive such generous and useful items!! I’m sure someone will enjoy them immensely. Kristy has helped me in showing me how to create loose watercolor flowers with depth and presence for my backgrounds and sometimes foregrounds of my portraits, and I’m very grateful for that. God bless you, Margot, and-loved this video very much!!😊

Two of my favourite artists! I love the pallet. It gives me fairies in garden vibes. I'm all about the colours.

I'm in Indiana, USA. My husband and I went to Moab Utah this summer and I was in awe of the colors of the landscapes (all million of them). Took some great pictures at Arches National Park. That's where those colors would go!

Ohmygosh! I love the petal shape you did up there across the top of the page! Looks just like a large petal on a flower! It’s curled under and we’re looking at out head on!

I love daggers. They are my go-to in all sizes and sharpness. Long lines, sharp points, reasonable water load. You need to learn the flick (using the angled flat side) for vegetation and swishing the whole brush around to get ragged nature looking shapes (trees, especially palms). Great video though! As to the palette, I’d love to try it for watercolor pours. Especially layering that green and peach. Thanks!

I love painting florals and I am in love with that palette. The flowers on the cover make it a collectors item and I would love to try the unique combination of colours to paint florals with. It would be so inspiring to break out and start painting florals with such a pretty palette and unique colours. ❤

Thank you for your review, I saw your previous review of this palette and I would to get bolder and fearless with these vibrant colours on a series of stacked vintage teacups. I think it would be perfect! Definitely trying a dagger brush too. ❤
