Finbarr Dwyer (accordion) Brian McGrath (piano)

Finbarr Dwyer was from Castletownbere in West Cork, Ireland. This was recorded in Dolan's music venue Limerick city in 2007. Wish to thank Peter Browne of RTE radio and his team for being there and capturing this piece of musical history.

Love his tunes and his playing. Sad that he passed away. We play the tunes and love them.

His playing of even common tunes is so surprising. It’s like he can hear aspects of the melody that the rest of us can’t, and then he plays it out loud for us to hear. Amazing, and so great that he found a competent pianist!

The greatest. It makes my heart miss a beat. I went to his funeral in Ardgroom. Richard his brother played the accordion. This was a day forever in my memory. God bless him. From the Connemara man himself. Peter Keane.

Finbarr a true master. His playing is full of sparkle and lifts the spirit yet he eschews the modern trend to play dance tunes like a runaway train.

This was on sale as a CD at the Willie Clancy Summer School, I still have the copy I bought. There probably weren't that many of them released, so it's good that it can be heard here. Great to hear Finbarr speaking about his music, too.

Finbarr's early recordings were ruined by turgid, inadequate backing. However, none better than McGrath. This is great. Thanks very much for uploading.

I had one of those recordings, which do not give justice to Finbarr Dwyer's lovely playing. This one is definitely gorgeous, with Brian McGrath's tasteful piano accompaniment. Thank you so much for posting this!

I think the last tune seems to be a french " Musette" style dance .

I heard Finnbar Dwyer , playing a couple of times . He played a French Walz that Yvette Horner had played , when she won the World Championship in 1948 . He was playing the two row , the three row , would be better for Bal Musette , he was still amazing . Such a talented man .
