It looks great on you! I'm 45, and Black Honey was the first non-drugstore makeup item I ever purchased in the mid-90s.

It was used on Lord of the Rings for Arwen's lips! That's what brought me and many others to it. I have a real soft spot for it because of that, and every nerdy make-up loving friend I've introduced to it because who doesn't want to feel like an elfin Princess? 👸

I am 48 and this was my very first lip product with a color I used. A true classic.

I’m 65 and LOVED Black Honey back in my day. But that was eons ago. It looks fantabulous on you Kat.

I’m 47 and first came across in the 90s and it was available as gloss in a pot as well as a stick. In fact the pot came before the stick. The pot was called black honey because it looked like a really dark honey and the stick came in 1989. I loved the pot, which came with a tiny little lip brush and I still have the lip brush somewhere! The pot was sooo good, I even had it in a browny nude which was amazing and was really gutted when they discontinued the pots. In the late 90s.

I prefer the chubby stick in Fuller Fig because its kinda similar to Black Honey but is much more moisturizing

I’m about your age Kat and I’ve been using this since the late 90’s. My Mum always wore Clinique foundation and moisturiser and would give me the little gift with purchase packs.

I think it’s coming back because it’s like a balm. That’s why it’s called Almost lipstick. And balms are very popular right now. It’s a good time for it to shine!!

I love the Covergirl dupe of this in the pink tube, Bliss You Berry.

I received one of these for Christmas and tried it for the first time about a month ago, it's beautiful but I do more than one coat it gathers in the lines on my lips, but one sheer coat is gorgeous

It looks lovely on you, Kat. I first bought Black Honey as a teen in the early '90s, but eventually realised it didn't really suit me: it's too warm/brown for me (& my less-than-pearly whites). I instead discovered other shades of Almost Lipstick: at various times, Black Raspberry & Chic Honey have been cooler, pinker favourites. If only they could be brought back!

Oh man Black Honey is viral again? Nice! I remember it was the first "high end" lip product I ever bought when I was a broke college kid in 2015 (10 years ago.... wow lol) and I really loved it! I might buy another and revisit it.

I had Black Honey around 2000/2001 and didn't think it was flattering on me. Kinda tempted to try it again.

I'm 50 yo and I first bought my Black Honey in a pot and it came with a cute little brush I even found a cute little plastic pouch which was just the right size to store the two items together and have them in my purse. At the time I worked in a cosmetics store and had access to the the counters and found these pouches no one knew what they were for but I read somewhere (NOT from the internet) or even saw them in a magazine maybe? But even the Clinique reps were surprised with my "discovery"😎 But the pot went bad really fast (can't deny fingers were mostly used too👇) and then switched to the stick and still stands as my most repurchased lip product ever! But not anymore...but very tempted lately...but Kat reminded me that it did gather in the inner part of the lips making them look chappy and yes, I do have very dry lips...so reconsidering my last thought...😒

I have recently bought one and so did my boss and she has had many of them in the past and had one of her old ones with her. She said straight away that the new one seemed different from the newest one she had and even swatching the old vs. new one next to each other. The formula seemed a little different, a little less creamy and ever so slight colour difference. She had the limited edition crystal packaging for Christmas so that's why we thought they may be different but even mine in the normal packaging just didn't seem as nice, as the older version.

I’m 59 and bought this for myself Xmas 2022. I think it’s okay but it didn’t wow me. Mainly because on its own , it doesn’t suit me. Then I realised that I had this back when I was a teenager! However, it was originally in a pot. I t was an amazing product. My favourite, back then. I also had the nail polish which was also exceptional. Next time I’m in Myer, I’m going to try Pink Honey. ❤

Wow I just purchased one today and tried it out. I thought it might look more brownish but because of my lips it looks a little purple-pink, which was unexpected, but I think I should just try to apply more layers. I love the texture, I saw some reviewers say it's not great for dry and chapped lips which I tend to have, but I applied a lip butter an hour before and as a result my lips look lovely, with a subtle shine. Normally I can't stand the sensation of oily, buttery lipsticks because they feel like they're spreading everywhere, but this one stays in one place as it's supposed to and doesn't give me any uncomfortable sensations. Super satisfied, must be like my first non-drugstore lipstick. It was worth it.

Black Honey. The universal colour that looks great on everyone but me! I tried it probably mid 80's and it didn't work for me then. Something in my addled brain told me to trying again this year and surprise! I had the same result 😂 I really should just pass it on to one of my granddaughters, it's probably look awesome on them.

Old enough to have used the pot version. Loved it!

Nivea Japan Rich Care & Colour in Bordeaux. Love it. Maybe the full size Clinique is better...yours appears smoother on apply and more pigmented than mine. I got the mini over the holidays w/the mini mascara (also terrible) and it's just dry and waxy and difficult to build I don't like the texture at all. Buttery is the last word on the planet I'd use for it. It also doesn't do a huge amount for me as I have pigmented rose mauvy lips.

Love Black Honey! I’m pretty fair and just recently got Pink Honey and I think I almost like it more than Black Honey!

Elf Black Cherry Sheer Tinted Lipstick is a decent dupe for the Clinique Black Honey, and MUCH more affordable!

I bought this as my first "high-end" lipstick nearly 40 years ago. As a goth, the bullet colour totally got me, but I was really disappointed as it was so sheer and wasn't black as I'd hoped 😂 However, I bought & used one up since then (with a Black Honey eye pencil) and appreciated it for what it is. EDIT: I bought a few Clinique things & got a gift with purchase and it had a mini of Black Honey - bonus!

Clinique was popular with my friends and me when I was in high school in the late '90s and I remember there were way more colors in the Almost Lipstick line then. It's a nice formula. I'm glad they kept Black Honey around but it's a shame they don't have more shades.

My mom bought that for me in the early 90s. It didn't do anything for me then but I thought I was so cool.You know, a 13 year old playing with makeup. I tried it again recently and it does nothing for me now. I was kind of bummed. But it's so fun to see it coming around again.

I remember first seeing this product in 1992 when I was 12 😂. Middle school, my friend’s aunt took her to the mall and got her this lippie. I think it’s definitely a great intro lip for a tween/teen. I always remember loving how sleek the tube looked.

I think it’s been duped for 30 years too!

Just got one today and agree . I used to use Graoe juice by maybelline which lasted 24hrs but has sadly been discontinued. This Black Honey is almost the same but won't last as long on sadly x

It is great for toning down a color that might be a bit too bold or harsh. I always have a tube of it...I have been using it since the '80s.

I bought it the first time because of an article in a magazine about The Lord of the Ring. The makeup artist used it on Liv Tyler, so of cause I wanted to look like Arwen. Not that I did but I loved Black Honey ever since. But now I can never buy it because it is ALWAYS sold out.

Wonder if the LH fantasticks in garnet or berry r similar. Plus spf in those.

I’ve wanted to try Black Honey for ages, but I don’t like dark shades on my lips and am always intimidated by this, even though everyone says it doesn’t look that dark on the lips. It was half price in Ulta’s holiday sale, but I chickened out and got the Pink Honey version instead 😅

It's great, I think I 'discovered' it in 2016 (very late as we are contemporaries), couldn't get over how good it looked and how idiot proof.

I had one of these in the 80s or 90s, easy handbag shade, goes fast. The MAC one looks nice, might be better for me now. ❤

I've used it but I must be sensitive to something in it. My lips cracked, and peeled within hours. Looked pretty while it lasted. 😂

I love berry lip products and black honey looks much more brown on me! I still love it but the way it comes across is definitely affected by someone’s colouring

Catrice lip balms are a good option too

I remember my oldest sister, I’m the youngest of six, she used to wear this, and it came in a pot. It was all the rage even back then.

I first heard of it when Madonna raved about it in the 90s. I thought it would have been darker and warmer than it turned out to be. Black.honey had me thinking it would be deep amber, which I would have loved.

I broke my no-buy today. The Laneige Cotton Candy Lip Sleeping Mask. It’s soooooo goooooooooood!

I was born in 1970, now i feel very old. The lipstick looks gorgeous on you, but you have nice lips and i think you could pull off almost any lipstick. I envy your lips :)

I have this one and it's not my favourite.. the shade seems almost dark considering it's sheer

Maybe mine was old, it was starting to smell like crayons, but for me it had a chapped lips type of color unfortunately.

I bought it to celebrate a promotion and it is gorgeous but dries out after about an hour and you can't see it anymore. I was very disappointed in the product.

It needs to be reformulated, too drying on my lips.
