When you see Novak or Rafa play a qualifier ranked in the hundreds in the first round of a major it’s equivalent to Man United playing a semi-pro team from Kentucky in terms of financial resources. Novak and Rafa certainly have earned the money to pay for coaches, fitness trainers, chefs, and materials to maximize their talents. They fly private jets to tournaments, while the qualifier likely had to take a connecting flight through Des Moines, Iowa, and may have had to battle with the airline to locate lost luggage. The disparity in terms of financial resources is massive and likely lost on the casual fan of tennis. I have a lot of respect for tennis pros, men and women, who grind it out on the lower circuits in pursuit of their dreams. It’s a tough gig for sure.

It shows you how mentally strong you need to be, and no matter how many matches you win or lose, you keep going. Kind of like life as well. Life will go up and down at times. But you just gotta keep on moving on. I support you man! I was so happy and hyped up when I saw you practicing with Robin Soderling. @@Simon.Freund You bet. You've already done so much with your tennis. Hopefully people can see that this is far from simple. You need a serious external commitment financially to make it in this sport, in addition to an amazing level of talent with laser focus. Many have family help and sponsors, supporting them. Tennis needs more sponsorships from community clubs! Sponsoring local pros helps the sport grow and their club. Tennis needs more televised tournaments, & more betting opportunities, like the other big sports. Treat it like the other sports & athletes can start getting paid.

great video, you did sugar coat it a bit but thats fine haha. most players on atp ranking are in minus at least 20 to 30 k eu per year on average . this almost always gets covered by parents who are only sponsors for most players. also this goes without taking in to account many years of trying which are also prime years of someones life . so spending 5 to 10 years trying to make it without gaining much is also an issue. many people see this as complaining but its just quality info , and thats always good. people need to know as much about the sport as possible and then its up to them to decide , is it worth it or not . because once u get going its hard to stop. about coaching after u retire : 99% of players never made any money and once they start coaching they need to make money. simple as that. so in a way its better to play as long as possible. bright side is things can always change for better. so yeah try u best.

Hey Simon, Thanks for the breakdown. I had seen somewhere else a breakdown for Noah Rubin where I believe his annual costs were something like $120,000. This is where you're 100% right about the coaching costs; this is where the majority of his expenses were (coaching in his case included not only pure coaching, but also court hire and hitting partners). He got up to about #125 in the world, and his prizemoney was around $150,000 in that year. I personally think the prizemoney is a scandal. It's way too low given the skills involved. Many of you guys have trained for 15 years to get where you are. That's longer than a lot of doctors and lawyers, and look at what they get paid.

Its cause tennis is not necessary for global advancement
@bigrobsydney
@bigrobsydney Жыл бұрын
@@unknownentiti2351 The point of that was the RELATIVE remuneration for work. Look at other sports. What do you think the worlds #125th best soccer player gets? If you looked JUST at the English Premier League, players are getting £100,000 a week (some get a lot more than that). Look at American sports like NFL, NBA, MLS, NHL, MLB. Players here get paid huge sums. And that's just one country. There are strong leagues all over the world. Come on, stop being obstinate.
@unknownentiti2351
@unknownentiti2351 Жыл бұрын
@@bigrobsydney Clubs sign offers with soccer players. even if they are not popular. This means that soccer players accept the contracts which they believe are a good investment. This means they are not just being paid by how much their team wins or how much they are sponsored. Tennis players, on the other hand, don't join clubs. They don't sign contracts with organizations; they simply get winnings by winning or getting sponsorships. And why have the world #125 sponsor your ad? That's no one special. In soccer, there are also different positions. This means that the world #5 best defensemen would, in actuality, be #15-20 if everyone played the same position. However, he is just being known as the #5th best defensemen, so clubs will higher them for their team.

I wandered in the "futures" wilderness for 4-5 years. I only have 1 (only 1!) Challenger appearance to my name. Luckily, my parents funded 90% of my expenses. I cannot imagine self-funding during an era of huge inflation. In retrospect, I wouldve joined a prestige level academy and monetized my game in a more consistent/professional manner. Note: you have a superb game, but your racket acceleration/ split-step/ etc variety needs to mirror your practice sessions. The Jannik Sinner hit-around illustrates your skill level, which is significant. I would've gladly traded my 1-dimensional serve-forehand game for your all-around game. You're healthy right now. Lets kill it!! 💪
