Because the us (a western country) basically rules nato (a primarily European alliance). Considering that the us contributes to 2/3 of natos budget and because the us is also the only nato country that has thousands of nuclear warheads and because the us is also the most advanced strongest and well funded military in the world. For many reasons! The USA promised, and it is on record, that NATO would not expand eastwards from Germany. Secondly, Ukraine joining NATO and NATO establishing military bases at Russia's doorstep is provocative. When Russia placed a military base in Cuba, the USA was enraged. So, if the USA and NATO don't want Russia to expand, they shouldn't expand either.

It's intriguing to see Trump propose a peace plan for Ukraine. Given Russia's reaction, it will be interesting to see if Zelensky finds this plan acceptable. Can this bring an end to the conflict, or will it add more complications? Let's hope for a resolution that prioritizes peace and stability for the region.

I think you got it wrong, HT,Trump's peace plan. What I could gather from the live debate yesterday was that Ukraine would be encouraged or coerced ( not sure) to come to negotiate with Putin and if the latter refuses Ukraine will be given all the weapons. During negotiation time there's no need to shower Zelensky with all modern weapons. If Zelensky bluntly refuses Trump will stop all supplies of weapons. If you have got copy of the plan you can correct me.

We shall see if Trump keeps his word to being both sides to the negotiating table in 48hrs when and if he becomes president. I personally doubt it as the donors in his country have too much invested in Ukraine. If most of eastern Ukraine is is part of Russia, that’s most of its industrial and agricultural land gone. So what’s left for Ukraine to self sustain itself? Ans: not much. Hence my point that those individuals who gambled on gaining fertile agricultural and industrial land won’t see any of it if it remains in Russia.

It will be so easy to do. Zelinsky has no choice but to compromise. Any deal that lets Ukraine keep Odessa is very good for Ukraine and generous bc without access to sea for trade they're done as a nation. They have plenty of farm land still. They don't control the rich mines in Donbass and oil in Crimea but they haven't in over a decade now.

I see two key items in this plan and the rest is window dressing and the criticisms are childish. First is a ceasefire and that includes halting further battlefield operations or hostile preparations. They need to negotiate to secure best possible outcome but corruption with unlimited indefinite aid makes the leaders want to fight to the last Ukrainian to continue filling their pockets. Polls from last year show most Ukrainians support compromise to end this civil war. Ukraine needs to resume elections and rebuild not continue down this path of gambling all or nothing and forcing their last men to fight against their will

Peace is better than fighting Ukraine lost whole cities allready. Thousands killed. Even if they won guess who would pay for rebuilding?... the US. Either sit down get a peace deal or no more money. Rather be on good terms with Rissia than enemies. Once peace is declared open up trading get gas prices down. Or keep the war going for years giving away tax payers money to another country.

Ukraine will lose on the battlefield if they don't turn up (with or without continued aid) and Russia will just take what they want by force if they have to. No one seems to care most Ukrainians support compromise to end the war. That's key thing to remember
