Both were good. And Acasia Red Elk danced like a bird, and she raised her feathers with perfect timing, and I like the way she styled it. My favorite part was when she paused, then continued slowly again, and then ended with her feathers raised up to her face. Great talents. But both did great

I don’t know the Lakota natives like I do many of the Pueblo people in the 4 corners area. I grew up near Isleta Pueblo which is fairly close to the Cochiti, Acoma, Laguna, Navajo, Hopi and Zuni nations. My grandmother is 1/4 Chickasaw so my connection to any tribe is very remote genetically but I admire these people so much. We have so much to learn from them…

@martinaj34627 жыл бұрын
Agree. At least keep it in line with the zig zag directions and do your fancy stuff along the way .The Ojibway dream about the healing dress was the teaching I was taught.

Nova Courchene Thought the same. Even men, the men look all covered up, I don’t think they always had that many coverings all over, but that doesn’t matter.. because Native Islanders don’t always wear the old traditional clothings as well in our dances. At least everyone’s holding on to something.
@jojojostar49063 жыл бұрын
That's why there is a difference between contemporary dance competitions and traditional dance. They both have value and they both have their place. Younger generations should be free to be creative and experiment with their own dancing. It doesn't detract from traditional forms of dance.

The woman who picked the second place dancer must need her eyes checked. First she wandered off and walked by the two dancers, then she picked the wrong dancer. Acosia should have won.

I have noticed this same two woman in other videos I am sure. The Thunder of their Style of Dance , Their Posture, Power, Grace, Pride and Beauty speak louder than any words could ever say. They are both Truly Majestic and Beautiful. I refuse to try to understand how anyone could attempt to make a contest on such Magnificent Artist. It seems to me to be entirely shameful, disrespectful and cheapens the entire efforts and respect of such truly great and wonderful Dancers. Such Contest are unworthy of these Great Artist. High Art does not lend or lower itself to Contest. These Contest should be Stopped , it is unworthy and wrong.

What does jingle dance mean
@AmigoKandu2 жыл бұрын
The metal cones on the dresses are jingles that make a collective sound as the dancer moves. This dress is from a tradition of the Objibwe People, from a story about the healing power of the sound of the jingles and the prayers of the dancers. This is a newer powwow dance.
